I was actually waiting for this after I read you talking about it in the GRMRB thread. I did hear the old version once, and then this new one. It does sound a bit cleaner.
I like it quite a bit. Nothing incredibly incredibly exciting going on, but it's a nice 'chill' mix and I really like some of the liberties with the melody you took on this way over-mixed theme and I particularly like some of the background harmony shenanigans going on. Hopefully the panel just doesn't see "Zeal" and hit delete

Wow I just found out about this project. I had vaguely remember hearing about a MMX project, but I didn't realize it was this far along or this large in scope. I listened to the previews and they sound pretty awesome! Can't wait to hear the whole thing!

i realized after writing this that this sounds abjectly harsh, and i don't mean it to be. drac's song sounds great as a remix of solar man. i don't think it stands up as a 50/50 split of both themes, though, simply because it's nowhere near 50/50.
I was thinking the same thing the more I listened to all the remixes... You make a valid point prophetik. In fact DS laid out the criteria as follows: "When casting your vote, consider the the technical proficiency of the piece, the overall enjoyability, and most importantly how well the artist incorporates both source tunes into his remix".
And I stress the importance of "most importantly how well the artist incorporates both source tunes into his remix." People do need to remember that when voting on any of the mixes.

DarkeSword, I was wondering if we gonna get a revenge rounds and how it will works. I eared the critique and I want a rematch, I still want to mix and learn.
I don't think they are doing that again. I remember it getting really messy and complicated in the first GRMRB, plus it took up even more time. They didn't do one in the GMRB because it was easier to not worry about it.

If I win I'm extremely tempted to name the one against Splash Woman "I am Hot and You are Wet"
Better yet, if Hylian Lemon & Brandon Strader (Hard Man vs. Splash Woman) were to meet in the semi-finals, then we could have "I am Hard and You are Wet".

I think changing the key of Snake Man would sound pretty cool. Or... since you are a lyrical mastermind, you could start in one key, and then have a power key change during the last minute while you bellow out whatever lyrics you come up with.

Haha, I don't know about that. You make some awesome mixes. All three of your tracks from the GMRB are favorites of mine. The Protoman bracket is pretty stacked with you, WillRock, and AeroZ, among others in there. There should be some intense match-ups.

Are we giving feedback, or is there only voting?
Last time most people gave a brief write-up on what they liked, what they thought needed work, etc. for each track. Some people were more in-depth than others. It's not necessary, but I always like hearing feedback on my work, so I try to give constructive feedback when I can.

Wow! This is great! I love the style and vocal performance by Ashleigh! I was a big fan of the Wild Arms collab track you guys did awhile back as well. Speaking of, I can't wait for the entire Wild Arms remix album, it should be awesome.

Well... I actually like the first version better...but, the issue isn't with merely replacing a sample (french horn) with another sample (harp). You need to work on the articulations in the piece, the attack of each note and each instrument. Orchestral pieces are very hard to make for this reason, wind instruments are very hard to emulate and make sound natural using samples.
Short of recording an actual orchestra, there are some things you can do to get more out of your samples. Specifically, as I mentioned, you'll need to work on the articulation (attacks) of each note, how a note decays (fades out), etc. For example, the flute that starts at 2:03 just doesn't sound natural. Every note has the same attack and it sounds abrupt, and there is no change in volume. I play trumpet, and that is just not how any wind instrument sounds. There are several very intricate nuances to wind instruments' sound that need to be adjusted to make a sample sound natural. Now that is no insult to you, it's just a matter of that this is a very difficult genre to tackle. I'm not sure what software you're using, but you'll have to do more than drop a MIDI track into a synth and change the samples. Depending on what you have, there are some decent VSTs that include wind instruments (WIVI, Mr. Sax, some Native Instruments soundpacks) that you might be able to find demos of. With these you can record the piece using a keyboard and control the type of articulation, level of decay, reverb, etc. It might help to try to get a more natural sound.
I like the idea though. Snake Man as a orchestral piece could be very epic. It'll just need a lot of work to make it sound natural. Good luck!
