Artist Name: Juan Medrano

Just a remix of the Friday the 13th cabin theme I started several years ago. Wanted an atmospheric, spooky 80s horror film sound with heavy guitars. Pretty simple. As always, had a blast playing around with those vintage synth sounds.

Very piercy bell to open things up, yowza between 3-4KHz.  Dark atmo established right away, very cool.  Intro feels like it goes on sort of long without anything new happening aside from bell, bass and drums.  The drums are mixed very quietly and the rhythm seems to be fairly autopilot other than some fills.  Guitar sounds great when it kicks in at 1:24.  But other than chugs and the bell nothing really interesting seems to be happening as this arrangement moves along.  Ok at 2:34 finally we get some soloing which is wonderful.

I like this remix, it's more of a vibe than a proper arrangement in my opinion.  A lot of it is texture or bell-and-chugs and lacks a real lead, as the bell is mostly playing arps.  The guitar lead is great and I love the soloing but there isn't that much of it.  There is no breakdown to give the listener a break from the relentless drum patterns; the energy stays the same all the way through the track once established after the long intro.

The production and mastering sound good and fine other than my nitpicks about drum volumes and piercy bell.

I still think this is passable and probably cool for Halloween release, although I think more could have been done with the arrangement.

opens with bells and some distant strings. big prototypically evil bass synth comes in soon after as well as some limited kit with loads of verb on it. track kind of doesn't go anywhere initially - it's just playing back the bell lead which is basically just arps. guitar comes in at 1:25 and sounds great, as expected. 2:18 the drum rhythm changes a bit and is more intense which is nice, as it definitely was starting to feel a bit stale. i wouldn't have minded a change to the lead when the guitar came in or sometime after.

the solo's nice and technical which is a nice change to what we've heard so far. there's some fun harmonized elements at 3:15 which was nice, and i like the expansion of the arps into the guitar lead right after this. that's a nice touch i didn't expect. the bells come back once more at the end to walk through the descending chord pattern, and then we get a less distorted guitar walk through the chords once as well, and it's done.

this isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's a fun take on a repetitive original. i wouldn't have minded if the first half was a little shorter, but what's here sounds great and is definitely passable.

I enjoyed the overall dynamics of this as the track gradually rose in tension, complexity, and interpretation. Excellent way to start with the core source theme and branch out, which made winding back to the arranged melody at 3:21 all the more satisfying. :-) The airier guitar lead at 4:00 was a beautifully melancholy way to finish it, and now I'm wanting to hear another variation of this source done in that style as another fork in the road! Nice work, Juan!
