  1. Lara Croft? What's she doing here?
  2. It's true, though. As a general rule, OCR TF2 regs are incredibly courteous. Several steps above most online gamers, at minimum. I also wonder if Telltale's episodic games count as sequels. Would one season count as one sequel, or would each individual episode? Cuz I can think of some examples that would fit this category...
  3. ...But Final Fantasy's pillar games (I, II, III, etc.) aren't sequels to each other. Only games that are specifically sequels (FFX-2, XIII-2) are. There's also a lot of spin-offs, which I'm not sure we count as sequels here.
  4. Sandman Extraordinaire!

  5. Yeah, that's a general property of DotA games, though it sounds as if this even eliminates the in-round level progression. You never gain any sort of power during a single round?
  6. Looks like a DotA-like game; if you've played League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Defense of the Ancients itself, or any similar games, can you give any differences or improvements on the formula? As it is, it looks fairly cookie-cutter (except perhaps bypassing the 'elite' player baseline).
  7. Steam clocks me in at just over 400 hours. I think I've only had two hat drops during that time. I guess hats just don't drop at the drop of a hat.
  8. There's more than one contributor to the problem. I'd actually bet, though, that in the case of an actual emergency, any critical repairs (such as making roadways viable) would occur rapidly; it would be the beautification and non-critical systems that would take a very long time to set back in place. I'm kind of curious, now, what happened after the '94 Cali. quake. Nowhere near as bad as this one, but I do remember there was a large amount of damage done; it'd be interesting to see comparisons.
  9. Because we have UNIONS, and those are soo much more efficient than your Japanese road-crews... right? That's great that they've managed to prevent it from melting down! Hopefully the repercussions will be minimal; Japan has enough on its plate without radiation issues.
  10. And it's not just the lyrics; the whole meter of the song was off, too. Face it, folks. We're being trolled by modern 'Wee-Sing' for teenagers.
  11. New pop is sensitive to such familiar topics as ADD and learning disabilities. This simple, touching song follows the day of a girl suffering from both of these maladies as she attempts to learn the days of the week. Why can't we all just congratulate her on overcoming these obstacles?
  12. There's only a certain level of failure you can account for in a system. You can only ask (and resolve) "What if that fails?..." so many times. Unfortunately, there's just not all that much you can do about tsunamis. Even waterproofing generators wouldn't stop any other debris is being swept along by the tsunami from smashing them up pretty bad, not to mention the risk of leaks or poor maintenance.
  13. I'm just drawing a comparison between the two. I haven't yet played DA:O (have it, just haven't gotten around to it yet), so I don't know if the same issue holds in the first or not. It's just a parallel issue BioWare has seen before.
  14. So... you're saying this has the same issue they had in Mass Effect, and fixed in Mass Effect 2? That's a big step backwards.
  15. Better save up that platinum and upgrade your medical bay. ...Oh, wait.
  16. Different, maybe, but it's actually a good idea. Those who don't have the space to hold the higher detail can opt out without having to download the whole package. Though it is odd that they didn't just put it on a separate disc for physical copies... or did they, and I'm just clueless?
  17. Played and enjoyed already. It helps that I'm a computer engineer, my brain's already half-wired for the computational side of things. These are all variations on finite-state machines, with spatial and topographical limitations there to make it a challenge. Does the game have special 'achievements' or the equivalent for efficient solutions (minimal time / complexity)? That would take the cake for me, since it helps push for better solutions.
  18. I thought I recognized the style of play: These are the same guys who made The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, among others. Given how intrigued I was by their other games, I might give this a spin. Thanks for the head's up, I wouldn't have checked this one out otherwise!
  19. It sounds amazing; the only thing that I keep feeling needs to be pushed is right after your center vocals. If possible, make that next section bigger somehow. It adds strength to the vocals when you can break out of them with power. At least, that's how I hear it. Can't wait to see it finished and on the front page!
  20. Even simpler would be to place it at round setup (although koth maps would get a bit of pain that way). EDIT: ...derp. That's what you just said. >_<
  21. Just because the Wii's controls are different doesn't make the game itself more or less difficult by a whole order or magnitude. Honestly, some people are just better than others at solving the kind of puzzles Zelda throws at you. To those who it's a challenge for, and who still push through anyway, congrats! I bet you can enjoy the game in a completely different way than many of u s, and I bet you feel more satisfied and accomplished than we would at beating each dungeon.
  22. C'mon, no MUDs? Other than that, still slightly curious about Rift. Problem is, I don't have that much time to invest in an MMO, given all the project courses I'm taking. There's also the matter of subscription feeees. Maybe I'll pick up a couple months sometime and piddle around, perhaps over Summer.
  23. Ooof. Sorry to break it to you, Tim, but this isn't sounding so hot. A lot of the problem is coming from the guitar. For the most part, the orchestral section seems fairly tight. But that synth guitar sounds like you pulled some baaad FL Slayer presets. It plays one tone at one volume: no dynamics at all, which is a terrible thing for a lead. It's hurting the song quite a bit. The other major problem lies in the arrangement. Most of this song is simply a medley; 'You're Not Alone' clips in once in awhile between the battle theme, and once at the end, but other than that, each section sounds exactly like the source with minorly pumped-up drums (which sound good too, by the way) and that guitar synth. Basically, it sounds like a slightly-modified MIDI rip, which is generally not going to be accepted by the judges. You can definitely produce and master your tracks; just try to work on finding guitar that isn't so grating, and being more creative. Right now, this is more of a cover than an arrangement: try to reinterpret the songs, find a way to blend them together so that the ReMix is greater than the sum of its parts.
  24. Why do I get the distinct feeling that I'm being trolled...
