I was looking through youtube for inspiration, went through a few Final fantasy games, some Donkey kong, and other stuff, but couldn't really find a melody that inspired me at that moment. Then i stumbled across "Bubsy" and got some real nostalgia instantly. I had a very toxic relationship to this game... very.. So the first level it was, that melody. Perfect for my new template, and in a experimental style, not entirely sure what to specify it as, maybe something in the "Electro" Valley or something. Song isn't too long, i wasnt being too creative with it as i just had to adore the original melody as i was having all the flashbacks, where i died in game, for no reason. Now after i finished the remix, i also go all week having this melody stuck in my head aswell. haha. Was great fun. Kenneth
prophetik music
quickly into the melodic content on this one - the beat's in almost right away, along with some snappy sfx. there's a lot of space in the initial beat and it feels really bouncy and open as a result. melody is pretty straightforward but i like the burbles behind the synth lead. there's some playing with time at 0:45, and we're into a more consistent beat at 0:51. 1:04's got a half-time section - i love the bass here, and the lead tone is great too. 1:27's where the half-time section ends and it gets back to melodic content soon after. i like the focus on the beat there for a few seconds to get us back into the original time sig before going after the melody. there's a drop at 2:25 to give us a break before the ending blow, and then the track goes through one more bit of half-time section before it's done. this is short and sweet. it's a catchy melody and you did a nice job highlighting that. i like the way you mixed up the time a bit - like when you were playing with where the downbeat falls, or when you did the halftime section. this isn't anything complicated but it's fun and enjoyable. nice job. Liontamer
Dayum, comes out sounding cramped right from the get-go, but man this is hitting the listener hard with intense sound. The core beat pattern at :51 was plodding but only lasted until 1:03. IMO, the bass writing, which is good, was pushed down and obscured, which made the writing & textures feel more simplistic than they really were. It's not a B-laze track without going over the top on the volume, yet the drop at 2:26 was nice and spacious with totally different instrumentation (including some chippy spices), so kudos for a nice bit of contrast there (and for providing a "let me up" moment). Nice original writing at 2:47, which turned out to be the finish rather than an set-up for more treatment of the melody; a lil' unorthodox, but it's a resolution; it's also better to leave 'em wanting more rather than overstaying the welcome. Heavy as a sumbitch, B-laze brought the power to this theme! Bubsy's finally gonna get some spotlight here, that's awesome! :-) YES
Flexstyle
Without going too deep, this is pretty solidly in fair territory for me. Fun, bouncy arrangement that never wore out its welcome, the master compression was AGGRESSIVE but livable, and my toe tapped along the entire time. Percussion is simple but effective, never getting too old nor going overboard. Almost wish it had had a reprise at the end, tbh, but I can live with it as-is. This is NoCopyrightSounds meets OC ReMix, style-wise, and I'm 100% here for it. YES
Chimpazilla
Very heavy soundscape right off the bat, but it's full and rich, and everything is balanced really well. What a fun, upbeat little tune! I love the vocal clips. The breakdown at 2:25 was a welcome respite from the heavily compressed soundscape, followed by some nice original noodling and then... it's done? The ending is rather abrupt and the whole thing is too short, but if that's my biggest gripe that's not too bad. I like it! YES
