Liontamer
http://exotica.fix.no/tunes/archive/Authors/Game/Iveson_Martin/Wolfchild.lha - mod.WOLFCHILD1 - Level 1 The original's pretty sparse and basic; 1:04 long, so we'll see what you did with the 5 minutes you had. Opens up in a different key with melody intact and a decent sound upgrade. Beats are pretty basic. Basically the same texture only with a little more body and some gated stuff. Essentially repeats itself about 2 1/2 minutes in, before heading home at 4:09. The groove is decent, and it's a plain but pleasant update, but it needs a lot more reinterpretation and substance. analoq might dismiss this one pretty quickly, as there just isn't much going for it beyond the bare essentials as it were. Keep submitting your stuff to AMIGAremix in order to gain some more exposure for it. NO
GrayLightning
Cool oldschool mix. The problem here as far as OCR standards is there's not much meat in the mix. You have a lead, arp, bass, drums and not much else. It sounds pretty vacant. It's not a bad thing, it's a style of mix and genre, but as far as the guidelines we look into this just comes off as lacking in the compositional, textural departments. Production is good for the style its going for, but I thought it was a bit too thin and sharp for my taste. The synths are oldschool and don't really do much in terms of the aural/aesthetic nature of the mix. The repetition doesn't really add anything engaging to the mix in my view either. It's a nice update, but at OCR we look for more radical arrangement and creative expansion ideas. AmigaRemix and Vgmix might be better alternatives for sharing your mix. JJT
Repetitive, generic. Production is passable, but this sounds like background music. OCR is about music that engages the listener. If I ever needed some music to space out to and code C++ I'd pick this up in a heartbeat, but sadly I'm done with my programming classes. Use more harmonic/melodic variety and give the song some kind of dynamic shape if you're interested in getting mixes hosted by this site.
