HoboKa
Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes)Round 40: Brave Fencer Musashi - The Musashi Legend In that case, for my pick I'll have to go with an old favorite of mine: "The Musashi Legend" from Brave Fencer Musashi. I still remember the day I booted up my shiny new PS1, popped in the demo disc and started this gem of a game up. -Kat Midi: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP40_bfmusashi.mid Youtube: https://youtu.be/FBzZB7rZlqADeadline: August 27 @ 1 pm ThursVote Ends: August 29 @ Midnight SatSubmit your remix Here when completed. **If you have technical difficulty with account activation at ThaSauce, please contact me via PM and I will submit your track and will also tally your vote**MISSION STATEMENTThe goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required.MnP Instructions/Guidelines1. Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted.2. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell.3. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met.4. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max).5. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry.6. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and ConductMISC/TIPS- When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier.- In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)- Certain sad or moody source tunes don't have drums or percussion for a reason. So keeping it that way may be the easiest way to retain much of the original feel, such as and
Paladin
Amazing tune. But how are you supposed to fence with that sword? Look at the size of it.
Kat
Amazing tune. But how are you supposed to fence with that sword? Look at the size of it. See, it's sort of misleading. He actually "fences" with the smaller sword(called Fusion). That's also the sword you start out with, and you get the large one(Lumina) later. He still manages to effectively dual wield them, though. So I guess your question still stands. I'm just gonna go with "A wizard did it.". Gonna throw together a bonus song for sure.
Paladin
I honestly can't come up with any argument against "A wizard did it" so I suppose I'll have to let him off the hook.

Troyificus
Whelp, I'm thinking that my entry is just too darned pretty for this world. Every time I try to export it my DAW crashes and burns. If I have time I might try and export each track in it individually and see if that works, otherwise I'm afraid I shall be entry-less! HoboKa
http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP40 ^ Trism's entry and Kat's BONUS can be found here. Comments: Kat: Really loving the sample usage, even the sax sample sounds cool - not an easy thing to pull off. Really love the dynamics and the percussion work as well. Good energy and it feels pretty MNP Good work Kat. Trism: Oooooo Heavy!! But still within MnP feelz for sure. High energy - not bad for something that was put together in 1 or 2 days haha. I like the brass samples, the flute and percussion especially. Actually that asian sounding flute is a good touch too. For some reason this reminds me of Castlevania - Symphony of the Night. No clue as to why lol. Just has that CV feel.

It might be because I added in a bassline to give it some extra 'oomph' to go along with the drumtrack
Kat
even the sax sample sounds cool - not an easy thing to pull off Glad you liked it, I had to whip out the midi keyboard and play practically all of it(especially the solo towards the end) to get the sound. I actually had a mallet ensemble playing in that area at first, but I decided to try a violin trio leading into a sax solo, which led to the sax having a more integral part in the piece. Trism: Really loved what you did with it, especially the percussion elements. The extra bass really gave it a dash of epic. My only complaint is that the brass staccatos felt overpowering, but that could just be my speakers.
