mickomoo
I'm aware of magnus, for $30, but are there any others? For a decent price
Gario
I can't say if this package is GREAT 'cause I haven't personally used it, but someone on NG created a free choral VST that imitates vowels (which is more than many choral samples do, I've noticed). Check it out and tell me how it does for you .

Hy Bound
Kontakt's Choir Collection is sick. This. EWQL Choirs is the best you can get, but its spensive...
Ghetto Lee Lewis
I'd take a look at Tonehammer's choirs. They're not really an all in one like Symphonic Choirs, but absolutely incredible sounding. Also, try hunting for Peter Siedlaczek's choirs. They were probably the very first choir samples that let you build syllables (though it was quite advanced to do so). They might be abandonware by now, or reasonably priced. Of course, Symphony of Voices and Voices of the Apocalypse are classics. VotA is being sold now as an upgrade to Symphonic Choirs, but even the old version has incredible power to it (including an impressive 4 1/2 octave range) and features a word builder if you can come by a copy of Gigasampler (though I've seen a Kontakt version also). Sympony of Voices doesn't have word building, but has excellent textures and some very emotional samples and effects.
Dissidia
Actually the Symphonic Choirs was recently updated for PLAY! I saw it in my newsletter.
Kanthos
Symphonic Choir's been on PLAY for quite a while now. The update last week was that they've added the WordBuilder functionality into the PLAY plugin and standalone itself, so you no longer have to go to another application to do that. Hemophiliac
Voxos is insanely good from the demos and videos i've seen, being a choral singer myself i'd love to try it out. Sounds pretty much like true legato singing. Very expensive though, and no word builder...though there is a "phrase builder"

Why isn't there a "scratches head anime style" smily...
mickomoo
anyone know if EWQL is the only company that creates chior vsts w/ a "wordbuilding" function?
Moseph
anyone know if EWQL is the only company that creates chior vsts w/ a "wordbuilding" function? Yes, as far as I'm aware. Also, just since I feel obligated to mention this any time people express interest in EWQL Choirs, the wordbuilder is very difficult to use well. You've been warned.
