Having found this awesome site in 2003, hard to believe its already been 20 years now. Although, haven't no musical talent myself, and growing up loving video game music, to which most people thought I was just crazy, it was absolutely amazing to find there were not only those out there who also loved this music, but have taken the time to make all these really great remixes. So a huge thank you to djpretzel (and staff) who have made this place and the music something to enjoy over the years and for many many more to come. Over the years, editing tons of videos, some even professionally, it has always been fun to use a song here from the site, to which I have used many. Always love to introduce the place to someone who has never heard about it....(some of those people still exist) -Jedimichael

Happy 25th Birthday Chrono Trigger (American Release)
Jedimichael replied to Jedimichael's topic in General Discussion
Made a new Chrono Trigger and Cross video, using music from the many awesome and talented people here (and some found off youtube), to which I gave full credit for, I only just mixed the many songs together. Since the big debate is if Chrono Trigger was actually released in America on August 11th, 1995 or August 22nd. I tend to go by the 22nd, but others prefer the 11th. So I am posting this kinda in the middle of each date. Happy 28th Chrono Trigger. (at least we know the correct year) -
Despite not as many people using the forms here as much, still, as for a mouse, I use two fingers on top, although totally never thought about it before. I have the logitech MX518 gaming mouse that my brother gave me. But it has the two buttons on the left side, but I kept bumping the back button when typing stuff out, like this here, bump it, go back and lost everything I typed. I tried to disable it and windows kept saying I couldn't do it for whatever reason. I got so mad at that stupid button, I took pliers and ripped that whole thing out. I'm a much happier person now....lol.

Happy 25th Birthday Chrono Trigger (American Release)

Finished the magic test for anyone interested. -
As stated above, I never learned how to really make music of any kind. With a blank canvas I'd be like....duuuhhhhhhhhh........... BUT, I did have ONE way, technically. One that I'm sure plenty of people have tried and used, maybe even got their start in music. Thats using the 1999 Playstation game, MTV Music Generator, aka Music 2000 in some areas. I've spent years and years playing around in that, which thankfully gives you the premade riffs to add, and then expand on those. Its really been the ONLY way for me to figure anything musical out. Sad, I know. Just this last December, I took every song I had made, remastered them and made this 5 hour long video. So while NOT remixes from video game music, IT IS music made on a video game. So despite my lack of knowledge of creating music, I am still proud of what I made here and what I was able to figure out. I do use sound programs for sound design and mixing, so that probably at least helped.

I first found this place sometime in 2003....so hitting 20 years already....so crazy to think. But I've never gotten into making music and can't play even one instrument. But listening to it, and editing videos to the music, thats my thing. Back in 2003, I was trying to record every game soundtrack into the computer so I could then burn tons of CDs to listen to. I had to hook a mini DV camera to the game system, record each track in real time, then hook the camera via firewire and record to the computer, also in real time. It was an extremely time consuming process. A lot of games have a sound test, so that was used, or at least some place, area or whatever to get a clean recording. I wanted the original Star Fox soundtrack, but had no way to get it without just playing each level. I didn't have the internet at that time, but sometime in the summer, I went and visited my parents, from Florida to Idaho, where they lived. They had the internet, so in trying to find the Star Fox soundtrack, I instead found a Star Fox remix....which was here. I do not remember which remix, but once I explored the place a bit more, my two week visit was mainly downloading every single remix from the games I already loved....and still on dialup at the time, it was such a SLOW process..... I think I was actually surprised to find SO many people that also loved video game music.....I really thought I was all alone and maybe just crazy. Way before I recorded in the camera way, I would use a basic tape player/recorder up next to the tv, which was surrounded by pillows. Hit record, play the track, and after it looped once or twice, turn the volume down on the tv for a fading out effect. I think the Streets of Rage games were the first I ever did that to....and then the Sonic games. Good times.

Happy 25th Birthday Chrono Trigger (American Release)
Jedimichael replied to Jedimichael's topic in General Discussion
Well, instead of making a whole new thread, figured I'll just add more here since its still Chrono Trigger related, just not the birthday this time. I realized that sometime this summer will be 20 years since I first found ocremix, but, I never have learned how to play even one instrument, so just the listening part is what I mainly do....and make videos to the music. So I made sure to give full credit to everyone involved in these songs. So anyways, posting two videos I have made in the last week. First up is a haste test and trying out a few methods of things. ...and 2nd is the battle test ranking out strongest to weakest. All for fun to one of my favorite games out there. Enjoy. -JediMichael -

I know, but since I'm from America, I definitely have to go by that date. -
(Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong section) Seeing as most people incorrectly got the American release date wrong, even here at ocremix, I have found the true date to be today, August 22. So this is a video I have made plus a longtime goal I have been working on towards Chrono Trigger. Enjoy! JediMichael

8 months later, looks like no one has taken a stab at this?

The Newbie Introduction Thread: Come on in and say hello!
Jedimichael replied to Mahaboo's topic in General Discussion
Hey, I'm Michael and have been coming to ocremix since around 2003, just never made an account as I have no idea how to make music. Instead, I make videos or photoshop pictures. Seriously, as a kid and growing up, I thought I was the ONLY person who liked video game music, even recording if off the tv to a tape player to listen to later. I was that nerd before it was cool to be a nerd. Figured I should make an account here as I have a cool video announcement on Saturday regarding Chrono Trigger and its true American Birthday, which is actually August 22. So if anyone even reads this, stay tuned.
