  1. Item World. x.x

I loved Disgaea. I beat it, but after getting Laharl to level 1000 something I just couldn't do it anymore... The Item World confused me, and I couldn't do all the additional content because you had to have a crazy high level. But the story and presentation of the story was <3 I don't mind all types of grinding, but it wasn't enjoyable in Disgaea. Cave of Trials 3, attack, rinse, repeat.. ugh.

  2. Go download them :P I basically had a year off my last year of undergrad, and I spent a good chunk of that year playing old Wizardry and Might & Magic games (along with a fuck ton of classic Everquest via Project 1999). Nerdiest year of my life. It was awesome.

But.. but I've already played the good ones a whole whole bunch. :< Especially 5, oy vey. Though I skipped over 4 because it kicked my butt like whoa.

I wish the genre was popular in the US and more Wizardry-esque games were released here. Dark Spire was great. Etrian Odyssey bored me to tears.

Maybe I'll play Wizardry 6 again sometime soon. Stupid endings aside, that game was really awesome.

  3. Veteran is the best difficulty to me. Elite is just too much hp. I only play full offense builds so most things one shot me anyways.

Yeeeeees. Playing Elite was a lot of "WHY GOD WHY!?" but my new Embermage does fantastic on Veteran. My main complaint when I was playing with my friend was that the bosses would be downed in no time. /yawn. On Vet, it's not overwhelming, but there's actual challenge beyond holding a mouse button down now.

And I love when I can actually get set pieces: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=98691299 Those rare times when your character looks awesome and coordinated are <3

I wish they allowed for respeccing too. This isn't like, say, WoW where there's this illusion of choice. There's so much with every class that's viable and so many things to try out. My Outlander is okay but.. just okay, because she has so many points put into garbage. :x

  4. Since New Game + only applies to a character that's beaten the game I decided to play around and try other things out. So I made a Berserker on Elite. The playstyle of Berserker is pretty fun (one thing I love about Torchlight is the fact they actually make melee fun!) but Elite doesn't feel like a "fun challenge" so much as tedious. x.x Normal's been faceroll for me and my friend so maybe I'll give Veteran a shot and see if that's more my speed.

  5. Was finally able to start playing with a friend. So. Much. Fun. And as I progressed I found something out that made me happy but not sure if spoiler so I won't say what it is. XD

I'm playing an Outlander (dual wielding pistols) and my friend is an Engineer (seems to mostly be doing 1h/shield). We're just doing normal mode at first but we're already looking forward to doing harder difficulties later. I really want to try Embermage but I want to wait until beating the game and unlocking New Game + before making new people. I'm not terribly interested in Hardcore though as I have no interest in investing a ton of time into a character for them to likely end up dying because I derp it up somewhere. :x

Anyone doing much fishing? I mostly just get ordinary fish, but I've gotten a gold fish, summon imp spell, and a couple decent equipment pieces for my pet. I just wonder what some of the best stuff you can get is.

  6. Haven't been able to do the multiplayer thing with my friend since they're having issues, but single player campaign seems to work out just fine. I've played and I love it.

I sort of miss the old transmute system, but I also don't because I was such a hoarder in the first Torchlight. :x

  7. It's so heartening to see someone defending FF12 and the story. IMO FF7 has a far worse story.

I love Dragon Age but haven't finished it yet. I get all hyped for it, start a game, get to the Fade... and... ugh... I Hate this place so much... Then I never finish it. I just can't power through it.

And Gargan Roo in FF9 has always bothered me. It's an annoying place with horrible, horrible music that makes the situation even worse.

  8. So anyone know much about the AVGN drama/backlash going on? o.O I'm seeing bits and pieces of things and .. yeah. And also drama about the project itself and costs not adding up and how this Pabich guy is going to be pocketing a lot of extra money.

I dunno about that since I haven't done any sort of major research, but it's clear that A) People need to be careful about who and what they endorse with their name (AVGN), and be prepared to accept the consequences (good or bad) that come with it and B) People need to be careful about what they endorse with their money so they don't end up with "buyer's remorse"!

  9. I accidentally djp.

I was sketching a girl then I realized her hair looked like a pretzel. I then showed some terrible person who will remain anonymous, and he said she should be DJP-tan or some such. Figured this was a good as place as any to share the sketch. XD

    th_DJP-tan.jpg

And also if people had ideas for her outfit or accessories or color scheme they could share them, as I would like to finish this. It's cute I think. XD And yes, she is wearing one of those fabu shirts DragonAvenger made atm.

  10. I can't say I'm very impressed with this project. If it was Cheetahmen II redone or reimagined like the Giana Project that'd be amazing, imo. As is... ehn. 60 dollars is a lot of money to put down for a game that isn't good and is buggy and practically unplayable. And those lost levels can be accessed through game genie I think? It's been done somehow as the levels have been played on YT. So I guess an ending would be new?

I would hope at least they tweek the game to not suck as bad and not be as unplayable, but I doubt that since I imagine that'd be a selling point. Could be wrong though.

But even not supporting the project myself, I don't wish it to fail or anything. If it works out for these people and investors are happy, then hey, that's great for everyone involved.

  11. I can't get into horror type games like this or Amnesia at all. I look at gameplay and it doesn't seem scary to me at all. Maybe you have to actually be playing it yourself, I dunno. I don't think the LPers help either because I feel 99% of the reactions from LPers to these games are just fake and hammed up for the sake of the viewer, so I think of Slender and Amnesia and my brain thinks "Silly" instead of "Horror". But it could just be that I 'spoiled' the experience by watching footage - I didn't watch a lot for Lone Survivor and that game kinda freaked me out at a couple points.

  12. Way to rip off Terraria...

    I kid!

Actually Crea looks pretty awesome. What really appeals to me is being able to mod so you can change and add whatever. I loved Terraria but when me and my friend played it it was always "I wish _____ was in here..." or "I wish the character looked like ______". With Crea it looks like we'd totally be able to nerd out and stick our RP characters in it and have them be accurate.

  13. I guess I'll offer a different angle .. I've looked through all of the games listed here and the only one I've played is Star Ocean 3. And--unfortunately--I don't remember any of the music really .. It was a while ago and I even kind of remember thinking "this music isn't very memorable" (I think it was the battle music).

Based on what I've seen in this thread, I fully accept that this is more a testament to my bad memory rather than to his music .. Thus I conclude: I am bad. And I feel bad.

Or maybe Motoi just isn't for you. Nothing wrong with that.

  14. I've been wanting Ys: Oath in Felghana but I've been waiting... And now it's in the current Indie Bundle. The games there don't look bad but also don't interest me that much, except maybe Audiosurf. Still it's a good deal. But I have other games and.. nngh. I'm in the process of mulling it over and seeing if I can justify it. XD

  15. I was horrified to see the sale started today. Always such a temptation... XD

I am going to hold out and check each day for daily deals. If something I want is suuuuper cheap I'll probably pick it up. As is I already have quite a few games I need to finish... I am hoping to see Mass Effect as a Daily Deal though, would give me an excuse to at least try it out.

  16. I actually do agree on the $50 price point being a little bit high, for the record

Same here. But I can *sort of* see why they'd do it if they didn't anticipate such a big success. Perhaps the higher ups would have done some stuff differently if they knew how things would go, but as mentioned this is OCR's first Kickstarter. It wasn't done perfectly but I don't think there was any ill intent.

  17. You call that drama bait, I call that a reasonable question.

and ACTUALLY. thats my only real issue. Past hstories aside with VV AND Harmony of a Hunter, this is just impossible to explain as far as I can see.

For the record, I call the nonsense in bringing up VV, especially now, drama bait. Not whatever other concerns you're bringing up.

The prices were broken down for people to see. CD printing and shipping is pretty expensive. If you don't believe me or what has been posted, I can't really say anything to change your mind. I'm not sure if a higher up has interest into breaking it down further and giving links to the places they'll be doing the printing and shipping with which is probably the only way to placate certain people at this point, and even then I doubt it'd do any good. People just want to be angry at the success of the kickstarter.

And as far as I know OCR doesn't sell albums. There are people who participate here, who are not officially affiliated with OCR, who have sold albums. Like One Ups or whatever, but they get the necessary permissions to do so.
