I'd call it having standards
If those are the standards of video game journalism, I'm glad I don't read any of that garbage.
The way I see it is that the important people behind the series were trying to trick their consumers into thinking it was a good game when in actuality it wasn't. Thank goodness that people like Gerstmann are willing to stand up and be like "naw, this game sucks, I cannot lie". So they fire him. That's the point in which the series (the developers, marketting dept, etc) have failed us, and that's the point in which I have decided that the series does not deserve a *fair chance*. As long as it's coming from those people, I feel like I can't trust them. I don't see why this way of thinking would upset any of you
I just don't get how one guy getting fired for giving a game a fair unbiased review means that any subsequent games in that franchise deserve to be unfairly shit on by other reviewers. It's just as deceptive as being paid big money for positive reviews. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that jazz.
Like I said, if you as a consumer want nothing to do with the franchise, fine whatever. I just don't agree with your point that the game deserves low scores solely because of the Gerstmann deal. It should earn those scores because it's a shit game.
On the flip side, I suppose if the sequel were produced by an entirely different group of people, it would be silly to begrudge them for the former developer's foul play.
But the devs had nothing to do with it. It was Eidos. Even if the game was handed to another studio, Eidos would still be in charge of publishing and marketing.

I just think it's unprofessional to give a game low scores without giving it a chance, just as much as giving a game high scores for big advertiser bucks. If you personally as a consumer want nothing to do with the series, fine, but for people whose job it is to review these things*, holding a grudge over that incident seems so petty. Especially since the man it personally affected has moved on to better things.
*not including ZP, who shits on everything regardless.

Plus, K&L series doesn't really deserve good reviews based on those shenanigans a couple years ago... just saying.
Why? If Jeff Gerstmann can put that stuff behind him and give the sequel a fair review, why shouldn't anyone else. It's not really fair to the devs to hate on their game for something that was out of their hands.

Let's see... Mega Man series, Legends, Battle Network... Yep, that's three versions. I almost added in the X series and the remakes but they don't really count, do they?
X is pretty different from Megaman Classic so why not?
There's also Ugly American Megaman, Ryu, and Arthur so it's not just all Megamen

Not sure about this, but it had a retail release sequel in Japan named Neo Geo Heroes Ultimate Shooting, which also contains a port of Sky Stage. This one didn't limit itself to only KoF characters and added Marco Rossi (Metal Slug), Akari Ichijo (Last Blade), Iroha (Samurai Shodown VI), and SYDIII (Armored Scrum Object).
EDIT 2: Speaking of upcoming XBLA titles, a new Bangai-O was just announced for this fall called Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury. It's set for a 800 MS point ($10) price point.

PRC63 used Judgement (MS2- Stage 1) as the theme. Not as awesome as Virts, but it's something.

Yeah, that underwater level was hell. Never could beat it as a kid. Not really a problem for me now though.
Here's to hoping for EWJ2 HD sometime down the line.
The 360 version is superior btw, since you get Jim's supersuit as an avatar reward.

No, but this updated one with 6 face buttons will.
[The problem:] The 360 D-Pad is a solid disc, as opposed to separate buttonsNot really. The Saturn D-pad is also a disk and that's regarded as the best D-pad in the world. I personally haven't tried it, but I hear this mod improves the d-pad significantly.

I know on Nestopia, you can assign certain buttons to be turbo, but I haven't figured that out on ZSNES.
A SNES or Dualshock controller are good emu controllers. I don't really recommend a X360 controller since it has a pretty shitty d-pad.

At first I wondered "why not take the easy route and just lose the rings?" (and so lose weight), but if you cross the finish with many rings without dying then you get many points.
You only lose weight by running around or hitting a "?" monitor. Losing rings by getting hit does nothing.

Megaman 2. It's the first game I distinctly remember loading just to listen to the music. The music is the sole reason I never got pissed off at getting stuck in the first Wily Stage as a kid.

You know trouble was brewing when you started seeing Nickelodeon selling this movie out all over the place. That was mistake number one; what were they thinking? "Hmm, who should we get to help us produce a major live action anime crossover epic?" "How 'bout the guys that made Good Burger!?" "Brilliant!"
But it's a Nickelodeon property. Of course they're going to have a hand in it.

Joey is a spin-off of Friends, and yet it still takes place in the same universe
Likewise, X, Zero, Legends, etc are all spinoffs of the original series.
I don't even know how this argument happened. predcon got his terms mixed up and I just pointed out that MM7 is not a spinoff.

PSN Trophies/XBox Achievements - Good or Bad?

So you obsess over those that obsess over them?
I think they're great. They've added more replay value to some games for me. I don't really care about the gamerscore aspect, I just see them as extra challenges the devs put in there for me to complete. Unless it's an online only or stupidly impossible achievement, I'll probably go out of my way to at least try to get it.
And really, so what if some people play only for the score. It's not my time or money they're wasting, so why should I care.
