anonymous hippopotamus Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I'm looking to buy an external recording interface for my Macbook Pro. I'd like to take advantage of my Firewire 800 port, which is significantly faster than the common Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 connections. I'm going to guess that I won't have much luck, considering I ran a search on zzsounds for "Firewire 800" and it only gave me one result (some high-end interface) Any help would be appreciated My budget is something like $200. Thanks! Quote
analoq Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 My budget is something like $200. two words of advice: give up. if you're looking in that price range you're obviously not looking to record over 8 channels of audio simultaneously; in which case Firewire 400's bandwidth is more than you'll use. as far as latency goes, your biggest culprit will still be your CPU. cheers. tgfoo Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I've never seen a FW 800 interface in that price range. Just go for a FW 400 interface. Quote
