Question about contracts for video game composition

Recommended Posts

Hey there, I just took on some work scoring a computer game. The offer came from some spec work I did, and they are already in love with the stuff I've done and want more. The problem is that now we need to hammer out a contract and I honestly haven't the faintest idea what a contract for video game work looks like.

I've written plenty of music in my time, but not in the computer game field. I don't know whether I should charge a flat fee for each piece of music. Whether I should charge an hourly fee. Whether I should be asking for royalties. What kind of pay scale is industry standard. I don't really know anything at all about the business end of video game composition. Can someone give me some guidance? What should I be asking for?
