  1. like I said quality is crap, :/. I only just finished my first year of cegep (same as finishing grade 12 in the states). Also so far, we've only been taught how to compose in a baroque style (because it came before the rest of contemporary western music) and well to be honest I don't like much baroque (except Bach, he's a genius).
  2. Rofl, good point. I'll get onto it now. Just listen to it musically speaking... Not from a production standpoint lol Edit: Here it is. Realized I had "recorded" it in finale when I made it.
  3. I'll have to look into it. See if I can dish out the extra 100$ for it. :/ Better start saving up lol. For now I'll have to live without it though. And erineclipse, I don't know if I'll be able to show them, everything is hand-written on scores... Actually there is one score that's already in a PDF and it's my favourite... Short but sweet. I'll look into it. MAybe I can send by PM?
  4. Thank you so much for this insightful information. Unfortunately, the fruity version does not support automation (this I know), so I'll have to find a way to get around that. But I really like how you're helping me understand the fundamentals of modern electronic music. It's completely different from the classical stuff I have to do for school!
  5. I might get in on this, classical guitar accepted? Also my recording may not be up to par, so it may end up being a no for me, if the quality is no good.
  6. Edit: Just tried a flanger effect on the bass-ish synth. Woah. Effects here I come (not going to go overboard though!) I will work on the arp, perhaps I'll try to change it up a bit so it's not so repetitive. As for an extra melody, I was thinking of doing a variation on the melody that starts at the very beginning for the first seven seconds or so. Gotcha thanks. First off, thanks for the detailed response I will do my best to vary the triads as best I can without getting rid of the whole vibe thing this has going for it. The piercing synth thing will definitely be addressed so that it doesn't distract from the enjoyment. As for the filter-envelopped bass (erm what? o.0), I understand how it can be repetitive, obviously it's pretty catchy though lol. I was planning on adding a whole other section before closing it off, and I probably will, but it got really late (3 AM ) and I wanted to upload it on here before hitting the sack, so the ending is pretty much out of nowhere and definitely needs to be worked on. That means the kick, the rhythm the whole thing... For the effects and all that, I literally have never touched those before, and I don't even know if my Fruity edition of FL even has access to them Also I did not understand any of what you said about them except that I can make it better by using them XD But thanks for the great response!
  7. Okay, thanks a lot Also, what do you think about it, does anything stand out as needing to be fixed or changed?
  8. I pretty much spent the day working on this original track. I think it falls under Drum n' Bass, but to be honest I'm not too familiar with that genre so I could be completely wrong. If anyone knows what genre it really is, please do tell. Would love some feedback on this one! Edit: it's techno apparently lol.
  9. Yeah, I started off trying for a double-dec (in quebec our post-highschool studies are different than basically the rest of the world) in Music and Sciences and Technology. But failing science courses like Chem and Math was not fun, and I knew that the music program was where I belonged though. And man, with that kind of practice, you must be quite amazing if you took the time to get back into it.
  10. Hmmmm... Enticing idea. But I am in a music program, so I can't really complain. My only real obligation is to play guitar, which well, lets face it, I enjoy more than videogames!
  11. Love the triplet(?) at 0:47. It's a nice melodic touch that isn't expected. Very jazzy, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a menu!
  12. lol 22 is not old. That's not at all what I was trying to say XD However, yeah, I don't know what to say Pc to Ps2... then Xbox360, to gamecube, then wii. in that order Lots of games I've missed out on I know lol. And well, I just don't have the time I used to to play games any more. I'm lucky if I get an hour a week of halo ;p
  13. Hah, I'm not nearly old enough to have experienced enough SNES. My first console was a PS2 a few years after it came out and I was around 9 or 10 at the time I do remember my parents renting a nintendo 64 for weekends though and playing s-cars. Fun times. LOL.
  14. I can't really say that anything in this ReMix stands out. But maybe that's the point. It seems great for some easy listening when you're stressed out. Also I'm unfortunately not familiar with Earthbound, so no nostalgia factor for me :/ Not your fault though lol. Needs to be finalized obviously, bu that can definitely be done
  15. Here's the link to the thread I started for my beginner's "remix" of the Rebel Army theme: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=782924#post782924
  16. Thank you for the advice, I realize its simple, but as you say it can only help.
  17. Just started this recently, it's really just the beginning for now. More of a project for me to learn and get some basic grips of FL. It's my first attempt at ReMixing so everything and anything is helpful. Feedback is always appreciated, thanks!
  18. Being completely inexperienced at making anything good (as in me), I really like it. It has some quality that makes it all work. And I'm loving the transition at 3:05. It sounds so cool!
  19. Definitely looking forward to hear how you work on those attacks as SuperiorX says. Also, I think the whole strings section from 0:32 to around 0:50 kind of takes away from the momentum you were building. I do like how it fades out and then the whole shabang comes in. 0:50 to 2:04 is pure magic.
  20. I have to say, this has epic written all over it, just like Guifrog said. My only issue is from 1:50 to about 2:20, the melody seems kind of choppy, I don't know if that's what you had intended, but for me it seems kind of distracting. But really, it's something I would be happy with if I came up with something like that.
  21. This is actually really funny! I don't know if I'll have time to catchup to everything, but I'll definitely be tuning in regularly!
  22. It stays close enough to the original, but the genre is definitely different. I like it a lot, although I think the ending is a little bit odd, but that could be just me. I would definitely download it if I knew how to lol. Keep it up!
  23. Hey everyone! This is my first time posting anything I composed on the forums, and well that may have to do with the fact that I discovered OCR just last night... Nonetheless, this is a work I composed a couple months ago using the demo for FruityLoops (hence I cannot access the project and modify anything). I find it's influenced by video games and that it would fit right in one if it was needed. Without any further ado, here it is: I'm hoping to get some feedback, good or bad, as long as I can learn from it. Thank you anyone who even takes a look at this thread.
