  1. The sequencer in 4 is a little awkward. I have been using it for 2 weeks and still have a lit of issues, such as quantizer now quantizing properly. I hate have to double click within and grouped section in order to add new notes. Maybe, one day all these problems will become a thing of the past. Reason almost has every thing I need to compose. I have an amazing orchestral library that sounds good, but not great. I am sure most of you know about the Miroslav reason refill. Don't get me wrong, you can get great results with Miroslav, but it does not come near the quality of the East/West orchestral sounds. I do wish Reason would allow virtual instrument plugins. Then, it could do it all as a stand alone, and not re-wired. Other than that, Reason is by far my favorite program to compose in. For everything else, I leave it to Pro-Tools.
  2. I believe you are right on this. You might need some adaptors.
  3. I do not see any 1/4 inch outs in the diagram. Is it a newer model card? I notice it does have multiple rca outs on the analog end. Does it have the outs muted or unselected in your audio preferences? I know these are pretty common problems, but I thought I would try anyway. have you tried connecting your headphones just to the left channel just to check if you are getting a mono signal?
  4. Good tip!!!! You can also direct your reverb. You can have your dry instrument play from one side, but it's reverb will shoot out to the other side only by the way you wire it in the back. It sounds wicked cool in dance music! Reverb can also sound good in a small dose on the entire mix. It might be the exact thing needed to gel your mix together, but it might also kill it.
  5. did you install card drivers first?? if so, are they the latest m-audio delta drivers? do you use a mac or pc? if mac what processor and operating system? if pc, vista ,xp? have you tried checking for audio within each program and outside of the programs?
  6. If you are really serious about this, pick up a keyboard. I would go with at least semi-weighted keys. Steer clear from synth action. Most of the budget line synth-action midi keyboard keys stick from my past experience. If you really like the feel of a real piano, go with hammer action, but it will cost you. I personally get by with a M-Audio Keystation 61es (semi-weighted). I plan on getting a Keystation Pro 88 next time.
  7. the way I started learning programs like FL Studio is by taking the demo songs and rewriting the notes in the piano roll. Familiarize yourself with the sequencer to the right. Try pasting patterns in a new order within the demo tracks. Monkey See Monkey Do:shock: I will admit that FL Studio is the easiest to pickup an learn. One day, using this program will open up like a revelation and all will make sense to you. Do not give up. Another way to get started....check out the user tutorials on You Tube.
