Lyrics:

It's the real
Deal
We keep it on the DL
We got slick flowin' and the fit funk feel
You courting controversy, I'm the in-house polemicist
My drive's more mega than an overclocked Genesis

How do I do it? Is it born or bred?
I could check the DNA but I'm a lousy geneticist
But either way, yea, it must be said
Yo, my rhymes is so funky I gotta call a hygenicist

It's just the emphasis I place with such an eloquence
My excellent intelligence demands no further evidence
But if I sense the listener has got incredulous
I got a chorus, let me introduce the elements

You just don't know what we're doin'
We locked in the rhythm, the rhythm is just groovin'
You just can't hear what we're sayin', uh
But you gettin' what we're playin' at

I got a chorus, let me introduce the elements

You just don't know what we're doin'
We locked in the rhythm, the rhythm is just groovin'
You just can't hear what we're sayin', uh
But you gettin' what we're playin' at
Just don't know what we're doin'
We locked in the rhythm, the rhythm is just groovin'
You just can't hear what we're sayin', uh
But you gettin' what we're playin' at

TJ&E has such great soundtracks.

fun beat right away, you can tell this is going to have a fun vibe. bass sounds awesome right away - 50-second bass opening? yes please! - and the beatbox stuff is great! what a fun idea.

band sound comes in at 0:53. LT's right that it's a little messy on the mixing side right away - there's a ton going on and it gets a little tight as a result. joe sounds fantastic on the sax throughout this. vocals are hilarious. some great rhymes and well performed.

more bass and groove at 2:48. there were a few times in here that this is just the slightest bit off time-wise and it's more obvious due to instrumentation. sax solo at 3:27 was excellent, and props for mastering it differently so it sticks out of the mix better than the parts from earlier. the wah effects are fun too.

4:45 is kind of just cruising - this almost sounded like it was missing a solo that got muted until the vocal parts came back in. after the vox parts, there's a bit of autopilot again and then it's done after a shout chord. i can hear joe's pads clacking at the end =P

the track has a few parts that are just kind of cruising along and not really going anywhere near the end, but overall this is a gem. tons of character throughout and a really fun idea executed well. i agree it's a bit messy sometimes like what LT said but this is definitely over the bar.

A strong arrangement, with fun solos, and solid performances all around. The source is well represented and the solos all feel like the right vibe for this track. The beatboxing was a nice touch and something we don't get to hear much of around the community.

The mix isn't the cleanest and that seems to be due to just clutter of parts around the mid-range. Not so much as to create a ton of mud or clutter, because I can still follow each part individually. It's just not a crystal clear glass, it's just got a little smudge on it. The other gripe I have and I suspect it may have just been one of the only places it could have cut through is the bonga. It's really cutting through with the panning placement far to the right, so it stands out and cuts through on the right when it's being played strongly.

The vocals were mostly handled well, I can generally make out most of what is being said with only a couple times where I questioned what words were being specifically said. Oh and I would be remiss to not mention the bass with this being TJ&E. Excellent usage of the bass and letting it shine out when it's time for it to, like the intro and the middle section before the solos.
