Why would you laugh? The whole reason I'm here is to find someone who I can play a good game with. That's why I've been limping out on most of my games, because I don't really care to play unbalanced games.
Enough with your candor!
-
someday, someone will come to this league who will absolutely crush clef.
then I will laugh.
Kasparov retired in 2005. Sorry.

Ye gods! Why me???

If I were sticking with my math major, I'd be taking Abstract Algebra I next semester, along with Numerical Analysis I...
But a math minor'll have to do instead.
-
Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Anything to help a fellow GA Jedi Knight.

A problem for all you Math people out there.
I need to find the sum of the following series:
I know that if the starting condition was n=0, the sum would be equal to e^5. However, it has a starting point of n=1. So how do you find the sum of it?
...maybe try subtracting 1?
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's correct.
The sum, as you mentioned, looks a lot like the infinite sum representation of e^x. As such, it behaves the same way, but the one you have shown here is missing the initial term of n=0. So you can merely subtract (5^0)/0!, which is 1. Therefore, the sum converges at e^5 - 1.

Hmm... remember what I said yesterday about not playing my best lately? Yeah, seems Falchion caught a whiff of that today...
Rainman DX vs. Falchion39, 0-2.

wow... im still on the scoreboard.
good thing too - im joining next tourney. Just need to find a new client for AIM (Vista doesnt like GAIM, and I refuse to install the AIM client.)
I'll field this one, kamoh.
As we've been over this before, by "next tourney", I'm sure you mean, NEXT WEEK. However, you can't play next week, since next week is the playoffs.
You're welcome to startup with many of the others in January, however. You will hardly be at a disadvantage to the rest of us, as long as you play well from the outset.

Here's two of my games with Johnderrilll. The first is our first game, the second is a third match we played for fun. I forgot to save the second one.
He let slip some mistakes, as did I. Suffice to say neither of us brought our A games to the table.
In summary,
Rainman DX vs. Johnderrilll, 2-0.

These are not ACTUAL placements, but Keegan and Rainman are definitely in the top4.
That's right, bitches. Keegan by skillzors, Rainman by pure volume of matches.
EDIT: Dangit, JD, the light's on all day, but nobody's home.

im wating for my chance to strike. i look foward to playing rainman. 1. Nf3 or 1. ... Nf6 FTW!
Ho ho ho. JD, you never cease to make me chuckle.

Your mom's impending.
Also, good to have you again, Arek.
You at the Capitol One Nothing Bowl is impending.
Negativo. We accepted a bid to the Toyota Gator Bowl, January 1st, against one of either a) Texas, Louisville, or c) West Virginia. While our odds of winning against any of these teams is something short of possible, it will still be easier than any team we might have faced at the Orange Bowl.
^ Oh, and whatcha tryin' to do, spoil my chances of getting first place? Man, sucks to be me...

Hmmm... as it stands right now, after Keegan loses his 20 point week, I will be in first place...
by a point. Sweet!

For the record, I tried to get DropZero2000, back in the day, to play me some across the board, but our schedules never worked out. So we just opted to play each other on Yahoo! from less than a mile away, basically.
On the other hand, I did beat him.
-
Also bear with the fact that I'm probably going to some crappy bowl game in New Mexico and will have someone else tabulate the final days of this phase.
Ah ha ha ha ha lol.
Orange Bowl, Miami FL, here I come.
-
If all else fails, use PM!
Works every time!

Alright, JD, all you've got to do is beat Keegan twice, and we share this week's top score. My success this week is entirely dependent upon you.
And dangit, kamoh, I want it clear that I've played every game assigned to me - and that includes two wins over Margoute in week 4. I hate to keep bringing it up. Get on the ball!
-
Yeah, Johnderrilll and I extend our as of yet one-sided history of games, and I manage to accrue a second win over him in regulation.

Okay, I am officially spent in every sense of the word but the way you are probably now thinking. After about three hours of chess, it's bedtime. Bug Setz or Dama for movelists; they may have got them. And I'm too tired to summarize them. Anyways, I couldn't do them justice if I tried. They were all good games.
Rainman DX vs. Setz, 2-0.
Rainman DX vs. Damathacus, 1 1/2-1/2.
And in a vainglorious effort to make sure I don't get the highest score this week, I will play Johnderrilll this weekend for my halfmatches.
-
Dama, Setz, and Johnderrilll, I will be available this weekend, and not really much more. Hope to catch youz guyz online then.
-
Hmmm. Kamoh, in week 4, are you giving me credit for 2 wins against Margoute?
You've got the right number of total possible points (76), but I'm missing a win over Margoute on the board -
it may just be notation or whatever, since I don't know why you'd put a single game in just the right column, savvy?
Thanks for the consideration.

Nobody mentioned me!
Just kidding. I know why too - my first tournament was also Johnderrilll's first tournament here at OCR, February of this year.
I am the Jimmie Foxx to Johnderrilll's Babe Ruth.
The Karl Malone to JD's Michael Jordan.
...
The Carmelo Anthony to JD's LeBron.
