Weird tune! This is like if Pink Floyd had FL Studio in the early seventies. Not a fan of the genre, but it sounds great technically. Well balanced, I think. edit: Some more sub-bass would be nice, IMO.

This tune is still in the mixing phase (haven't started mastering), but I'd like to know what more experienced musicians think of my mixing. http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Clarencio%20Mix.mp3 (The tune itself is maybe a bit dull, along with my arrangement) I have mixed primarily on a 5.1 set, but I also have some headphones. I think maybe the bass is a bit shy when listening on the headphones, but I'm not sure if it's just that I am used to pretty loud sub-bass with the subwoofer. Also, the kick feels very "light" on the headphones maybe. Those are my thoughts so far. Edit: Here is a quick master. Has a bit more 'air' and some compression. Subtle changes from the mix. http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Mordi%20-%20Clarencio.mp3

wip Orchestral Game Theme - Fun Adventures Await!
Mordi replied to Jared Hudson's topic in Post Your Original Music!
It's pretty awesome. Sounds really professional. What VSTs did you use for this? -
Cool. I agree that the ending is poorly done. I think fading out a track has a 'place' and time, but most of the time I hear fadeouts it makes me think "lack of imagination". Here is a version with some tweaks: http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/originals/Mordi%20-%20Trallala.mp3 Don't think I'll add anything more to it, really.

Would be nice with feedback on mastering and melody. A slightly funky, but mostly cheesy synth-tune. I'm having a hard time choosing good leads. I always go for pretty standard saw-leads. .mp3 Suggestions for a name?
-
Ah. Good job on that as well. I think the singing wasn't bad at all. In fact it was good, and I didn't notice any "robotification" in the voice (as a result from Melodyne). I've used that program too, and it can be tricky not to make it sound robot-like. At least in my experience.

Very nice tune! Simple and catchy, with quirky and funny lyrics. Music video is also great. I guess I don't have anything constructive feedback to add, really. Did you use any software to tweak your voice?

Very nice. I liked it. Never heard "Genie" before, but it was very catchy.

It starts as a Stickerbrush remix, and then it turns into something quite original. http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Mordi%20-%20Stickerbrush%20Symphony%20wip.mp3 Warning: Contains a lot of rubbery bass. Making it using Audjoo Helix only. I am making this mainly to practice composition and transitions between tunes. All the tunes are basically very "videogamey". I would also have liked feedback on this tune: http://remix.kwed.org/download.php/4281/Mordi%20-%20Shades%20%28in%20the%20rain%29.mp3 Even though it is finished, it has multiple tunes and shares some of the same ideas of merging them. It's a remix of the C64's classic tunes "Shades" and "Hysteria".

I recommend Audjoo Helix VST. http://www.audjoo.com/Helix/HelixAbout.html (149$) I use it almost exlusively. -
Actually, I was thinking how cool it would be to have the second lead be replaced a guitar, but I don't know anyone that would be able to. I will send you and mp3-file with the lead just by itself and maybe you can take a crack at it? Electric guitar would fit perfectly on that part, I think. I wonder if it would be a little too hard, though... Very rapid notes on that part. I'll send you a PM. Edit: It seems I can't send you a PM, so I'll post it here:

Sweet[wip4].mp3 What do you think? Edit: By the way, are there any lyricists on this forum? Maybe even a singer or two? Always wanted to do a song with vocals, but the internet is a scarce place when it comes to vocalists.
-
No, it's not from a game.
-
It used to be free, but it isn't anymore. It can be found in various dubious places on the internet though.

That happens when I sidechain the bass from the kick. It distorts it. Not sure how to fix that. I want the sidechaining there so the kick is as accentuated as it is now... Any tips? It's a VST (Audjoo Helix - great VST) where I took a basic saw and made an arpeggio that goes through 2 or 3 octaves (can't remember quite) and chorded it. Sounds very much like the C64 arps of ye olde times.

Ah. I thought it usually took around 3-4 days, actually. I thought I read that somewhere. Well, I remember submitting a song about one and a half year ago, and it got rejected and I got an e-mail stating so a few days later. It's a shame that size limit. It disables longer tunes like this.

Maybe the slightly tinny sound (not quite sure what you mean) is the cowbell? (I need my cowbell, you see ) I'm kind of new to mixing, so I'm not sure how to improve it (without just making it worse ). I think it sounds alright in my headphones though. They are unfortunately my only source of audio.

This is a remix of two commodore 64 games; Green Beret and Rambo. It's actually more of a remix of a remix that Jogeir Liljedahl made on the Amiga. I tried submitting it to OC with reduced quality, but at 128 kbps it still was around 500kb too much. I submitted it anyway, but haven't heard anything for 5-6 days, so I figured they denied it. This is the instrumental version. Liljedahl_is_god.mp3 My website

The_Alibi.mp3 Still a WIP. Things I'm not quite happy with: - Some of the lead bends - The part where it "takes off" (sounds iffy)
-
A very vangelis/jarre-ish tune that I composed. I havent done a lot of composing before. Mostly remixing. I like interesting/unusal chord-changes. I also like the 80's. Milky.mp3 Let me know what you think! This is a WIP after all.

Hehe, well. Liljedahl is God (originally Galway is God by Jogeir Liljedahl) is a really catchy tune, so. You might want to stay clear if you are a "whistler". =P

I don't play any instruments. All I have is a laptop.

jabond: The track is finished, so I dont wish to continue working on it. I used Z3ta+ for eveything except the pads (for those I used ReFx NeXus). Arranged in FL Studio. Vocals are from my library of random vocals (tweaked to fit the song using Melodyne).

...and some finished ones. Work in Progress: Wizball [Live at the Cafè] Commando Tears of my Heart Promises Finished: Liljedahl is God Agent X2 Any feedback is appreciated.
