Esperado Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) Im looking to improve my percussion arrangements in my mixes (not necissarily just the drums). I feel i have an alright understanding of how variation works, but I would like to dig a little deeper into what makes up good percussion. It seems like theres plenty of stuff out there about music theory in terms of chords and melodies , but not as much about percussion. Any good percussion related articles, blogs, books or other media? Any must-listen songs for drum arrangement? Edited July 16, 2014 by Esperado edited title. Quote
timaeus222 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) Well, I dunno about resources, but I've known examples I loved when thinking about drum writing. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01849 - Jazz Fusion http://zirconstudios.bandcamp.com/track/system - Eclectic rhythms http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02767 - Unique rhythm that makes an otherwise plodding groove lock you in. Plus, dat drum solo. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02703 - slow drums in unusual context Edited July 16, 2014 by timaeus222 Quote
