HoboKa
Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes)Round 42: Final Fantasy IX - Soulless Village Alright then, for my pick I'll go with another PS1-era favorite of mine: "Soulless Village - Branbul" from FF9 -Kat Midi: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP42_ff9branbul.mid Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVIulhzJ9zADeadline: October 6th @ 1 pm TuesVote Ends: October 8th @ Midnight ThursSubmit your remix Here when completed. **If you have technical difficulty with account activation at ThaSauce, please contact me via PM and I will submit your track and will also tally your vote**MISSION STATEMENTThe goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required.MnP Instructions/Guidelines1. Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted.2. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell.3. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met.4. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max).5. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry.6. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and ConductMISC/TIPS- When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier.- In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)- Certain sad or moody source tunes don't have drums or percussion for a reason. So keeping it that way may be the easiest way to retain much of the original feel, such as and
Eino Keskitalo
Totally got a FFIX kick going, thanks in no small part to Worlds Apart (but also saw a FFIX suite in a VGM orchestral concert last week).. it'd be fun to participate.. so much fun stuff to do, so little time, but MnP is always good for trying to do something fast and not worry too much (just subbed my two-day effort from MnP037, the Xenon round) so we'll see! Xenonetix
Just because it's a cool remix of this (that's not MnP in the slightest), I felt I should link this rare remix of Soulless Village - https://youtu.be/-opDtHinhB4 I was so happy to be one of the lucky few to get a physical copy of the SquareDance album

Troyificus
I think you win Bah! That is no victory! To win you need to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

NICE totally missed that you subbed your MnP 37 entry, it is bad ass. Kind of a necro post, but better late than never right? COMMENTS -Trism love that mellow interpretation, great soundscape and percussion effects. Really love how you made the reverby, reverse sounds with the (cymbals?) - the bells are also REAL swag. -Kat this is a beautiful piano, saxaphone duet thingy. Nice touch with adding the strings at 1:28. I like the articulation touches with the saxophone, somewhat fakey, but it's not really a problem for me, cuz my standards are lower DAMNIT and I care more about it sounding cool than realistic. Honestly this would be a difficult vote if Trism was actually competing with Kat - cuz you both rocked this round!!
