  1. I finished a new song recently called "The Tragedy". It's instrumental prog metal like the rest of the album. You can take a listen here: http://www.reverbnation.com/dreambliss Enjoy!
  2. Nice shreddin' dude. I seriously need to pick up the guitar sometime and learn the SOB. I'd love to be able to rock the shit out.
  3. It's been a while since I've been here. Almost forgot about this site. Here's a new song I just recently wrote called "Lost In Dream". It is progressive metal and is part four of the story on the "Surreal Nightmares" album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JgDi79rFoY Enjoy!
  4. ManniganMusic - Thanks for the feedback. I was conservative with the low-end so I don't have the bass guitar and kick drum fighting for the same EQ space. I did carve out a section of the EQ for each, but still remained overall conservative on the bass guitar. I should really bring it up a bit but I have been so heavily focused on making the guitars sound sick I lost sight of it . Dash Myoku - Thanks for the feedback. The instrument that you are referring to is called the Drunken Harp, and I used it as-is, no added effects. It's in Absynth 5, and well, you can guess by it's name why it sounds the way it does, lol. I use it for atmosphere. All of the guitars are from a softsynth called Electri6ity by a company called Vir2 Instruments. They are routed into Guitar Rig 4 Pro where I created my own custom presets. There are actually four rhythm guitars layered with two hard left and two hard right, all with different effects and slightly different performances. The drums are from Superior Drummer 2.0 by a company called Toontrack. I created my own preset for them as well. Sorry to hear that you are jealous... lol. Last year I spent over $2,500 on software and spent a great deal of time learning everything... and it paid off rather well. You probably don't want to listen to my other two tracks then, hehehe. Now, onto your track. I think this has so much potential. Right now it fits as a soundscape but not quite as a song. I am anxious to hear what you do with this.
  5. ShadowBlade, your tune didn't suck at all. It's not necessarily a style that I listen to much but I enjoyed it. It is catchy and well put together. Actually I'm finding it quite difficult to constructively critize the tune. The only thing I can come up with is that I think with this style of music, the bass is a tad weak. Although listening in my headphones isn't doing the justice.
  6. Interesting concept. Listening to your tune I would say the instrument that resembles a flute that comes in at 0:39 and goes until 1:05 is overbearing. It needs to be pulled back into the mix a little bit. Other than that I think the tune is excellent. Here's a link to a post I made a week ago that contains a few songs: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33969 Feel free to listen to any of them if you want and provide feedback. I always welcome constructive criticism from other artists. It's how we all learn and improve.
  7. Of course there's nothing like the real deal, but there are some VSTi's that emulate it decent enough. I use Vir2 Electri6ity and have been rather impressed with my results so far. I wish I had time to learn the guitar, but between working full time for one company, then working after hours and weekends for a small business that I'm part-owner of, my family, and then my other hobbies when I do have spare time... I simply don't have enough time. It's taken me a year to crank out three songs for the current album I'm working on... Check out my thread titled "Surreal Nightmares" if you want to hear how Electri6ity sounds with Guitar Rig 4 Pro. I spent a few weeks tweaking the tones to where I like them, nice and gritty. I layered four rhythm guitar tracks, two hard left, two hard right, all with different tones and variation in performances.
  8. Definitely a much better transition. I'm not entirely diggin' the flute, though... it sounds a bit too happy in the outro. A violin might be better suited. Also I am still not entirely thrilled with the rhythm guitar tone... are you using shreddage for the rhythm guitars, RealLPC for lead, and RealGuitar for the acoustic? I hear ya on the guitar... I'm not good either. My problem is I just don't have time to practice, so I resort to using software instead. I use Vir2 Electri6ity for my guitars and I think they turn out rather well considering it's not real. You should check out my thread further down the page here... I posted three songs that are rock/metal/progressive/instrumental with a dark/eerie theme. These forums don't seem to get many visitors as no one has replied to many threads even on the main page... no big deal to me I use Sonar X1 Producer Edition for my DAW with the following softsynths/VSTs: Kontakt 4 Absynth 5 Electri6ity Scarbee Pre-bass Superior Drummer 2.0 Massive Dimension Pro Rapture Guitar Rig 4 Pro Maybe some others I'm forgetting right now... I program everything by hand in the PRV. Sounds like you do the same
  9. No problem. Glad I could provide constructive criticism. I would hope you don't drag out the song to 10 minutes . Once a song crosses the four minute threshold, it becomes increasingly more difficult to keep the listener's interest. That's why I aim for about 3:45. What DAW software, softsynths, VSTs, etc... do you use?
  10. I dig the guitar riffs but don't like the sound of the guitar. It's too synthetic. The song is in need of a main melody. After 3:04 I think the song takes a turn for the worse. It was pretty rockin' until that major change where it went from a dark and rough world to suddenly the sun was shining and happy bunnies were dancing in circles around a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. There is nothing wrong with a shift in theme, but it's too drastic and doesn't fit. I was expecting an epic solo as the song before then was really picking up speed... Other than that I still think it's a pretty cool tune but needs some work. You of course can tell me to jump off a cliff if you'd like
  11. I've been working on an album since last year called "Surreal Nightmares". I only have three songs done so far, as my other hobbies have been consuming my time . The album is rock/metal/progressive/instrumental with a dark/eerie theme and there is a backstory behind it. I'm trying to get back into working on the album again. Here's links to the songs done so far: Starless Night: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11540065/Dreambliss%20-%20Surreal%20Nightmares%20-%2001%20-%20Starless%20Night.mp3 Into the Darkness: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11540065/Dreambliss%20-%20Surreal%20Nightmares%20-%2002%20-%20Into%20the%20Darkness.mp3 Unnatural Disturbance: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11540065/Dreambliss%20-%20Surreal%20Nightmares%20-%2003%20-%20Unnatural%20Disturbance.mp3
