Hello again OCR,

Been a while since I submitted anything, probably because I was in "original mode", and experimenting more with new techniques and improving my skills. I decided to take a crack at another (currently) unremixed game, Hedgewars, since Flexstyle introduced me to the game a couple of months ago. It's an open-source Worms clone, but a very good one, with some nice music that doesn't quite seem to get going as much as I'd like, so I decided to flesh out the Bamboo level theme. I chose trance as a style this time because 1) I haven't got a trance remix posted yet 2) it was the obvious choice for the source, and 3) I wrote it after listening to ARMed and DANGerous! Influences are bLiNd, Jewbei, and everyone involved in the aforementioned album.

The details:

Remixer name: DarkSim

website: http://soundcloud.com/darksim

userID: http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=33879

Game arranged: Hedgewars http://www.hedgewars.org/

Name of arrangement: Hogs Of War

Name of song arranged: Not sure exactly, I'm calling it "Bamboo theme" - http://tindeck.com/listen/jsjv

Ooohh yeah, this is sick! :-D This is a great example of a mix that's built on an EXTREMELY solid foundation (I love the plucked bass synth that the song is built around) so that every little detail and addition that pops up in the mix is just icing on an already-delicious cake. Your production is spot-on, much better than any submission I've heard from you so far.

The slightly-detuned lead at 2:13 is awesome and helps retain some of the ethnic vibe from the source. Source usage checks out as far as I'm concerned, I didn't do a terribly thorough comparison but I heard it throughout the mix.

Great trance mix that isn't particularly flashy or extravagant, but still sounds fantastic and extremely enjoyable. Nice work mate :-)

the source lends itself pretty good to trance, being more rhythmic than melodic. I d feel the intro goes a little long, but once the more recognizable source comes in, it works very well. Good sound scape, good pacing, somewhat autopilot drums, but nothing dealbreaking, and a strong vibe.

It's cool to see a ridiculously obscure title grt some love with a polished remix. I'd have liked to hear the beat broken up a bit and some more crazy stuff go on, but you've stayed true to the source feeling while shifting the sounds and energy.

well, your sound is getting more and more polished, but I wonder if we'll ever hear a non dance/house track from you? ;) I only kid slightly, I love me some electro-house, and I won't complain as long as you keep sending high quality arrangements like this. I just wonder what it would sound like if you hit us from left field with a ballad or a hip-hop mix or something. ;D

anyway, solid work here man. keep reppin' the obscure/unmixed. :nicework:
