  1. DJ Pretzel,

DJ Night Force 9: According to my Javamusic hits counter, you have listended both of my submitted remixes.

    HOWEVER:

As I recently realized, Mario's Aqua music box had a couple of mistakes:

    1. The melody lead was a KILLER (ie too loud) on the ears and so its volume was significantly lowered.

    2. Some of the notes from the bass did not match the rest of the music so that's been fixed.

Please listen/download (to) this song again.

In case you lost the site, it is:

    Thank you!

Note that you have to register with javamusic.com . . .

  2. For the roughly third time, and finally with the appropriate ID3 tag, I would

like to submit Hair's Breadth from the Eye, a MMX Storm Eagle remix to be

    found at . Yes, there

are other things there, some of which will also be submitted, others which

have been submitted before with no feedback, but for right now, focus on

    Hair's Breadth.

please begin your post with a big "Yes" or "No" while we endure the poll issue - thanks.

  3. I'm gonna add something to the submissions guidelines. While popular movie themes are often used in games, it simply wouldn't be kosher for OCR to become home to zillions of star wars remixes and what not. Any theme that is known more outside of a game than in it is highly questionable. Let's not ban this outright, as there may be some very special exceptions, but it should be strongly discouraged. A bummer, perhaps, but there are others sites for remixes of movie themes, esp. star wars, and OCR has to have at least a little form and focus.

    Opinions? All in favor? Against?

  4. I wouldn't call this guitar work "well done." It's pretty raw, actually.

Focus that sound so it's not so hissy. Then bring it up in the mix. Chorus and compress the bass so it doesn't take up so much of the spectrum.

I didn't "agree" with the arrangement, really, but I've never really liked any of the songs I've heard from this series of games.

    Ah well.

Interesting - see, I would counterpoint that guitar work can be both "well done" and sound "raw" at the same time. I don't think everything in the world needs to sound overproduced and slick, and that's what I like about many mixes that make it through that have elements like this singled out.

A dead-on, perfectly articulated guitar that was more in keeping with Van Halen or something like that would have been inappropriate, to me - this mix is raucous, and the guitar should reflect that attitude. That's actually what I liked most about the mix, on repeated listening.

As a sidenote, compressing the bass should make it take up less of the spectrum, but chorusing would do the exact opposite - make the sound fatter and louder and more dominant. That's sort of paradoxical advice, though I agree a smudge of compression alone would have helped.

  5. Thanks for actually getting back to me on what's happening with the submission. If you don't like it (which is understandable, piano arrangements are hit-or-miss), and I'm actually at a point that's near posting right now, would you mind "substituting" this song for my submission:

It's an orchestral/ambient arrangement of the Prologue music from the game The Longest Journey, a PC adventure game from Europe. Incredible soundtrack, freely available from the website. The arrangement is done entirely with a piano, a cello, and a choir.

Please give me a PM back if you receive this, I'd just like to make sure that we're getting communication happening here.

    Thanks a lot.

I substituted as deim0s requested. I like this piece much better, too. Going to delete the coin song post . . .

  6. Hey Pretzel and OC Judges,

    I don't know if you remember from my ahem..Roger Rabbit remix(which I

abandoned) well I've got a new one. I'm sure its better than the Roger

Rabbit one...Lets just forget it ever happened.

Well here is the Info on the Song :

    Game : Final Fantasy 5

    Original Composer : Nobuo Uematsu

    Remixer : Gman

Well that's all hope you like the mix. And if You/the judges don't recognize

the song from anywhere in the game, the title of the song is nostalgia.

    Thanks

    Gman

  7. Hi there!

I've recently come across your web site and really like it!

I'd like to submit a remix that I did some years ago. It was created using samples from the Tie Fighter PC game (I hope I don't mess this up with X Wing, but I think those samples were from Tie Fighter).

Title: Tie Fighter Das Imperium OC Remix

    Artist: Master Mitch

    Year: 1997

You can also add my homepage URL. Which one should I take?

    Thanks for listening!

  8. I'm surprised that overclocked doesn't already have

this song in one form or another. This is a remix of

the classic bomberman battle music theme that we all

know and love. This is my first submission and music

creation isn't exactly my thing so please take it easy

    on me =(

  9. Done this before with your other email address and haven't seen anything up.

    I hope that's the backlog >_<

    Anyways... here it is.

The song is called Aphrodite Oceanus

It's a remake of Secret of Mana

My name is j.a. "The Wingless" Burnett

Thank you again for your time, since I know how terribly busy you are with

OC3. Best of luck to you on that.
