  1. Oh ffs, what happened to the file? Editing the reply doesn't seem to work on my end. >:( Here's the most recent update of this remix (still in progress): Sand Trap (Revival).mp3
  2. Oh, trust me, I'm not diminishing your feedback, but I know the limits of the console, which this stays within, but it clips, causing the sound space issues. I actually use the DAC channel for samples, keeping my PSG channels available instead. I chose Crystal Clear mode for this (as I do for most mixes), as the hardware emulations released in recent years (I forget what they're called) allow this option. I know that in a real game, there will likely be more compression. I just like it to sound good for my younger audience. And yeah, that crackling is annoying as hell, but it might just be a phase click, could be something else. Definitely investigating that when I return to this.
  3. Thank you for the feedback, definitely will develop this better in the future. Technically fits on the SEGA Genesis as is (assuming zero compression for game assets), but that being said, I'm still not satisfied with it right now.
  4. Still needs some volume leveling, sound design and other edits, but I think it will be pretty nice when I get around to finishing it. Star City.mp3
  5. I had lyrics ready for this, but feel free to drop some bars over this and post it here.
  6. I actually got the original sample (without the bitcrush) from a post on Sonic Retro. There's a big search for all of the source samples in Sonic 3, and most of them have been found.
  7. Thank you to everyone who replied here for the useful feedback on this track! I haven't had much spare time lately, but I did get around to working on this a little bit. Here's an update. Sand Trap (Revival).mp3
  8. A SEGA-flavored 20 track cover album of billboard hits. I intend to get this stuff licensed for Spotify and other streaming services in the near future. Youtube playlist here:
  9. I'm necroing this thread because I'm necroing this project. Recently did more work on the Sandopolis one: I'd love to see more people jump on this.
  10. This is from, uh, 4 years ago. I just threw a couple more hours into it (mixing before was freaking awful, lol), but it's nowhere near finished. Sand Trap (Revival).mp3
  11. Inspired by an 8-bit cover I recently stumbled across. Radioactive.mp3
  12. I dug up this old thing I made way back in 2012 using the studio acapella, samples recorded from an emulator and VOPM. HREA.mp3
  13. I don't think I've heard any Ice Cap Zone remixes with a triplet time signature, so I did one. Still a lot of work to be done here, but let me know what you think of it so far. Ice Cap Skip And Slide [BETA].mp3
  14. I used to use a plug-in similar in appearance to Genny called YM2612 (free on kvraudio). My main issue with it is that it is not compatible with sample rates above 44.1kHz. I'm not sure if Genny has this issue. I also grabbed RYM2612 because with the free VGM player RYMCast, it is possible to port instruments from VGM into RYM2612. Matter of fact, this cover contains modified Shinobi instruments, while my cover of Better Off Alone (by Alice Deejay) is primarily modified Sonic 3 Ice Cap instruments. Also got RYM2612 for the legacy filter and ladder effect options, as well as the ability to bitcrush audio via audio routing (route your drum sample track to RYM2612 for DAC). It even has a DAC prescaler for custom compression amount. BTW if you ever wanna use Deflemask, RYMCast can output instruments for it. Again, drag and drop.
  15. Currently, the project file for this is hanging out in a dead SSD that I hope to recover one day. Strawberry Avalanche.mp3
  16. I've got RYM2612 by Inphonik and SuperPSG by AlyJamesLab (both paid VST). I like your idea about automating parameters for realistic sound. I like to use the velocity sensitivity in RYM2612 and just alter note velocities for change in sound via the individual FM operators. A lot easier than automation, but that's with RYM2612. I'm not sure what Genny has, I've never used it.
  17. First time putting a solo in a piece of music. Total work time about 12 hours. Also, in case anyone is wondering, visuals done in Blender with waveforms generated in After Effects.
  18. Interesting mix of songs. I hope Anthony Vincent sees this, I follow his channel, Ten Second Songs. It's nice to see OCR mashups still alive 15 years after they started being a thing. RIP Constromlie.
  19. I'm almost satisfied with the chorus and bridge sections, but the verse parts need a bit more work. Someone To Call My Lover.mp3
  20. Thank you to everyone for the thorough criticism. I will definitely keep these things in mind when I have time to give this project another go.
  21. An original piece I first wrote early in 2016 and recently decided to refine for my YouTube channel.
