LuIzA Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 for the longest time I've been trying to find out what this instrument is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQHp6IUN8P8&feature=fvst it plays at: 1:06 , 1:16 , 2:29 , 2:39 anyone know? Quote
Kanthos Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Do you have any other examples of it, where it's clearer? If it's the sound I think, it might be some kind of keyboard instrument, but I'd want to hear it more clearly and for longer than 4 short chords in the entire song to narrow it down. Quote

It's a lot clearer in the 480p version if you haven't tried that. Quote
SonicThHedgog Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 seems like a pad synth with some cymbles but on a sampler with lfo's Quote
Tensei Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Dulcimer? Mandoline? Some kind of percussive instrument? It beats the hell out of me. Quote
Nase Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 the bowed nasal sounding chords? could be a classic mellotron string sound. Quote
zircon Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Sounds to me like a bouzouki or some other East European plucked/strummed instrument played tremolo. It could be any one of a number of zithers from the region and it would be impossible to tell. Quote
Nase Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 guess i'm missing something? i don't hear anything that sounds like a tremolo. i'm hearing a few plucked notes that don't sound like they're coming from a guitar, but they might as well be one with fx on top... Quote
LuIzA Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 It definetely sounds like a stringed instrument, but don't think it has any fx on it, at least the production doesnt suggest it. I initially thought it was a dulcimer, but i don't know if it can be played that way. I don't think it's a bouzouki or something like that played tremolo, because the sound decays fast. EDIT: looking at some youtube videos, I really think it's a hammered dulcimer. Quote
