  1. I always thought this was a solid track and you're definitely right BONKERS. Doing a track that has been covered so much makes it that much harder to appeal and keep fresh. In honesty, this was fantastically done. A lot of interest and creativity are present here with production that is fab. You may feel as though you could do improve on this, but a year down the line its still sounding great.

Its great to see this posted on OCR and look forward to hearing more of your stuff :nicework:

I love this mix, especially the guitars and drums - it's definitely one of the best from Vampire Variations. Excellent work here BONKERS, you've only been shooting up with skills!

Thanks a bunch guys. I'll continue to work hard and improve!:<

  2. This remix may not appeal to everyone, but I hope some of you can enjoy it at least. :<

Trying to find a new but faithful way to interpret such an often covered song (that's been done in just about every which way possible) is a tough thing to do. (Even more so, when it's something that means a lot to you personally)

Looking back a year after I finished this song. There are a few things I could've probably improved on. But that's the beauty of time, you learn and grow more as you go on!

    Cheers!

  3. There need to be MOAR remixes of music from this game. Because in game these days the original music is really drab, mediocre and too repetitive(Not to mention is a bit of a mediocre showcase for FM synth). It shows it's age certainly, but this remix breathes new life into this game's soundtrack.

I've been thinking of doing a remix like this of this song for a while since i've been replaying Wolf3D. But looks like someone beat me to it. And did it extremely well too. (Aside from some mixing issues. The leads have a bit too much high end and sound a bit piercing. Rhythms are a bit too bright as well, the clean guitars could've used that brightness instead I think)

    Great work.:nicework:

  4. Hey, before the internet hate riots, keep in mind that whoever was responsible for this trailer is a very small subset of Disney. Probably one guy who sourced or oversaw the music. I doubt there was some guy smoking a cigar on piles of money saying "Yes... yes... let's rip off this well-known chiptune artist."

There are a few possibilities here before you all pick up your pitchforks:

    1. The music supervisor /editor on the project asked for a knockoff of that song specifically.

    2. The music supervisor / editor browsed through an existing music library and picked this track, not knowing it was a ripoff (eg. the producer of the video is innocent). This is a very real possibility. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of tracks in music libraries. Some of them will inevitably be total ripoffs, which is entirely the fault of the composer who wrote them.

    3. They somehow licensed the rights to the track and covered it.

    This.:nicework:

  5. Believe me, with the kind of orchestral stuff listed as planned, hard drive space will be a huge issue. I speak from experience, here.

Also, whatever drive you get will need to be halfway fast. Most modern hard drives should be alright, but personally I'd recommend at least a 7200 RPM spindle speed.

If you plan Orchestra stuff, the extra processing power goes a LONG WAY.

I would look into getting 12 or 16 GB RAM if you plan on doing heavy heavy orchestration

  6. Personally, after hearing
from the X68000 version of Akumajo Dracula, I'd love to hear a swing arrangement. It's a song that's rife for a larger variety of styles than it's been treated with, that's for sure.

The X68k FM version is still my favorite version of this song next to Dracula New classic.

A swing version wouldn't be that hard to write either probably TBH, just getting a good recording of it without paying out the ass for live musicians.

  7. Finally someone brought this up. Because I was SERIOUSLY PISSED how you people reacted to us trying to just give fans the opportunity to own a copy of our stuff. It was NEVER for money.

I'm not even going to bother reading the excuses or "Reasons" you have for yours when you tore us apart basically.

Sorry, that's just one thing I'm not and cannot be objective about.

Because in the end, you only hurt the fans.

At least we weren't asking for 15,000$ just to give people the chance to own one.

  8. I've not finished listening to the album but I liked it a lot. I'm more of a metal person.

Prelude was interesting, even though the entrance of the distorted guitar was a bit strange. Most other tracks have been nice, but the vocal track (Epic Win I believe), the 10 minute long Sentient Machines and the fun Gurgling Desert Pond have been my favourites.

Originally it had narration at that part, but we had a disagreement because some of the judges said it wasn't very audible but us on the project could hear it fine(Was distorted vocal narration that used the Intro narration from the actual game)

I didn't feel like troubleshooting it at the time because I don't have a good recording mic and couldn't get a good second take to fix whatever issues there were.

So yeah that's why it's weird, because it was originally designed around that narration. Without it, it probably sounds weird.

    /Shrug

This was the first project I worked on and it was the last to come out of all them.

  9. I'll be honest. When I heard the very first trailer for this project waaaay back in the day I didn't think it was going to be very good at all. The trailer didn't sound awesome to me, and I felt a bit disappointed. So I haven't been terribly hyped about it, despite it being OMG ORIGINAL FINAL FANTASY (which I adore~!).

When I saw the NEW trailer at OCR recently I was really impressed because it sounded so so so so so so much better than the first trailer. So I was definitely interested in hearing this album, which I just did~

I have some mixed feelings, but overall my impressions of this album and project are positive. I don't want to go too in depth of my feelings and critiques only after one listen, however, so I'll be listening to it more before doing that. Well, *if* I do. The internet has taught me to be very careful about offering critique to people when it's not asked for given raaaaage reactions. XD

    First impressions matter!

    :lmassoff:

And honestly I can't offer any objective advice or criticism, because i've been listening to all this music over and over again for the last 2 years.

    Got epic fatigue.

    I'm burnt lol.
