  1. Well, that's what the OST named it anyway. The title track is just referred to as "Title Theme". How creative.
  2. Okay, NOW the mixing stage is over. The entries have been verified and I think we're in for some competition. So, all you have to do now is contribute to the voting phase. To do so, you will visit the ThaSauce link, listen to the three legibles and use the form at the bottom of the screen to order them from first to third. Contestants shouldn't vote for themselves but they will automatically get three points when they vote. Since I won PRC122, my vote counts twice, so I hope you've done enough to gain my persuasion. You have until Wednesday, July 2nd at 4:59AM EST to cast your vote. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC124! Eligibles Chickenwarlord - Wasted Effort Hylian Lemon - Life of a Goomba just64helpin - Monsters Don't Hurt Mario Ineliegible NeoS - ZOMG! Shrooms! The People's Remix Competition 123 PRCv5-19 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last week's competition took us to some Sonic 3D Blast action, and in spite of a 24 hour extension, it was quite the active round with 4 entries to make a selection from. Once again you wanted to get me to choose the source tune for this round, and I believe I have something firm and ready for this one. We are looking at another series that made the jump to 3D this round. Yet, as Sonic failed to make an impression the first time around, this feisty Italian plumber struck gold with one of the greatest games to be released on the Nintendo 64. Yeah, I gave the clue away too soon...! Now, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see exactly how we are looking at a defining moment in gaming for a situation like this. To be honest, I am too; Koji Kondo has been a strong musical mind over the past few years, no doubt about it, and his material for Nintendo have been seen as defined classics regardless of the situation they were brought about for. The score for Mario 64 was no exception to the rule either - most of it did indeed play safe though as a huge majority of the tunes fitted most of the typical feels for the different settings throughout, but it worked out really well in the long run and was responsible for some of the more upfront tunes that came to be remixed on OCR today. The source material that is being towed in for this round is arguably the most known of the lot, if the music inside Peach's castle is taken out of the equation. It's pretty much got everything associatable with classic Mario written all over it - a catchy melodic line, the setting being happy as hell and there being enough to interpret for a wide number of different variations on this theme. I don't understand myself over why it hasn't even been remixed yet, because it was literally screaming "I want to get inside your head and leave you to whistle the tune all day long", or something. Super Mario 64 - Main Theme MIDI | MP3 | USF ( library) I have the understanding that "Portrait of a Plumber" is in the works right about now, but I still think there needs to be some kind of source coverage even if that falls through. Either way, it's a requestite for a Mario main theme to obtain a bunch of remixes for itself, lol. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, June 28th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of the previous contest can't take part but their vote will be doubled. 3. Well it sounds awesome that's for sure, albeit the issue now is trying to ensure that their idea of remixing isn't just taking a MIDI into Fruityloops. It can be a good way to spread the word, but the issue is trying to find somewhere to start outside OCR and all. We'll think about it, I assure you. For now, it's results time. Which of you obtained the Chaos Emeralds and defeated Dr Eggman? And which of you lost all your rings - and your sanity - to a single badnik? Total number of mixes - 4 Total number of votes - 5 (lame!) Hightest possible score - 15 Chickenwarlord scooped up another last place wooden spoon with 6 points. Binweasel mildly shone his way to third place with 8 points. munchi is left out at second place with 10 points. And the winner by an unanimous decision is Rexy with 15 points! See, I knew this would happen. And you may think I'd complain about the state of finding a source tune while doing other more exciting things. Whichever is the case, I have something ready and you'll be surprised with the selection - you thought it might have been covered by now but it absolutely hasn't for some strange reason or another. Whichever happens, it's been a quiet week for PRC in spite of everything coming together at the last minute but we still managed to put up a show. And let's see if we can keep building on that for the next contest - PRC123, starting this Friday.
  4. There should be, the rocket pack is one of my favorite Crash series tracks of all time I did a Crash 2 mix long ago, but that was more accustomed for Remix: ThaSauce if anything. Here's to a take on the Sewer theme at least.
  5. Alright, people. The mixing stage is over. And 24 hours' stimulation coughed up four entries - not bad! Time to vote, gentlemen. To do this, you should visit the ThaSauce link, listen to the entries and fill out the form at the bottom - select three and place them all from first to third, with a reasoning attached to it. Contenders are encouraged to vote as they will automatically receive 3 points if they do so. The winner of PRC121 (just64helpin) has a vote that will count twice. You have until Wednesday, June 18th at 4:59AM to cast your vote. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC123! Binweasel - All That Glitters Chickenwarlord - Just Coal munchi - Dusty Diamonds Rexy - Snow in July
  6. Well, having had problems trying to host the so-called anonymous entries for PRC100, this would be an issue to deal with as if I host yours on your behalf, I therefore wouldn't take part as I potentially would have used my IP to help you (and yes, I actually have an entry in the works). But if you could get a non-participant to upload the revision for you, then they can do that and I'll take care of the rest.
  7. A time extension is just an added 24 hours. If the turnout issue persists by the next day, then another one is added; only two can be added depending on the scenario. If there is only one entry by Monday, then the sole contender wins by default; if there are two, a standard PRC voting scheme happens except that the contenders don't need to vote (their votes won't affect the voting at all). And a MIDI rip can just be seen as taking a MIDI of the source tune from somewhere and changing the sounds in the mixing program of your choice. PRC76 (Decap Attack) has way too many examples of those >.>
  8. Well, no one sent anything. Might as well make the extension
  9. Come on, there's 12 hours left and no one has submitted anything (the one on the server doesn't count as it was disqualified for MIDI ripping). Is this going to be the first time extension I'm going to give in 6 months?
  10. Well, it didn't put much of a dampener to PRC68 (Animal Crossing - K.K. Condor) and PRC97 (Pokemon - Silph Co), where two versions of the same track were both used then as well. Whichever happens, your preferred Act 1 files are on the ThaSauce server either way, much like the original Game Boy variant was for the aforementioned Pokemon PRC.

Binweasel - All That Glitters Chickenwarlord - Just Coal munchi - Dusty Diamonds Rexy - Snow in July The People's Remix Competition 122 PRCv5-18 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last time we were here, we had an Eek! the Cat related contest that almost definitely erased PRC93 from veterans' memory; five entries graced us each with varying styles but one goal - to win the whole thing. And it was a first win for just64helpin who tackled the source with something more ambient and moody than a fair chunk of his competition, and given the warm reception his dedication easily paid off. PRC122 moves us away from crappy games of the SNES to crappy games of the Genesis - specifically, the beginning of one blue spiky rodent's fall from grace. If I mention something about saving flicky birds and an awkward isometric movement system, then you'll easily know what I'm talking about...! Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis) - Diamond Dust Zone Act 1: GYM | MIDI | MP3 Act 2: GYM | MIDI | MP3 Even though J64 specifically stated the Act 1 version in the submission letter, both variants on the theme share the same basic melody so they can both basically be seen as exactly the same track but with different forms of accompaniment, in a similar fashion to the last 2 thirds of Sonic 3 and the first half of Sonic & Knuckles. But hey, it's debatable if anyone wants to counterattack my POV on the matter ^^; GOOD LUCK! 12. Alright, time to seal the poll! Now, which of you lucky devils have escaped from the UFO alive, with Annabelle's sanity intact? And which of you had to give her up to become a giant space battery? Total number of mixes - 5 Total number of votes - 9 Highest possible score - 27 Binweasel claims his first ever last place wooden spoon with 5 points. munchi bit his way into fourth place with 9 points. setokaibarocket renegade-master'd straight into third place with 13 points (nice Wildchild reference btw). Chickenwarlord just got stuck in the escape hatch - second place with 16 points. And the winner of PRC121 is just64helpin with 23 points! Well done on your first win! It takes guts for something milder than the usual to achieve first, but you proved yourself to be very popular amongst the PRC crowd. Since this is your first win, I might as well explain the basis on picking the source tune. It can be any song as long as it hasn't been covered on OCR; this can mean anything whether it's an uncovered track from a popular game (e.g. Sonic 1 boss) or tracks from a game with little coverage yet (e.g. the entire Sonic Heroes score); furthermore, tracks covered on site projects but not on the main site (e.g. Sonic 3 Carnival Night Zone) are still fair game. I expect to have the source tune in my inbox by Friday. Thanks for your time gentlemen, and I hope to see you again for the next exciting instalment of PRC
  13. Jesus Christ, every time I do a grammatical mistake there's always some kind of broadway production over it. It's fixed.
  14. The mixing stage is over! Now let's dive into the voting stage, y'all. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will automatically gain three points for themselves if they do so. The vote of PRC120's winner (Siamey) will count twice. You have until Tuesday, June 3rd at 4:59AM EST to make your vote. The winner will get to pick the source material for PRC122! Binweasel - Terminal Shock Chickenwarlord - Inside the UFO just64helpin - Seek the Cat munchi - When Saucers ATTACK!! setokaibarocket - Damn, Can't Think of a Good Title
  15. Excellent work, gentlemen! The so-called "curse of PRC93" has been lifted! I'm listening to the entries now to verify their placements, so it won't be too long until we get to the voting.

Last contest's Final Fantasy VI related endeavor continued to push the intense turnouts that PRC has been receiving as of late, thanks to a total of five contributing mixes for Jidoor's Magic House. And it was a comeback from Siamey that secured the fate of this coming contest - an intricate fusion of FF6, FF8 and mid-tempo trance (in which he thought sounded more like something Timbaland would do) were what was on offer in his winning entry. Before we move ahead to this coming contest, let's cast our minds all the way back to PRC93, where after winning a Teddy Boy based contest, Siamey picked a track from a SNES game based on a Fox Kids cartoon. However, miscommunication on the song choice resulted in a poor one-entry turnout, the abolishment of the original PRC system and the stimulus for analoq's conception of the Compo ThaSauce system used today. Now, Siamey is willing to revisit the past but will the results be better received this time around? Or will it, like PRC93, take the show's catchphrase "It never hurts to help" to a different meaning altogether? Eek! the Cat - Flying Saucer (Stage 2) MIDI | MP3 | SPC If only if Siamey linked to the sound rip at snesmusic.org rather than Zophar, that would have saved me trouble squatting through the first level and the game's sloppy control scheme just to find out where this track is played. But oh well, it speaks volumes on how everything else was done right... or so I think. GOOD LUCK! 17. Staying up til THAT hour? That's best reserved for the freakin' Dwelling of Duels, not PRC But anyway, we got results! Who saved Relm from the likes of Chadarnook and is advancing to Kefka's tower? Who got lost inside Owzer's house? And who still needs a freakin' airship? Total number of votes - 9 Total number of mixes - 5 Highest possible score - 27 Chickenwarlord and setokaibarocket are both sharing a last place wooden spoon between them with 8 points each. munchi lounges his way through to third place with 13 points. OneUp just got rocked out to second place with 15 points. And the winner of PRC120 is Siamey with 25 points! Well done once again! Who would have thought that FF6 and FF8 would blend together like that? (And for the record, no, it didn't sound like Timbaland; his beats are thinner than that ) Still, I'm assuming you know the drill concerning PRC source selections, so be sure to send it into my PM box by Friday morning. Thanks for your time everyone; once again the turnout was fat and I hope the trend will be able to keep itself up over the weeks to come. I'll see you all on Friday for PRC121!
  18. ThaSauce downtime means that there'll be a voting extension of 6 hours. I can't let it happen like that >.>
  19. Talking of which, does anyone know how long R:TS has been down for? I'm almost implied to extend the voting deadline if it gets any more serious overnight.
  20. Alright, time to move onto the voting stage! We've got five mixes submitted, so we've got ourselves a coherent round. Nice one. Here's what you're going to do (and pay attention Siamey, this is a different system than last time you submitted an entry). You will visit the ThaSauce link and fill in the form at the bottom of the page. Select 3 mixes and rank them from first to third with a reasoning attached to it. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will automatically get three points added to their score if they do so. The vote of PRC119's winner (Showroom Dummy) counts twice, so make sure you impress him just as much as your peers. You have until Tuesday, May 20th at 4:59AM EDT to cast your vote. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC121! Chickenwarlord - Totally Ordinary Cottage munchi - La Casa de la Magia OneUp - Haunted House setokaibarocket - Call of the Arcane Siamey - TimeShock
  21. Providing there's a hint of Magic House there, I wouldn't mind. Still, we got a bunch of entries, so I think we should move onto the voting stage. I might be nearly 2 hours late, but I'm sure we'll move ahead pretty soon.
  22. Don't worry, after hearing your entry you're in the clear. It's alright to reference to certain sections of MIDI to include in a mix in some form or other (I believe Chickenwarlord does that quite a bit). It only gets really extreme if it ends up being a conservative arrangement; I believe PRC76 was nasty in particular considering midi-ripping, due to there being three disqualified entries and all. You can tell that since then I've had to be more careful than the usual validating PRC entries.
  23. Bundeslang got it right. I think the last time we had a PRC mix head onto OCR was with Bladiator's winning entry for PRC81.
  24. I have, and what a ride that was Mind you, I'm more inclined to do a second new game + and this time sweep for a Kratos ending in order to fill up the collector's log at last. I don't care about plot twists, Kratos is cooler than Zelos, end of story.
  25. Yeah Katie, don't let Lea and Luiza down now
