Liontamer ⚖️ Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Original Decision Artist Name: Azina *RESUBMISSION* https://ocremix.org/community/topic/59313 As far as arrangements go, this begins with only small shifts. Fae-like playful piano accents electric guitar performing the harmonic structure typically played on piano. This continues until the second loop where a heartbeat rhythm is established in the low end, and choir-esk vocals underpin the very prominent main melody. The piece ends with a demure "victory theme" of my own making. Extra notes: Care was taken towards preventing the -2dB hardclip and other conflicting lows. Significant time was put into trying to keep fullness of sound while also clearing all that up. Hopefully it comes through! Games & Sources The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toru_Minegishi Link to the composer; apparently he's the one who composed the gamecube startup sound.
Chimpazilla ⚖️ Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Looking at my previous vote, it seems my mixing crits have all been addressed. This sounds much better balanced. This render seems to be a premaster, it spends most of its runtime around -5db peak, and only ever hits -2.3db peak at the fullest section. I'd be glad to do a master on this if desired. Regardless, this is enough production improvement for me to pass it as-is. Nice little personalized cover of one of my favorite Zelda tunes of all time. YES
prophetik music ⚖️ Posted August 12 Posted August 12 in my last vote, i called out the need for EQing and volumization to avoid clipping, but loved the arrangement. i love the delicate opening guitar work, with so much variety in how the instrument's being used. the fluttery, glassy burbles around the 1:00 mark are really nice. there's a bit of a break at 1:23, and we get a new feel coming out of that when the melody comes back at 1:35. the vocals are just light and distant enough to really add flavor without being able to focus on them - the spacing is really nice. there's an outro that's pretty rhythmic, and it's done. this is now a lay-up in my opinion. mix is far better, approach is simple but beautiful, and the vibe is great. nice job! paradiddlesjosh ⚖️ Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) In my previous vote, I felt the production issues that proph and Chimpazilla touched on were the only elements holding this track back from being posted on the site. And it sounds like those issues have been resolved! The arrangement was never in doubt. Between the new accompaniment approaches in the keys and bells, the string elements and vocals, and the clean electric guitar, there's plenty of personalization in this to sell an otherwise straightforward take on the source material. Nice work! YES Edited August 13 by paradiddlesjosh
