This is really nice. Some things keeping it from being all it could be. Some of the lead guitar parts aren't the tightest, it's a bit conservative and the solos were slightly underwhelming.
Still, it's a great performance. It's mixed well and there are enough small details and stuff to separate it from the source. Really like the unison syncopated statements and the drummers great groove. Overall a nice track!

Groovy track! Like OA mentioned the mixing is a bit off and there are some minor tuning issues with the guitar. To me that's outshined by the groovy performance and good (but slightly conservative) personalization of the source though.
I don't have much to add really. Overall a good track. Could've been better but squeaks above the bar for me. Looking forward to hearing more tracks from you in the future!

A nice approach, I must admit. However this track fell short in a few areas. The arrangement takes a while until it reaches any source usage. When it gets there it's rather a simplification of "Movin'" than an arrangement, you could've taken a LOT more liberties here. The "Liberi Fatali" part was pretty cool but again it was lacking a lot in interpretation. Nice start manipulating those voice samples though!
The production is a bit problematic. You took a bold approach and I salute you for that but the sounds (even though they're interesting) sound quite flat and doesn't really fill up the frequencies. Adding some additional instruments (pads, something not distorted, different modulation etc.) can definitely help in that area and add some needed variation/counterpoint.
Overall you need some more interpratation and variation. Polish up that and fiddle a bit the production and you'll be in much better shape! This is a really cool track though so I look forward to hear how you develop it further.

What do you guys think of Kong? particularly the physical modelling.
Don't really use the physical modeling but I think the snare sounds great in electronic kit. Nothing super realistic tho

so I think i'm actually getting along with the sequencer better this time, even though it's essencially the same as 4's.
It'll probably take some getting used to, but + love some of the other new(er) features. I'm messing a bit more with the demo, but I think I'll get the upgrade.

Very nice adaption. Keeping the melody intact but going wild with the backing left and right, very cool. Liking it conceptually too! Some gripes about some insturments (drums, brass) being hard-panned left and right but nothing major...
Short and sweet, way to go. Now go make some more remixes!

Really thought long and hard about this. While it's not the best arrangement on OCR it squeaks over the bar for me. There IS some variation that I enjoyed, both in instrumentation and melody. Could've add some harmony changes but it's definitely not super conservative. The production wasn't the cleanest but it was nice with a pretty decent balance all things considered. Didn't have anything against the breakbeats at all.
To me there's just nothing pulling this under the bar to become a NO. It might not be perfect but it's passable. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!

Make sure it features the original publisher's logo, that it includes everything the original did and so on. It's not easy, hence why you should turn to sellers you can trust.

just updated the first post, all artists that are safe for the 75% deadline on december 1st have a ✔ by their name. All others, i will have to start getting on your back a bit more often until you get there, especially if you're still behind the 50% mark that you were supposed to meet two days ago. I hate to be a jerk but i don't see any reason for this to drag out longer than it has to!

I suggest Yahoo Japan auctions, that's pretty much the only place these rarities pop up nowadays. Then you also need some kind of middle-man service or a Japanese friend just to able to get the loots since most sellers don't ship outside Japan.
eBay is littered with bootlegs so stay clear of that

On the subject of having not listened yet (because I'm presently recording a new episode of my podcast), can I expect to find some "milk" or "In My Heart" action in this? Those are two of my absolute favorites. Concur with Doug about the "Shape Memory Alloys," though, too.
In My Heart is definitely on the list! I'm gonna try to get some vocals from Kota Hoshino so I can use the original track.
Also, in case somebody who cares missed it, the 5-track preview CD did amazingly well at Comiket! All 60 copies were gone in under 2 hours, pretty nice.

A complete update to the archive torrent with correct tagging for all mixes is underway. It has taken the backseat to other stuff but Larry's tagging away. This update will probably be pretty much all tracks up to the date it's released.

Pretty easy decision for me. Nice personalization both rhythmically, structurally and melodically. Definitely got a great sound, REALLY nice drums. If you're gonna copy someone Zircon is pretty much THE guy.
Nice soloing as per usual. This time around I also thought pretty much ALL your sounds were a perfect fit too, something that wasn't always the case before.Crisp, clear, interpretive and positively face melting. Two thumbs and my big toe up!

Like you said, the arrangement is on the conservative side. There are some nice melodic lines in the woodwinds and similar to spice things up though. Some decent variation of the main melody too. Still, the song stays close to the original genre and sound which makes it more conservative than it could've been. I do like the synth solos though and there are some nice drop-offs and build-ups.
Production falls a bit short. The mix is very centered with little-to-no panning being present except on the instruments way in the background. There's a distinct lack of bass frequencies which makes the remix sound a bit flimsy. There's also a lot of airyness from what sounds like a reverb put on most instruments, it helps muddy up the track even more.
The sounds used were varied both in terms of sound and quality. I liked the introduction of the orchestral elements in the background but most instruments occupied a similar frequency space so it wasn't as clear as it could've been. I thought some of the backing trance synths were a bit on the generic side but liked the chiptune additions.
Overall this track is close to passing in my opinion but the fact that it's a bit conservative coupled with the production issues makes it hard for me to pass it. I suggest revisiting this with fresh ears and try to polish it up a little bit more! Keep up the good work.

OA and DA were thorough so I'll keep it short. The arrangement is very good but the samples are dragging this down. This would be brilliant in a Nintendo 64 game but we desire a bit higher quality production and samples.
Please consider a collaboration or similar to get the production up to par because the arrangement is really, really good.

"Kou Hayashi and Daisuke Nagata (also known as k.h.d.n.) are two game composers I respect deeply. Their modern take on electronic shmup music is nothing short of brilliant. The textures range from organic pulsating to harsh, distorted noise. All these amazing textures always work perfectly with the game too, showing superb craftmanship. I've always been a fan of modern electronic game music, a part of VGM which sometimes gets overlooked. Obviously I had no choice but to pay tribute to k.h.d.n.!
This remix is my take on the memorable select music from Chaos Field. I tried to capture to dark, atmospheric track but make it a bit more dancefloor-friendly. A lot of effort went into finding the right textures and expanding these, the heavily automated Thor bass being something I'm especially proud of. The original melody is quite brilliant in it's simplicity so I've not tampered that much with it, instead the textures and new setting is the main focus. As always it was all made in Propellerhead's Reason/Record. I actually showed this track to Kou Hayashi on twitter and he enjoyed it very much. Here it is now for the rest of you to check out!
