OCR04062 - Mega Man X5 & X3 "Never Gonna Give (Up the Funk)"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The amount of soul in this funky track almost made my soul leave, damn! The vocals, the beat, the entire production and arrangement of it all just kicks ass in the smoothest way possible. I love this, man. Y'all did so good on this. -
OCR03903 - Mega Man X3 & X6 "Beetle Dopplerganger"

I remember liking the original competition version a long time ago, and I like this version even more. Lot of good ideas on blending the two themes around each other. Very nice mix! -
That was godly, simply put! If I wasn't aware of the source and was told this came from a classic power metal band or even the Strive/Xrd ost, I'd have believed it with those awesome vocals and guitar licks. Everyone just did so incredible on this ReMix and it really might be one of my favorite Willrock tracks as of now. Recommended for any metal lovers who also want vocals soaring higher than the clouds, damn!

OCR04710 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV "Big Apple Bass"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Something about the vibraphone here reminds me of some of the mini Mario levels in Mario vs DK. But to the actual mix, it's a neat little jazz piece that fits well with the jazz lounge or bar setting. Could easily see this in a lighter section of a noir story. Cowabunga indeed! -
OCR04308 - Super Mario World "Underground City"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The synth and bass and overall 80's vibe was great, and when the energy really picked up it was a blast to listen to. I could see why some folks might have been harder on this, but it worked for me. Not bad. -
OCR03559 - Super Mario World "Mario for Airports (1-1)"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I certainly didn't find this boring, it's very peaceful and calming. Could definitely have this on if I'm fighting a headache and need to just lay down to feel better. It's nice. -
OCR03372 - Super Mario World "The Moon of Bowser"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is terrific! It seemed conservative at first (usually not an issue for me), but it really built in on itself and made the mix sound like an update of the source, which is my favorite type of close mix. I'm also usually not against fade out endings, but man, this really could have done more with a definitive end, be it a crescendo or slower, creepy drifting off of piano keys or bells. But ending is a small nitpick for a great mix. -

Gotta love some well done percussion popping around some creepy synthy goodness. This really lets the mood just settle in. Good stuff! -
OCR04139 - Mega Man X2 "Wires of Sponges"

That electric violin was hot! It's a good arrangement for a theme that is fine but was due for a bit of a fresh fusiony coat of musical paint. -
OCR03665 - Super Mario Bros. 3 "The Journey Never Ends"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ooooh, really digging the horns section in this one, which get complimented super well with the drums and bass. Really classy, superb even. The ending theme for SMB 3 is one I usually forget about honestly since it goes by pretty quick at the end of the game, but this did it justice for sure. -
OCR03632 - Super Mario Bros. 3 "Through the Clouds"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Hella bouncy and quirky indeed. Got a bit of a floaty feeling to it, very pleasant to listen to. Good stuff. -
OCR03396 - Super Mario Bros. 3 "Underground Pipe Society"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
One of my favorites from the album, it's a really good edm take on the Pipe World map that's got the hook that makes it easy to hear the source and how it flows all around the mix. Has a nice groove to it, keeping the spirit of world 7 very much alive, so nicely done. -
I actually really dig how well metal and dubstep gel together, especially when it's mixed together tastefully like this, giving it all of a bit of an electronic bite that doesn't overdo it. Makes the whole song aggressive and menacing in the best way.

OCR03697 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Squitter's Dream"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I get the feeling of a lakeside portion of the grove-like forest from this ReMix, so be it a dream or water, the R&B arrangement certainly give it a unique and wonderful sound. It's pretty good in my opinion. -
OCR03635 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Be Kind, Rewind"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Sounds like, to me, taking this theme and giving it the synthpop treatment was like giving it a shot in the arm and putting a bit more pulse into it while maintaining it's original beauty, so that was cool. Loved the little effects here and there that really sold the arrangement. -
OCR04081 - Super Mario Bros. 2 "Birdo's Revenge"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Short, sweet and turned a very repetitive boss theme into something cool and made the most of it while throwing in some fun raps. Pretty fun for less than a minute and half, love it. -
OCR01466 - Super Mario Bros. 2 "Gypsy Jazz"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
There's indeed something authentic and charming about this mix, that it just makes me happy to hear it. I think OA said it perfectly, cause I could easily hear this playing in the background of an old Pixar shorts video they used to have before the main movie started back in the 90's. Neat mix. -
Holy shit, dude, this is hands down my favorite ReMix of Hyrule Castle as of now! The long organ intro, the guitar, the glam metal vibes all over the place, everything about this mix hit my brain and ears just right. Highly recommended, instant download, never leaving my playlist. It's past fire, it's fucking musical lava, damn!

OCR04704 - Mega Man X2 "Battle Against a Sponge"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Funny enough, for as much as I love the X games and their music, I kinda felt the same as Wake when it came to X2's boss themes. This is 100% more enjoyable and reminds me of later X games when boss themes came in all different kinds of fusiony sounds. Awesome mix. -
OCR03533 - Mega Man X2 & X6 "Laser Power"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Yeah, this definitely has that sweet 80's feel, especially the synths. This was nicely done. -
OCR03537 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Seagull Sonata"
Crulex replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Intro had me thinking we was going to get a seagull birdcussion, but it was a nice lead in to this awesome song. Light and upbeat 70's energy with a damn good acoustic guitar. I loved this very much.
