  1. I had the chords for this lying around, so I made this as an entry to a compo. I guess it's too different from the source to be applied as an OCRemix. The time-signature is changed, even. http://soundcloud.com/mordi-1/mordi-the-butterfly Here's the original, in youtube form:
  2. Santa's Flute Made for a christmas-tune compo Santa's Flute wip Here is an alternate, extended version (with a lead from Lineage II's "Dion Theme") The Widow wip This one has really cheesy vocals, and it is also very short. I made the whole thing in a little over 4 hours though!
  3. A real synth-fest, this one. Girl N' Guy wip.mp3 I can think of many improvements to be made, but I am looking for general feedback. Original sid: Laxity - Girl_N_Guy.mp3
  4. I would say it's about mixing. It's just a question of definitions, though. You need to compare the instruments' frequency ranges. In addition to your ears, you can use a paragraphic equalizer to spot problematic frequencies. For example; if your pad has some activity in the lower frequencies, and you have a bass which operates around the same frequency, you'll want to use an equalizer on the pads to remove some of the volume where the bass should be. You make a "hole" in the pads for the bass to fit. If you are using FL Studio, you should already have a paragraphic equalizer installed.
  5. Oooh, very nice. Not familiar with the original, even though the sequel is one of my favorite games. Very nicely played! Added to my collection.
  6. Sounds pretty cool. Not bad mix-wise. One word of advice; don't name your band "The Oslo Massacre". It's quite tasteless, and even though I didn't lose any friends there, to anyone who did it would be very offensive!
  7. Lots of great feedback here. Indeed. In the past I've always had a lot of variations in my tunes, so nowadays I guess I am trying to keep it more subdued and "straightforward" with most of my tunes. Cool. This is great feedback! I see what you mean. I think I'm going to alter some of the leads and see if I can come up with something that fits the tune better. That tune is really nice. Not too dissimilar, although that one has more of a disco-vibe to it.
  8. Overall a pretty cool track. Really like what you did at around 2:05, changing up the chords. Edit: By the way, where did you get the vocal track from?
  9. I updated the track. It now has a sort of solo-ish part near the end, to break up the arrangement. Same link as in first post. Gario: I really like that instrument, though. I upped the filter modulation a bit and removed some of the mid-low frequencies to avoid it clashing too much with the rest of the track.
  10. Cool! I've had this breakbeat sample lyring around for ages, and I finally found a suitable tune for it. Thanks! I actually wrote a solo in the part where the girls are singing "aaaah", but I scrapped it as I think it was too much. I am considering adding a synth solo of some sort as an extension to the part at 2:14 to 2:33, though. Thoughts on that, anyone? Would be nice with some real instruments in there too, but I only play drums. So it'll probably continue to be a synth-fest.
  11. forest interlude wip.mp3 I'll probably change some of the leads in the future. General thoughts? Edit: "Forest Interlude" is a song from the Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtrack. YouTube link Edit2: Updated -> http://mordi.ziphoid.com/data/music/work_in_progress/Mordi%20-%20Forest%20Frolic.mp3
  12. Slight necrobump! I have finished the track. Not much change, removed the crackle at the start to avoid confusion, and changed some minor notes. [.mp3] I would have liked to redo it, though. The fake guitar could well do with switching for a real one.
  13. Great feedback, duders! Definitely. Drop me a PM! Well, I like to think I shook off those stamps sometime in 2009 or 2010, but yes, I have posted a lot of crap here since I started in 2007/2008. They are from http://www.soundsnap.com. It's a pay-site, but I created an account while they still had a "5 free sounds per month"-deal going on. They don't have that deal anymore, but I have tons of ambient sound effects in my library from there which I have accumulated over the years. SS is the highest quality soundeffect-site I've seen. Too bad it's so expensive!
  14. Stickerbrush wip.mp3 A very bare arrangement right now, as I'm not sure whether vocals would be cool, or if I should just go full synth as always. Maybe someone plays sax or some other instrument?
  15. Edit: Thanks, Liontamer. Got the mail. Didn't know that, sorry!
  16. No, it's not there. That's why I think it's been forgotten. I was sure I wrote this in my first post, but I must have accidentally deleted it.
  17. Hai, I think my remix was forgotten, even though a judge sent me an e-mail where it said it was accepted (it was accepted over a month ago). Who should I notify? I sent an e-mail to the mail I got the response from (subresponse@OCR.com). Will my mail reach someone, or will it forever be lost in the depths of an inbox somewhere?
  18. Excellent track. I wish the bass-drum had more punch. Being a fan of the Metallica and Megadeth styles of thrash I would have loved to hear it mastered/mixed by professionals, even though it is quite good as it is.
  19. Really cool track. Great vocals! Listening with my subwoofer I feel like there is too much subbass, though. Still a great track, of course.
  20. Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've made some improvements to it. Same link as before.
  21. Another one of Aquatic Ambience. .mp3 Was working on this and feeling good with it for a while, but now I'm not sure what to think of it. It has some original elements.
  22. I finished the track, and it has been released as part of "The Sound of SceneSat: Volume 2" - Link You can download all of the tracks there. Everything is solid stuff. Track info-page @ SceneSat If you register at the site it becomes downloadable, but they played it on a show and you can listen freely to it there (just press the little Java-icon on the track info-page).
  23. Here's my transcription: The vocals belong to a band called Shallow Sense, and their song called "It's a lie that time can heal".
  24. I've made a remix of the highscore tune from the game "Tiger Mission". It draws some inspiration from Drax's .xm version of the tune, which he made in 2001. Original tune: .mp3 Remix: .mp3 I was thinking that I'd submit it to OCR once it's done.
