  1. I've never really got into the subject of music untill I visited this site and listened to the music on this site. 4 years ago about, i pretty much was inspired to get into music from listening to this music, lol, my fm page has nothing but oc remixers on it. And I've been trying to do it for 4 years now and made alot of stuff, but I still havn't had the nerve to submit any of it. I know it sucks, the point is, your not going to get a remix on this site unless your willing to get to know music a bit more in depth, The bigger picture of this entire thing is just started to hit me right now.

  2. I apologize for posting this in the general discussion forums, I guess I got to anxious.

I really did spend alot of time on these, I've been making music for awhile now, I rarely ever finish them though, these are my only finished peices, and they are not at the top of my favorites ether, it's just, i can't get to 1 minute without ruining it.

It's like, I know everytime I find something that "can work", I'm never satisfied with it, should I listen to more music?

  3. Please give me feedback on my soundtrack creations, I'm aiming to make music for video games, films, anime cartoons,

etc. I worked pretty hard on these, I know they might come off as weird, but please, give them a listen and give me

    some feedback by comments.

I can't really described the way this one makes me feel... it sort of makes me think about goldeneye for some reason,

    lol.

    -The Hypnotist

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=4ypPm10FNCM

I think this one would go good in an anime track, I made it while trying to tell a short story. The progression of the

song is someone engaging a hypnotist, he then slowly gets hypnotized, and realizes it, but he accepts it, the texture

of the sound represents the perspective of the person being hypnotized, and how he enjoys being hypnotized by this evil

person, even though he knows it's bad for his health.

Theres something about that beat that really captured my ear, it's a bit reptitive after awhile but it's one of those sounds I've been trying to make on my own for such a long time but I just can't seem to do it, can you guys help me create something similar?

It sounds like, wooden, creaky, steel-gridish. I really want to use these types of sounds in my music, another similar sound would be massive attack, angel.

    all help is greatly appreciated.

I heard the beat was created with reason, which really surprized me, if thats true.

Also, I heard that music like this takes samples from a certain jazz cd or something and alter them, what is this all about?

  5. I'm usually inspired by the dynamics of a sound rather than a sequence of notes. Don't know why, whenever I here a certain sound it reminds me of images in my head, other things that inspire music are seeing images than translating those emotions into a sound, then music. I'm writing a peice called the Cheshire Cat once i whatched alice in wonder land with my nephew a few days ago. that thing is bizzarre.

  6. Now that you said you the site needs help I guess i will buy from Zzsounds.

my question is DJ Pretzil, how exactly do they know I'm buying from oc remix? Do I send them an email or something?

I'm going to put this money on a master card and get this stuff withen a month or so, I still havn't decided on an audio interface.

oh yeah, make that 2400$ because I'm ordering an east west sounds or whatever. :( don't got it at zzsounds...

  7. If you have an NT1A, don't even bother using the SM57 on an amp like that. It isn't a stereo amp, so you just need to use one mic. Place the mic right at the center of the speaker and back about 2-3 inches. Make sure to give the amp a good ammount of volume so the mic gets a good loud signal, but not too loud as condensers can clip the signal alot sooner than a dynamic can. If you need more body, try placing another condenser behind the amp pointing into the open back of the cabinet. But remember that you'll have two mics pointing at each other, so they'll be out of phase. If your preamp has a phase reverse switch, kick that in. Otherwise you can do it in any sequencer, I think, as long as you're not recording into a single stereo track but rather two mono tracks. Buena suerte, amigo!

    > the NT1A for micing cabs, sorry my friend.

  8. I've got Adam A7s and I'm not as cool as analoq but cool enough to get my own birthday thread. They're very neat.

Anyway, room size is more a logistical issue most of the time; can you cram all your stuff in there and reach it properly?

Nobody'll bash you for that, because putting money towards that is generally a sane action.

Eh, reflection is a property of the wall, not of the speaker. If you want that fixed, you need basstraps (not the cheap pointy foam; that's only for high frequencies).

oohh, those are bass traps? I already got them all over my room then. xD

I got them because my brother is always blasting his system at like 12 and night when I need to sleep for school and stuff.

anyways, thanks for the feedback, I would have submitted about 2-3 songs already snappleguy you cranky asshole, but they're all done on my bose multimedia speakers and sony-mdr nc6's. so I'm not going to submit them or even show them to you. and thats bad for you because there incredibly awsome mixes. for shame.

what about the presonus central station? is it a true d/a convertor? will it replace the d/a's on my sound blaster? are the d/a's on my sound blaster passable?

  9. I've listened to so many monitors now. And in my amature opinon, though, I swear to you it's the truth, the only cheap monitors that I've seen work really good are krkrp5's, I havn't heard any monitors that are better than it untill you start hitting the $500-600 dollar range. and when you start hitting that price range is when you start considering room treatment so just stick with the rp5's untill you can afford anything that will be an equal improvement which is 1000$ monitors and room treatment, don't be redudant about things like monitors because they will waste your wallet fast!

  10. I meant to post that as a second post just to yank your chain a bit, the first post didn't go trough now that I look at the thread twice.

The original post was intended towards the mackies you own. I heard alot of good things about them, I'm getting them because they have a wide frequency reponse and when I heard them in the store they sounded like they could do hip hop pretty well which is what i'm mostly into , and they sound wide, I'm not to concerned with making proffesional sounding music yet, which i won't be doing for about 40 million years or so. I just ordered a few books on that, but the point is, if your in a small room are those mackies a bad thing? are the dynaudio bm5a a better choice for small rooms because they don't reflect on walls as much? "from what I heard" I'm asking you because your the only human being on earth that I know for sure owns them.

I'm going to say this once and politely, please don't bash me about getting expensive monitors alright? I worked hard and saved up, I'm going to get a pair of monitors which are going to last me the rest of my life hopefully. I'm also getting pre sonus central station which is going to save me the trouble of getting a new sound card if it does have a d/a convertor like I heard.

Please respond, would have pm'ed you, but I'm looking for feedback from other people on these forums about Dynaudio BM5A vs Mackie MKII's.

My only concern is that the Dynaudio is missing low end, and I want my bass. It's ether have some of the low end, or get a sub woofer, if I get a sub woofer I can't get my uad card.
