  1. Gah! Ix-nay on my real ame-nay! o_o;;

    Sorry, but the harp *can* go that low. The piano is the only other instrument that has a greater range than the harp, being able to go a minor third lower and an imperfect fifth higher than the harp. The only reason most people don't use those extreme ranges are because of the sustaining power below the bass clef and the harp's highest tone sound too sharp and metallic.

    Hey, I won't argue with you there. ^_^;; However, what I meant was that while those notes may be physically possible to play on a harp, they don't work too well in this context. It just seems unnatural and unnecessary to go that low. I was also using it as evidence to show that part was a MIDI rip...it might've sounded good in Michael's piano arrangement, but it becomes awkward when directly converted to harp.

  2. I've always felt a little iffy about this remix...in a few places it's a direct MIDI rip of Huang's arrangement, with some instrument changes (you can tell harps were never meant to go that low). However, the transition to the Aria and the occasional original arranging work is enough to justify this remix's presence on OCR. Congratulations, maestro, on your first OC remix.

  3. One word comes to mind at the moment: SWEEEEET. The sax is so convincing, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was fake if my life depended on it. I personally loved the part at 4:00. ;) I can't wait for your next ReMix...

    As for the soundtrack itself, of course a lot of it's going to be generic, since RD is a text adventure. But the main tunes, like Day of Summer/Far Promise and Star-Stealing Girl, I feel are some of the most profoundly beautiful I've ever heard. Of course, Far Promise has been done quite to death by now, so I was very pleased to see someone remix the ending theme for a change.

    Mad props, Jaroban. Mad, MAD props.

  4. I was astonished to see this track didn't have any reviews until now. It's one of the few ReMixes that have earned a coveted place on my hard drive (well, maybe not coveted...but with only 2GB, you gotta keep only the best).

    I suppose the only thing that could be held against this Mix is that it's too close to the original (virtually note-for-note, in fact). I guess it's more of a "ReMake" than a ReMix, so to speak (ha, aren't I clever...). But it's a darn good one, and definitely deserves its coveted place on OCR. Now it's time for it to earn a special place on your hard drive, too. Don't ask, just download.

  5. It's a great mix of the StarDust Good Future from the Japanese soundtrack (The best of all original Sonic Soundtracks! The American version su......well it's decent..).

    Erm...that IS the American version. Unless the PC version uses the Japanese soundtrack instead. Which actually might be possible, because I recognized the Palmtree Panic mix. O_o

    Anyway...I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said. That IS a nice bassline...I found myself moving to it without even noticing. ^_^;; An great remix of an already awesome song. It's good to have a ReMixer that appreciates the greatness that is the Sonic CD (AMERICAN) soundtrack. ;)

    So can you do Metallic Madness next? Please, GeckoYamori, you're our only hope!

  6. Man, how did this get on OC Remix?? The bass line is completely non-harmonic and doesn't complement the melody at all, although that doesn't seem to be an issue nowadays. After two loops (well yeah, the pitch bend was kinda interesting...), I started to wonder if anything was gonna happen, and then suddenly...oh wait, that's just him hitting random notes in the general direction of the melody. After that's finally over, he goes back to the original loop, and I wait for something else to happen. Oh my goodness, look, he raised the pitch! I can't believe it, it's never been done before, this is a total breakthrough, it's going to change the world of remixing forever!!

    NOT.
