Pavos
It is a game, I've been following it for quite some time. Looks really interesting since you can actually learn to play guitar through this game. It's finally taking music games like Guitar Hero to a new level. Now I just have to see if it actually works
Nabeel Ansari
How does it know you're hitting the right strings? Why can't I play E on a different position on the fretboard? How does it tell the difference? If this game turned out to be accurate then we could start seeing better MIDI guitars as well.
Nabeel Ansari
All I get when I google that is a small device. It looks like you misunderstood what I said when I said "MIDI guitar". I meant a guitar midi controller. Like your midi piano keyboard.
Nabeel Ansari
The GR-55 is like a GT-10 but with a MIDI pick-up Are you gonna tell me with a straight face that is a guitar? I'm not talking about a MIDI conversion box. I'm talking about a GUITAR that outputs MIDI.
Nabeel Ansari
A guitar that outputs MIDI. A toy ?Because if you call a fake guitar with buttons a guitar, not in my book. This has a MIDI pick-up and it translates what you play into MIDI. It's far beyond a plastic AKAI guitar or something, it works with any guitar. I don't think you quite understand what a MIDI guitar is. It's fairly simple, really. It takes what you play and outputs MIDI data. I don't know how I'm not being clear here. Magnetic Ether
Wait, I thought we already had this with Rock Band 3...It seems like the only difference is that you can use any guitar for this?
Nabeel Ansari
Wait, I thought we already had this with Rock Band 3...It seems like the only difference is that you can use any guitar for this? There are plenty of advantages to that. Having to use your own guitar is nice because it lets you have the action, strings, fretboard, neck, and body that are most comfortable for you to play on. I don't imagine the Rock Band guitar is high quality stuff.

Nabeel Ansari
You don't understand kid, you just need A FUCKING MIDI PICK-UP. I'm not talking about an external box that you need to lug around. I'm talking about a guitar that does it. You know, the musical instrument? Like as in the pick up ON THE GUITAR does the conversion?

You know, the musical instrument? Like as in the pick up ON THE GUITAR does the conversion? yes, that is what metal man is referring to. it exists. what is the question edit: or are you saying you don't want any external devices at all with your midi guitar? let's not get greedy now there are midi pick-ups that can be installed on a guitar that turn what you play into midi data. or it can be done with some sort of converter outside of the guitar. what the hell are we arguing about in here
Gollgagh
MIDI PICK-UP. the pick up ON THE GUITAR does the conversion? ummm, I'm not seeing the difference
Nabeel Ansari
ummm, I'm not seeing the difference He's talking about the blue floor box thing by Roland. If he wasn't, then I don't know why he said "it's got a MIDI pickup" when he was talking about said device.
ambinate
midi pick-ups that go in or on a guitar are real things that exist. roland makes them and so do a few other companies.

I am aware of that. My confusion is why he was referring to the Roland GR-55 as a MIDI guitar.
