Liontamer
Given Pete's "typical" upbeat style, this one's quite the eye-opener for his range as a musician. Awesome orchestration, and I dug the finish with the piano, which resolved things nicely. :-)
Xaleph
I love the atmosphere you create with the instruments in this song. Great use of depth (percussion) and lightness with the piano. As a brass player, I really appreciate the brass being used =)
MegaMixtape
I'm not familiar with the source, but it makes me wonder if the original sounds as good as this! Really enticing orchestration and the piano at the end is the cherry on top. Loved it!
Dyluck
I've not played Dark Souls (put the pitchforks and torches down! I'll get to it one day...) but this is pretty much the atmosphere that I associate with the game. That brass early and tubular bells hit hard. Those chugging strings keep the tension high. Beautiful instruments used beautifully create a very moody heroic tale with sonic chiaroscuro. The piano at the end with the radio-like filter is just the perfect touch to close, and then that cinematic beat... yes. This is my view of Dark Souls in a nutshell. Hemophiliac
Dramatic, solemn, and cinematic. Hybrid-orchestral take that is very evocative. The opening string parts passing back and forth had a quality of ticking clocks. I felt this had some restraint to it, because I kept expecting it to get to a bigger and larger dynamic but it keeps the energy from getting too big and that gives an anticipatory feeling. Wish it got bigger to climax, but I can understand not going there to keep a certain feeling. Great execution, good arrangement.
Shadowlight
Very meditative, moody, and oddly frantic with the metronome like measures and delegated tempo. Plenty of drama. Love this song, and what a great light flourish at the very end! Well done!
