Charlie's Angel
Isn't it a clap?
Ravich
Maybe a clap with some crazy reverb, but to my ears the attack doesnt sound much like a clap. Maybe that's just because of the psf sound font or whatever.
Kidd Cabbage
Yeah, this is just a clap with a bunch of reverb. This is actually really conservative in the scheme of electronic music. Check out the claps on some of the old Roland drum machines, and throw some verb on them.
Ravich
Hmmm... the thing is that I'm not going for an old time MIDI feel, so I was hoping that wasnt the answer. Is cranking up the volume and adding some decent reverb going to make it feel big enough or will it still feel thin? While I'm here... how do I find a synth that sounds like the one in that track? The melody.
Kidd Cabbage
That's not really a synth sound. It's basically a resampled orchestra sound. So, to get it, you're going to have to do some extensive resampling. (Use an orchestra VST and record some notes/chords onto an audio track, then take that recorded audio and load it into a sampler and mess with it. This is how a lot of these sounds and SNES sounds came into being.)
noTuX
Is this the type of sound you were looking for? http://www.mediafire.com/?i3g47554mbu1i9t I just took a clap sample from FL Studio and threw a couple of reverb (cave and blur 025 presents) effects on in. Ghetto Lee Lewis
It's more than one percussion instrument layered together. It sounds like a shaker with a clap.
Ravich
Midi is not sound nor music. That is all. Yes, but I'm pretty sure anyone with something worthwhile to contribute can understand my intended meaning Is this the type of sound you were looking for? Note quite. I think the above poster is right that there's more than one sound there. I just dont know the best way of recreating it.
