djpretzel
Email sub file Crystal Winds.mp3 OCRemix Name: Valmanway REMIX FILE: Attached to e-mail, very very sorry... Real Name: Mike Hussion E-Mail: MHussion@gmail.com Website: http://www.chroniclesofrhyn.finalwaronline.net/ Forum Name: Valmanway -- Game Remixed: Conquest of the Crystal Palace Song Remixed: Stage 1 - Mt. Crystal Additional Information: Composed by two people known only as Tomohisa and Iwatan, this is a remix of the incredible 1st stage music of the game. The game was for the NES and was made by Asmik. Link to Sound Archive (.NSF): http://www.zophar.net/nsf/conqcry.zip -- My Comments: Not bad... not bad at all for my first mix. I was just fiddling around one day through fits of boredom and I decided to play Conquest of the Crystal Palace -- little do I know that I end up playing it for about 3 hours. The first stage music is the best, most dynamic music, so there you have it!
Liontamer
http://www.zophar.net/nsf/conqcry.zip - Track 1 Thanks for providing the source information. Indeed, the original here is pretty catchy. Remix here is pretty basic with some generic and thin sounds, and too much volume. No sense of texture to this at all. Arrangement isn't particularly interpretive, most notably possessing some added harmonization and instrumental embellishments. You really need to get a lot more creative with your arrangement here and not just retain the melody and progression of the original wholesale. Nonetheless, you tried to add to things here, so it's not a NO Override, IMO. Keep trying to learn by reading up on the ReMixing forum and posting your material to be commented on in the Works forum. JJT
The reverb + delay on the synths really makes this mix muddy. wow, that was a lot of alliteration....anyway moving on. This is too straight ahead of an arrangement for OCR. It could also stand for some better synth design. Keep at it. NO
GrayLightning
Well, it doesn't bode well when you start off the mix with quite a bit of clipping/distortion/audio anomalies that aren't pleasing; and they continue throughout the mix. This alone really is enough to sink this boat. I can't count how many times I twitched due to the sudden grating sound. The mix itself is put together pretty well. It's definitely a good first attempt, and far better than the normal class of mixes we get from a new mixer. Though as it stands, it's too straight-forward and basic a mix. Wasn't particularly muddy on my side, but the production was in general bland. I do like the phased/processed drums though, at least there was something going on in the production design. To cap it off though was an uninspired though ok ending. Not bad, keep at it, but this mix still suffers from noobitis in some ways. That's not meant to be an insult, but this just isn't up to the bar yet. Keep working at it, learning and participating in the WIP/Remixing forums here at OCR.
