  1. You guys do realize that they're not infringing only on the remixers, but on the composers for the OST? This situation isn't at all different from if the remixers themselves sold the songs.

What I'm saying is we should notify the OST composers as well. :whatevaa:

That's probably not a bad idea, especially since OST are on the site too. Uematsu's stuff, Jeremy Soule's stuff, Tommy Tallarico...

I doubt they have permission from Amanda Palmer to sell her stuff too.

And call me crazy but I have a hunch they don't have permission to sell most of the licensed music on their site... I somehow doubt Cee Lo is selling his music for 9 cents a pop.

  2. I think Larry's right. And I just found the Dungeons of Dredmor OST on the site too and I know that's on Bandcamp since that's where I bought the OST. *sigh* Geez...

I also saw various Final Fantasy albums and OSTs. ETA: And the OST for Skyrim and... yeah. I'm sure there's plenty of vg music on the site.

  3. I sent an email and poked around to see if I found anything else on their site.

These people are pretty terrible. :\ I feel inclined to tweet c418, virt, etc, to let them know their stuff is being sold on this site, but I'm not so sure my tweet would be seen so if anyone knows them more personally making them aware of this would be nice. ETA: Tweeting anyways, since it can't hurt.

  4. you can't typecast me foo!

Wasn't intending to typecast, just using it as an example. As a reverse techno or orchestra would possibly be out of place in a metal album project, depending on the direction the director is taking. It wouldn't be elitism there, it'd just be about using what fits.

Ever heard of Symphonic Death Metal ?

I think you're missing the point.

We know there's a FF6 project. We don't know anything beyond it - the whos and whys and the direction of the project. Could be Mongolian Throat Singing or opera for all we know. Point being it's silly to label it elitist without knowing *anything* about it.

  5. I am confused how people can complain about the FF6 project being elitist or snubbing them without actually knowing anything about the project other than the fact it exists.

With some OCR projects there's sort of a common theme for the sake of cohesiveness, rather than it being a bunch of different songs in outrageously different styles, because if it were, what was the point of making it into an *album*? For all one knows there could be a common theme in the FF6 project. Maybe it leans more towards melodic orchestra rather than death metal and screaming. In which case the latter would be inappropriate. In projects it's not always a matter of what's good vs. what's bad. It's just a matter of what fits.

  6. Honestly surprised Steam's third party gifts lasted as long as they did. It's a shame so many exploited the system and the HIBs, else more people doing the achievements legit would have won actual games, but c'est la vie.

My final haul is a bunch of coupons and a game I'm never going to touch. XD While it'd be nice to trade it for another cheap game I'd actually play I don't think I'm gonna get any takers on the Steam forum. So if you want any of this lemme know and I can trade it to you.

    Game: FlatOut

33% OFF Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

    25% OFF Valve

    50% OFF Valve

    50% OFF Demolition Inc.

    50% OFF Puzzle Agent 2

    50% OFF Left 4 Dead 2

50% OFF Assassin's Creed II Deluxe

    50% OFF Shadowgrounds Survivor

And for the sake of curiosity, did anyone do the SMB achievement? I knew when I saw the first level it just wasn't going to happen for me. I am baaad at that game and still not done with it yet. ><

  7. I've been sitting with three coal and a 33% off of Value games coupon for a while. Most of the games they've put up are ones I don't have, so this thing's not been overly productive item-wise for me

I've been lucky and had some games. And I've been doing the ones for free MMOs. Which is sort of nice, because me and my friend discovered we like Spiral Knights. But also bad because CC: Gang Wars is so bad it nearly reduced me to tears. Seriously. Awful. AWFUL.

And I crafted my coal. 50% off Left 4 Dead 2. Oh boy.

  8. I won more coal. Yay. >>;

Trying to see if anyone on the Steam forums will trade me coal for a cheap game since many are doing that sort of thing. No takers thus far though. I figure in a bit if no one bites I'll just exchange the coal and then rage about the crappy coupon that I'll inevitably get.

My friend got me Beat Hazard though, which is way fun! bLiNd's Golbez n' Goblins is AWESOME on there. I'll have to get the rest of my music indexed since most of my OCR stuff is in another music folder.
