This one of my orchestral essays, using as motif one of the Final Fantasy 9 themes (don't remember the name).

Is my latest orchestral arrangement and I'm pretty happy with it (yay, something decent at least :P)

i think polls get no love on the wip forums

OK, this is good...enjoyable even haha its really good. I think the mastering is what needs the most work. The soundscape just seems like it could be better. This is hard to describe, but most orchestral mixes have that nice even feel to em, all the instruments blend in together. Like in Jeremy Soule's Terra remix how all the instruments create that soundscape. Prob in places in this mix the lower octave sounds (the non-staccato) could be more in the foreground to add to this effect. Give the mix a deeper richer feel in areas. This would def work as the main melody is full of emotion, but some of the harmonies don't carry that same feeling and rush of emotion as the main melody does.

Bells around 1:58 seem to ring just a lil too high, perfect idea. Kinda hurt my ears just a lil.

Damn I really had to dig deep on this one for some good criticism. This is really well done. Not very familiar with the source tune, been ages since I played FFIX and I didn't play very much of it.

hahaha. Thanks ericharris.

About recognizing the source tunes: There's only one source tune!!.Most of the times I try to add original parts to the mixes. For example, from 0:43 to 1:23 is pure invention.

To avaris : I'll try to work on the mastering

edit:

Here's some attemp of mastering
