alright yea, my main goal was to make it a remix but not entirely sound like a remix. most of it is actually original, and by original i actually mean its not what was in the original song but if you play any of the tunes from the original with it, it flows perfectly

but ill show you how its a remix.

ok so, its a remix of 3 songs...ID, EGO and SUPER-EGO.

Ill post the links to the songs along with the point in the video that the remixed tune comes in

______________

ID's remix:

--------------

1:55

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XqFpSFeXYU

This is the original tune that i am remixing.

--------------

1:20

This is what it sounds like in the remix all by itself

---------------

1:34 - 3:02

and

3:07 - 3:36

This is that same tune in the song. the tune being remixed is slightly lower volume then the rest but if you listen you can hear it

There are 2 tunes being remixed here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-kb8EPBO68

------------------------

Here is that same tune remixed in mine:

5:12 - 5:43

--------------------------------

Tune #2 I remixed the bassline in 2 seperate ways. ill explain both.

First off here is the original:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-kb8EPBO68

3:09 - 3:25

and also on this same link you can hear two drum beats at 0:24 - 0:39 and 0:55 - 1:09 i will show you where I added those in.

------------

The bassline is at 3:33 - 3:52 as you can see i have 2 variations of it.

----------------

3:58 - 4:12 = you can hear the first variation of the bassline and the drum from 0:55 - 1:09 in the previous link

4:13 - 4:57 = The drum from 0:24 - 0:39 in the previous link and the second bassline variation are played here

SUPER-EGO's remix

ok, there are several key point in this song that you should note...they are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvH55rqpdNU

0:02 - 0:09 = drum beat 1

1:02 - 1:13 = drum beat 2

1:17 - 1:24 = main theme

1:24- 1:32 = Drum beat 3 (the beat that plays behind the main theme)

Also:

1:33 - 3:32 = boss drum theme

--------------------

Alright now...let me show you where they are in the song

5:37 = main theme

----------------

6:27 - 7:27 = drum beat 1

7:27 - 7:56 = main theme and drum beat 3

8:57 - 9:27 = Boss drum theme

--------------------------

Also, the ending is the actual ending of the game BIT.TRIP VOID with some effects added

Original ending:

5:27

----

My ending:

9:30 - end

----------------------

Does this clarify it a little better?

Took a lot of listens to get a handle on this one; There are some good moments, but there are also a lot of moments that seem really sparse and thin. I'm not sure that the source use is over 50% either, because it's spread out so much.

Also, it's 10 minutes. I do think it could be edited pretty fiercely to fit more in OCR's style.

Took a lot of listens to get a handle on this one;

This 1000 times.

So, this one had me thinking for a long time. I can promise you that if you didn't provide a breakdown, I would have never found any of the source parts (which are mostly ambient and not super memorable TBH) in the mix. With the breakdown, I am hearing them better, but overall it's very sparse, and a lot of the source parts are downplayed. I think as a whole they need to have a stronger focus in the mix. I'm also noticing that all the source parts you use sound extremely close to the original parts. The sounds are near identical, which is cool if you re-created them, but it's also making me wish there was a little more variation in either the sounds of the small melodic lines that you do use.

The meat of the problem to me is the sparse feeling of the source usage and how similar it is to the original. It doesn't help how stretched out the track is, as well, and I think this could benefit from some trimming.

yeah, very interesting mix here, this is a pretty cool avant-garde sort of piece. personally, I really like a few parts of this. the bleeps and bloops are very pleasing to the ear. :) there are some neat changes to the groove, but the instrumentation doesn't evolve much throughout the track, which is already kinda sparse and dragged out, and could've been more straightforward with the source usage. some cool arrangement ideas to be sure, but the overall execution needs to be more focused.
