  1. Greetings, ReMixer Name: Mr. Yasensky Website: http://plaza.ufl.edu/wuli32 Game ReMixed: Kirby's Dreamland Nylon-string guitar. Regards, -- Yasensky,David C
  2. I would like to submit the following song: email: craig@eigenhat.com All the current remixes can be found at: All songs available are part of my remix project of the original Marathon One (Bungie, 1994) in-game soundtrack. I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for taking the time to listen to one or all of them. Sincerely, Craig Hardgrove
  3. For the record I think I concur with all opinions other than Ari's. I might actually agree with what he's *trying* to say, but the way he's saying it still sounds to me like a blanket attack on the usage of drumloops and an underestimation of some of the retriggering done here, which is at least SOMETHING. I suppose my point is, when there are at least several things you could point out as being problematic with a mix, why weaken your case by overstating one of them to such an extreme that it sounds like you're almost not even paying attention? From my perspective, that's bad feedback.
  4. Are the revisions arrangement-centric or related to mastering and more importantly finding better samples, out of curiosity? From an arrangement perspective this seems pretty slick, but it falls into GM territory on the soundset...
  5. This is my first submission, and I am a total amature at this kind of thing. I hope it's good enough. ) Contact Information Remixer Name: Inanis Real Name: Joe Strosnider Email Address: inanis@ecr.net Website: www.inanis.net UserID: 19326 (I assume this is correct. I stripped it from the activation e-mail's activation link because I could not find anywhere on the site that would give me my UserID) ReMix Information Name Of Game: MegaMan III Name Of Song: Magnet Man's Theme Addtl info on game: Already on the site . . . Link to original soundtrack: On the site already . . Comments on the remix: I have always loved the Magnet Man theme from this game. I decided on a whim to play around with some software and make a remix of it, just for my own amusement. The remix turned out better than I thought it would, so I decided to submit it. The remix was made using ModPlug Tracker and Cool Edit Pro. I tracked the song with ModPlug using some standard drum and synth samples, and created a few samples of my own using Cool Edit. Nothing fancy. The song has a kinda late 80's/early 90's dance feel to it.
  6. Mmmm, different enough that I think we should evaluate as an addition, not a replacement. - djp title: Terranigma Blue (Shooting Star Mix) OC ReMix artist: Ziwtra year: 2004 game: Terranigma original: Evergreen --- Not sure what you want to do with this one... the story is that I got my hands on some non-free tracking software called renoise (best $45 i've ever spent!). To learn effects, mixing, etc. I decided to remaster my first remix Blue since I was never happy with that one. But instead of just mixing it cleaner I ended up starting over and going in a different direction with it. So I'll leave it up to you whether this should replace the old mix or whether it's a different one altogether--either way is fine by me. About the song... My first remix of this tune went for a "rainforest" atmosphere you might say (not very original either... calliope, conga, rain and bird sound fx) while in this one I wanted to get a synth sound that reminded me of stars... Hopefully later in the song you'll hear the "shooting stars" that I was going for. I also went for a more downtempo chilled feel. By the way... love the new site, truly excellent work. Hopefully I'll be sending you some more mixes this summer before I return to school and work my ass off. : ) yh
  7. I... somewhat suspect this might be original w/drumloops on top. can anyone verify? - djp Hi, people! (OcRemix) ReMixer name: Alataby Name of ReMix: Bright Covenant Email: ahmed_alataby85@hotmail.com Name of game ReMixed: Warcraft III The Frozen Throne (Windows PC) Comments about the mix: About the game: Hmm, to say the truth, I actually never played the game, but I did play Reign of Chaos for a while but didn’t beat it. But the reason why I made this ReMix is because the music. I really listened to the music a lot because it was just great and that’s why I decided to make this ReMix. About the ReMix: Well, what shall say about my ‘first’ mix, hehe. First of all I would like to say that I used quite a few instruments of the original song (Dark Covenant) and that’s because I like the original a lot, that’s why I kept these instruments and mixed them with the beat, harp and some other instruments. The original is also longer than 4 minutes, so I had to cut few parts. I also changed the speed to 1.5x. If you played Warcraft III, liked the music, like beat a bit, then I’m sure you’ll like this one. Enjoy! Download: + : Please, if you decided not to put my mix on you page for any reason, it really would be appreciated a lot if you inform me. Thanks a lot, guys! (OcRemix)
  8. Like the concept, DOES sound like prom music. Not that I'd know. - djp I've been around OCR for a while now, but this is my first submission as a remixer. My remixer name is "Flik", current e-mail is "sputnik1@brainerd.net" (soon to change), and my website is www.vagstudios.com (still developing). I had never intended on making a remix, but while working on an original I somehow started playing the melody to Kakariko Village. I have not played Zelda 3 in a very very long time, but I was somehow able to recall the whole tune from memory. I thought it would be fun to make a remix, so I did. I know on a technical aspect there could be some minor improvements, but it ended up sounding good to me the way it was. I used Reason to make and master all the music. The audio drama stuff was also fun to make. Hope you can enjoy it. -Chris
  9. Hi, my name is Bryan and this is my first submission to OC Remix. First off, I'd like to say it has been my goal to have a remix on OC for about 6 years. A long time ago, back when the site was Orange, I submitted a (terrible) mix. I've been working on my original music and remixes since then, trying to get them up to par with OC's. I submit frequently to vgmix, and have acquired a growing reputation there. This mix is my third submission to vgmix, but I have improved it slightly, mostly the encoding quality and some audio glitches. I would like to use my vgmix name at OC, which is Corran, and also please use this email address, IPlayFlute1985@hotmail.com. This mix is an orchestral version of the Valkyrie Profile song, "Epic Poem to a Sacred Death". I think it is OC quality, but I will of course leave it to the judges to decide. I apologize in advance for any error in the ID3v2 tags...it was very hard to find a program that would modify them the way you guys asked, and I think I got everything. Thanks for your patience. The file is displayed there. It's the only file in the directory. You can, of course, right-click and save. Thank you very much for allowing me to -attempt- to get a remix on your highly-esteemed site. Corran

  11. Very fun arrangement. Samples not so fun. - djp Hey, This is a remix of the Black Omen track from CT I call "Woman in a Black Dress". I wrote it for the PRC#19 and Mythril Nazgul said we should all submit our entries, so here it is. I use an old school MIDI program called MIDI orchestrator, so it's a wonder I can keep up with all these kiddies and their high-falutin digital wonders. I'm Bladiator, aka Karl Harmdierks. 12. "Drumloops should never exist throughout the whole song on a loop" - REGARDLESS of whether it's the sole reason you're rejecting this mix or not, you're making statements that indicate you'd reject any mix that features loops heavily or throughout a song, and that's not acceptable. Larger issue. I agree that mixes truly carried by drumloops - repeating, unchanged drumloops - are not fine. However, a mix can have the same damn drumloop for its entirety and still not be carried by it.
  13. I'm trying to distinguish between what sound like criticisms of the submission as a ReMix, and what sound like criticisms of a genre. There's multiple sub-genres of electronica that do heavily emphasize breakbeats, usually not the artists' own, which are measured by how many ways a single loop can be mucked with (i.e. retriggered, etc.) I think the mix has other problems, but even some of those are more emblematic of the genre, like the extreme volume levels. I'm trying to get a feel for judges' familiarity with and/or respect of these genres, because if we need to tell people not to submit mixes in them, I think that's an unfortunate and undesired direction to go in, but if we say it's okay and then turn around and criticize their submissions primarily on grounds that are endemic of the same genre we said it was cool to submit in, we (rightly) seem like bastards. I know some of us wear that badge proudly at times, but the site at large should try to avoid it. I think this mix has problems with variation, and that the volume sometimes goes overboard into distortion that's not pleasant, but to me some of the other comments being thrown its way just sound like misunderstanding or lack of appreciation for the style. This is clearly an ongoing issue.
  14. I disagree strongly with the votes thus far and am keeping this open. Even if every last judge votes no I may still post it or contact the mixer in question myself for a revised version. I think it compares favorably to recent mixes approved by the panel by panelists or friends of panelists. I don't trust Binnie to make assertions about what are right or wrong notes or 'notation' issues, and I think the term 'cover' is being thrown around far too readily recently. It's one thing to wield a vocabulary of musical terms and another thing to be a little more intimate with the guts of what the words mean. I'm not saying this is the best thing since sliced bread, but the rationale seems fairly bogus and I have a hard time letting this slip by when I feel like we've approved comparable mixes recently that happened to be from more familiar faces.
  15. Got another submission for you to look at. Contact info: ReMixer name: Darangen Real name: Michael Boyd Email address: Darangen@hotmail.com ReMix info: Name of game ReMixed: Chrono Trigger Name of songs ReMixed: Magus' Theme / Ocean Palace Composer: Yasunori Mitsuda Comments: I've always been fascinated by Magus' theme. But it wasn't until recently that I figured out that the Ocean Palace theme and Magus' theme blend together really well at parts. I was just playing CT while listening the the OST, I was in the ocean palace and the ost was playing Magus' theme, it was then that I realized what a good ReMix this could make. Since Magus was disguising himself as the Prophet to Zeal and the Ocean Palace later rises to the sky renamed as the Black Omen, I figured "Omen of the Prophet" would make a suitable name. --------- Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy this ReMix and choose to make it a release here at OC ReMix - Michael 'Darangen' Boyd
  16. For the subtlety fans... - djp ReMix URL Contact Info ReMixer name: Ron-kyo Real name: Alex Ronquillo Email address: kitler1213@teamfishgut.com ReMix Info Name of game(s) ReMixed: Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, Revenge of Shinobi Name of individual song(s) ReMixed: The Legend of Max, Ninja Step Link to the original soundtrack if it is not one of the sound archives already available on the site: Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc.: >>Blind Conformity started out when I had tuned my guitar to dropped-D, then lowered all the strings by one half step. I was in a real Sepultura mood when I was just screwing around, but I wanted to make another videogame cover. . .so I played some notes and I recognized it as the intro to "The Legend of Max" and went from there. The song itself led to the intro/verse and pre-chorus riffs, the latter following the first three chords played then followed with a variant of the original song. The biggest thing was adding the chorus, so I asked a bud what game he wanted to hear me try and cover song-wise, and he said 'Revenge of Shinobi'. So I downloaded the soundchip for it and then I heard Ninja Step. I was OMFG! During the track, there's a really interesting rhythm that worked perfectly on the guitar when added some dissonance and adjusted chords played. Eerily, my friend knew exactly what song I'd pick. . .So anyhow, it worked and I just put it all together. The lyrics themselves is a cry against those who choose to follow what they will blindly and then condemn others for not doing so as well. I couldn't honestly think of a videogame they fit, but then I thought...why not link that to Bible Adventures?
  17. Hey! This is an orchestral remix of the song from some snow levels from the N64 game Space Station Silicon Valley. 20. Hi, this is my first time submitting to OCR, please inform me if anything is missing or not in the right format. Thank you! link to the file: Contact Info ReMixer name: Taoao real name: Tao Yang email address: tadyang@yahoo.com ReMix Info Name of game(s) ReMixed: Final Fantasy 9 Name of individual song(s) ReMixed: Where Love Doesn't Reach Additional information: Piano Version Remix Comments: It's my first attempt outside of my small circle of friends and the 2nd remixing ever done. 21. Hey, this is DDRKirby(ISQ), with my first submission to overclocked. (I'm not gonna count that piece of sh*t FFCC remix...I gave you a broken link anyways....sorry about that.) It's a Techno-style remix of Spark Man's stage music from Mega Man 3. I did have a tiny bit of difficulty editing the ID3v2 tags, but I think all the info should be there. Anyways, here's the url: And if that one doesn't work (the Save Target As thing might help), here's an alternate link: And now onto my user info: My handle is DDRKirby(ISQ), if that's not totally obvious... and my e-mail is iosquad2@hotmail.com, if you need to contact me. If that doesn't work, you can try AIM (screen name: DDRKirbyISQ) I am registered on your forums(name: DDRKirby(ISQ) )...but I have no clue what my id # is. =p Again, this is a remix of Spark Man from Mega Man 3. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially with the harmony near the end. I was actually using ModPlug Tracker before, but then I realized that it wasn't actually all that good. (bad soundfont support, and the vst(i) and dx(i) support isn't really there either) So about a month ago, I uh..."acquired" a copy of Fruity Loops, and DAAMN is this thing powerful. I'll let the results speak for themselves. Enjoy the mix, and as always, feel free to praise/comment/bash/flame me for my work. _________________________________________________________________ Planning a family vacation?
