  1. Thanks, but those 18 were done back when I weighed about 160. Could probably only manage about ten right now, but then that's the tradeoff for bulk. (When you are 6'3 and 140 as a junior in high school, you pray for bulk.)

I do supersets fairly regularly, especially with biceps and triceps. I try to do it with shoulders and chest but that is my absolute worst area in terms of keeping form and sticking through the pain (especially on chest exercises). I enjoy it on bi's and tri's though.

Another problem is my lack of equipment for leg exercises. Any ideas on what I can do with free weights? (besides squats and lunges.)

  2. As for your plateau, it sounds like you need to mix up your workout a bit, though I guess I don't know your genetic max potential. What is your current program?

I follow a modified P90-X that relies on most of the same exercises, though tuned for mass rather than tone. I always stick to the 8-10 rep range and I use free-weights rather than body weight whenever possible (i.e. instead of dips I do tricep extensions.) Admittedly, the workout is getting stale even though I mix it up at least every month.

P90-X2 hits real soon, so hopefully it will bring some new methods. Any thoughts are more than welcome though.

Congrats on your progress; my best ever on pull-ups was 18 :x, so you've got me beat. As for pushups...my wingspan definitely kills me on there.

  3. Remember reading this thread a while back...how did you end up doing with your goals, OA?

I've been in a holding pattern for about six months after two years of dedicated training (I'm 6'3 and was 150 pounds, now I'm holding steady at about 190.)

I have hit a hard plateau and can't seem to gain any more muscle. Ideally I'd like to be around 210 (big enough to look good but to where I can still scratch my own back.) I'd be really interested in any thoughts or advice from anyone who can help.

Already getting about 150 grams of protein a day, eating about five meals, working out 3-4 days a week, etc.

  4. Yeah I really don't see the point in posting a thread like this. Sure, everyone will have a good laugh at PETA being crazy again, but it's not like anyone here will seriously go "Well, you know, they might have a point...", so there's little to discuss.

I honestly didn't expect a discussion, and I'm a bit surprised by the amount that has gone on. Laughter was the only intended consequence. If PETA (as nuts as they are) going after one of the biggest video game legends doesn't bring a momentary spark of humor to your day...

  5. It's a hate bred from disappointment. The prospect of a Mega Man book series is amazing, but that closely followed by the realization that the idea has a 99% chance of never coming to fruition is painful.

I have no doubt these guys have a great idea or two on their hands, but to make such a premature announcement on a site composed of game zealots is dangerous at best.

Not sure how to feel about this. I'm REALLY disappointed that Level-5 won't have a hand in it, but so far everything else sounds okay, provided they don't take too many mechanics from IX.

Some sites are calling it an MMO, but from what I've read you can choose to play the game just like IX, by recruiting a few PC controlled characters to aid you, or you can recruit people online. Square Enix has said there will be a (monthly?) fee for online play. So yeah, lots of ups and downs on this announcement.

I am however greatly relieved to hear it won't be restricted to the Wii U; there will be versions for both consoles. Now if they'll just announce some kind of DS compatibility that allows you to transfer stuff from IX...

Edit: Okay, scratch the notion that you don't HAVE to play online. http://wii.ign.com/articles/119/1192635p1.html

I'll try to hold back judgment until we see an actual figure for this fee. Try.

  7. Wow, excellent mixture of several different themes. I think this would be nearly ready to go as is if the melodies had a bit more interpretation. Though they mesh extremely well and have strong instrumentation, you haven't done much to change the original notes (at least not to my ear.)

Re-imagine the notes a bit and maybe add a counter-melody or two (in places where you're not already using a second theme) and this would be brilliant.

  8. .....................

I was seriously about to post for this in the request forum. Just finished my first playthrough.

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already, but I would like to reiterate the need for a more dynamic acoustic side. The electric is perfect.

You said you had scrapped the rhythm guitars because they weren't matching up, but due to how much they could strengthen the mix, perhaps you might consider uploading a version with them so listeners can help with suggestions and observations.

Anyways, already on my playlist. :-)

  9. Hello to my new favorite WIP.

Dude, this is awesome. Killer even. The slowdown makes this absolutely haunting, and I understand what you mean by not trying for an acousting guitar sound. During the first few seconds I didn't, but it clicked after that and I think it sounds very good.

The only two issues I have:

    1) The choice of using a sax as lead. I by no means think it sounds bad; I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. With this type of mix and emotion however, a violin seems the better choice to me. Purely a style thing, and you may be using the sax just to avoid that style, but whatevs. I think a violin would rule so hard, especially considering the transition you later make to rock. The violin could back up the electric guitar and add some serious oomph. Which brings me to my other issue...

    2) I LOVE the rock portion. But the segue to it bothers me; it's too sudden. If around that 2:25ish mark you could add another short section and allow the lead guitar to bubble up from underneath before it comes charging out, it would feel more like a transition of emotion rather than two good ideas that were sewn together for the sake of having a single song.

Just my opinions, and I'll gladly admit I'll be burning this onto a CD for my vehicle regardless of if you make these changes. Great work!
