  1. In response to the person who said pyramid head looked too green: I disagree. Looks more red than green to me.
  2. Spc1st, well, whether the original is melodious or not, it's got to be recognizeable. can't just make up your own song and say 'there wasn't much to work with.' That said, I'd try contacting PriZm about guitar for the part you've written. I know I can't play it at this point. edit: my guitar playing style is very abstract and noisey...
  3. hmm, rexy, that's much better. Far less clunky, and it sounds like you made some parts a bit softer, which is nice. Ichitootah, I like it, ...That transition with the piano back to the melody = me puking, and I'm sure you know it. I'm not too keen on just how jazzy that piano solo is, but I don't feel like bothering to ask you to change de-jazz it. Spc1st, it's a cool intro, but...like...I can't hear the original in there...and...can you actually play the guitar? because...Sampled guitar is probably one of the sounds I hate most in this world, apart from rhodes... That is all. Keep at it, my friends. Don't be discouraged. I'm being scathing on purpose.
  4. woops, I missed your new wip in the sway of things. I'll give you some feedback later today.
  5. I've asked The Prophet of Mephisto to look into doing a second song, and I may do the same thing myself, once I get done with the SSF2T project's remix. This will help to even out the tracklisting. That said, don't go trying to do a second song if you're done. Wait until I ask you.
  6. ugh. still working. Not a lot of time on my hands recently...have 6 more pages of short story to write by monday. I'll be back onto it once this school junk's out of the way.
  7. only as an indication of arrangement...since they're not indicative of sound quality...or even instrumentation
  8. Yeah, I meant a wider range. there are times when I think it should be quieter. For example, the faster section is all out loud, when I think it could be more subtle. the clinkyness I'm referring to is to do with the harsh attack, yes. If possible try softening it. Sometimes, when my pianos sound too clunky, I put a filter on them that cuts out some of the highs and mids.
  9. Hmmm, I like your arrangement, rexy, but I feel like your piano sounds too clinky, I don't know if you can do anything about that. And, I'm hoping that you'll be doing a bit more about dynamics in the melody (I can hear dynamics in the background parts...) Meh, keep it up. p.s. You KNOWS I love a lot of reverb in the Rizzazz!
  10. ...Actually, I agree with Joker....perhaps we shall discuss it tomorrow in greater detail, folk.
  11. Dafydd, I think it's safe to say you're on the project. I think the bassey cello thing you're using might be too loud, but the bass that comes in with the drums is fine. I like the whole thing, really.
  12. Well, that was reasonable... I'm a bit iffy on the drums being so hard, though. Might just be a volume issue for me, though. I see you've altered the song by making it minor. It's not what I would have done, but I think it works. You can have it.
  13. Gimme some of that SirRus-y goodness...You know the rules, right?
  14. Happy new year thread. I hope the rest of you aren't alone and depressed like I am.
  15. my venomous spines are ever so soft...just like a young woman's breast, except it's sharp, poisonous, and not at all pleasant. now everyone quit celebrating and get back to work.
  16. since I'm currently without my standard software/hardware, I'm working on melodic and lyrical ideas right now...Hopefully I'll be able to jump right in to mixing again.
  17. I HATE rhodes keyboards, and furthermore, his drums were subpar in terms of sound quality. Apart from his inability to enjoy and embrace my extreme dislike for those two things, my opinion is that his song being pulled was the result of misunderstanding, and his own swollen pride. No, I'm not talking about a penis. Furthermore, Merry Christmas, Thread. Your present is a bump that you don't deserve.
  18. Anyway, I think what we need is for dafydd to give us a further progressed wip with more done to see whether it'll be okay. I think It could be alright in terms of sound quality, but style and mood are important.
  19. Remember, I wasn't saying rock OR orchestral OR electronic, I was saying Rock, orchestral, and electronic AS ONE. Like...put them together if you can. also, unless you're making DnB...the drums and bass probably shouldn't be the main focus of your piece...I mean...melody's what it's all about...otherwise it's not a song. UPDATE: Just so everyone knows, I'm going away for christmas in approximately 13 minutes...which means I'll be away from my own personal computer for about 2 weeks. I'll try to check up on the thread, but I probably won't be around nearly as much. I want everyone to work as hard as possible on getting done by January 10th. I will be suspending the deadline for a few people I've already spoken to, but I'm expecting anybody who signed up before the beginning of december to be relatively close to being done in January sometime. Please post wips as you work on the song, so I can follow along with your progress. I want everyone to be actively commenting and being constructive. Finally, spread the word, yo. Nobody cares about us! Spread the word!
  20. hmm, I'm not particularly looking for Relaxing. I'm looking for atmospheric music. I think the wip's okay, so far...but I'm not sure if I like it as a project piece quite yet. I'm not so big on that big crunchy synth you're using as a bass, as sometimes when it goes low, it loses its melodicness and just plays the same note when it's not supposed to. I'm not going to give this the oficial Okay yet. Let's see what other people have to say about it...
  21. unless I work on this in the next two days instead of studying my ass off for my next exam, I won't be able to work on mine til january, which is unfortunate...
  22. Well. The thing about that mix is that it's well arranged...but it's using some really...not good horn sounds. The drums are alright, but as I usually end up finding myself saying...Almost all of this stuff sounds like a General MIDI soundbank. ...Unless of course...it was your plan to write in midi first... Either Way, I think if you gave your project files (depending on what you're using to make this) to someone-- i.e. me-- they could switch up some of the sounds so that they come out sounding less synthesized. I also think that some of your brass stabs could be replaced by a live guitar, if someone else were interested....i.e. me. Of course, if this is just preliminary, allow me to add ketchup to the foot in my mouth.
  23. I'd say everyone should shoot for around 4 minutes, give or take.
