Diablo 2 1.13 Patch possibly as soon as next week! Join us!
M W replied to Tensei's topic in General Discussion
I first played this game when I was 11 on my uncle's account, where his friends grew strangely curious as to why he was doing Kirby impressions. Then he died of a drug overdose, and I haven't been on since. I always loved smashing people with Mort's leg just to annoy them. I also grew very caring about the mercenaries I hired; making sure they had super cool equipment and everything. When I got a copy of the game for myself, I was sad because resurrecting them was only in the Expansion Pack. Never got it online though. Those were in the dailup days. -

I think the one I had up there could stand some critique as well; it did come in last, after all. If anyone has a moment before the next competition starts, by all means. -

Social Networking: Something Wicked This Way Comes?
M W replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
I knew social networking was a bad thing from the start of this whole Myspace mess, though I had it in there for vastly different reasons. I first came from an Internet generation where you couldn't do anything without knowledge of HTML. If you wanted an online presence, you needed to host your own website and go from there. Back then, the 'net was very interesting because only people with the knowledge to do so could create content. What content was there, was bound to be good. After all, the webmaster there would have had to exert a lot of effort just to update a page. With this, there was a good sense of identity to things as well. "Oh! That's [person]'s website. Cool place." "Oh! That's [other guy]'s website! He's not very interesting, but yeah." "Oh! That's [...]'s website! The damned bloke should update more!" Then came the many innovations out there that made the 'net more accessible to the ignorant people. This was good at first, but the ramifications on 'net culture became more visible with time. One was the loss of identity. People where then classified as a number on a grand MySQL database and not by the content they create or by the presence they exert. All that was left to do was drama, drama, drama. Call me old-fashioned, but I simply didn't like this at all. -
... I didn't think there would be so much indecision about this topic. I mean, is anyone else surprised by how most of the internet has such varying opinions on this? When it comes to piracy and bittorrenting, it's one of those things you assume everyone would have the same opinion on.

Hrm... With only three stories, voting will be pretty decisive. ... At least for me, anyway. That's one of mine up there. -
Zelda: Oracle of Ages 'Essence of Lime' [See community board]
M W replied to Lemonectric's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Lemony. I hereby wish to offer my skill outside of music for this project. I've been using HTML and CSS for close to nine years now. I can go through five tables of raw code in minutes. That unofficial site is using what looks like a normal GooglePages template, or something otherwise limited. I'd like to be web designer for the project website. ... and maybe I'll be able to throw a mix in, if I'm daring enough. But...! Web Design I can certainly do. -

Lemony, I think what you're doing is great. The Legend of Zelda Oracle games are some of the most quintessential 2D Zelda games there are. I wish there was a way I could contribute to this project. -

I'm proud to report that I'm finished. I cannot provide a draft here, since it obviously exceeds the character allotment per post. Please go to http://project.revasser.net/journal/?p=27 to read it. -
In the movie theatre, you could obviously tell who hadn’t read the book. There was obviously a lot of giggling in the back row coming from those 15 year olds who only snuk into an 18A movie. Those guys know how to put a hamper on things. To their credit though, that sex scene was really drawn out.

Before he releases it, it's a gift to him. After he releases it, it's an established remix. To be honest, I'm not sure if OCR would even want it to begin with. I'm only looking for what can make it better.

A friend of mine is working on a freeware game. Being not completely in the process, I thought I would make him a nice gift to help motivate the progress along. So, I managed to commandeer some of the current tunage by pretending like I knew more than him about FL Studio. It worked. Source: http://other.revasser.net/files/dd-dungeon1.mp3 Silver Mountain (Inside Cave) Remix Draft 1.1: http://other.revasser.net/files/ddremixfin.mp3 Silver Mountain [Modulation Remix] This is my first remix. I have no musical background and limited means, however I also wish to see my name of the OCR "Latest Releases" list sometime within this lifetime, so I ask you please be as harsh as constructively possible (It'll be good for the final product given to my friend as well).

Not to advertise, but if that's the truth, you'd be happy to be informed of where it was excerpted from. Novelettes are so prejudiced against. It's either short stories or novellas. Seldom anything inbetween. -

I was hoping I could do a bit better this round, but I guess I didn't exactly... fit in? Science fiction was a dominant force. -

I don't think it's that. I've read some pretty interest theory on fantasy/scifi. One of the things pitched was that most writers of genre fiction tend to magnetically attract eachother for some strange reason. ... in the case of diehard scifi, there are probably actual magnets involved. -

Huh. There's a lot of Science Fiction this round. I feel almost a little... nonconformist, writing without speculation. -
I guess part of me doesn't like trance as much as it should. I'm really the sort of person who is only into the melodic stuff, and while I noticed the backbeats from the source in there, I couldn't find any of the main melody at all. Then again, there's also that other part of me who wants to worship this remix as a gift from God, just on the merit of it being a MOTHER3 mix.

I picked up a copy of Watchmen on New Year's Eve, and in all honesty I could not put the book down. I started reading it at nine, and it had me through New Year's up until 6 AM when I finally finished it. It's a great copy of it too; a lovely Hardcover with absolutely nothing cut from the original. I'm not sure how to interpret the new ending; it's essentially formulating a whole new plan on the part of the story's antagonist, and given how much of an anti-villain he was to start off with, we might even see that much outright change (which is a strict no-no, in my opinion). I've also read V for Vendetta by Alan Moore too. I read it first and saw the movie recently too. The only thing the movie holds over the book is being easier to follow after the Vicious Caribet arc. Other than that, the respect for the source material was... hollow at best. Then again, if it was an issue of pure adaptation, I would allow for singular changes made, provided that the overall thematic material remains the same. Of course, I won't know until I see it. From what is there of the movie now, I can't find anything seemingly wrong with it. It all seems exactly as it was in the book.

This sounds absolutely wonderful. It's so wonderful, I have nothing to contribute and hardly anything to say. I could listen to this all day. -
phijayy - Day of Despair (Sonic Advance 3/Chaos Angel Remix)
M W replied to PhiJayy's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
There's definitely nothing wrong with the source tune; I regard it as one of the best in the Sonic series (which is nice considering how all-over-the-place the Sonic soundtracks can get). It's a lovely techno arrangement with just the right amount of chip to it. However, I think your instruments are a bit on the harsh side. I don't know if that comes with the genre, or if it's only my sound system. Most of the piano parts feel that way to me. On top of that, the parts of the song that have a clam moment to them are a bit turned down by an unusual increase in the drum beat (a little after the 0:40 area before it picks back up is a good example). It might just be my opinion, but a little softening will make this already good song even more pleasant on the ears. -
I'll be very happy once this remix gets in. It will be a darn shame if it doesn't since the final version sounds so wonderful. In the very least, it's certainly overclocked.
