The People's Remix Competition 110 PRCv5-6 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Though promising at first, last PRC's Duck Tales related contest resulted with a very meek response in both remixing and voting. But through all this, OneUp managed to scoop a win under his belt. He's pretty much like me wishing for PRC to end up being as bustling as it was during the previous three seasons. So it's by no surprise that he rooted for a very popular game series and the second Nintendo DS source tune to boot. Altogether now: Juese Belmont, dadadada daa doo-doo dada... Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Pitch Black Intrusion MIDI | MP3 I haven't explored much of the Castlevania series as a sequence of games, but as far as the music goes, it actually makes me want to look beyond just Circle of the Moon. This better get a good response, otherwise this kitten will be shedding tears tonight. That's OneUp's work, not mine. Anyway... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your image to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, December 29th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

PRC109: A Little 'Disney' Trouble at Duckburg (Duck Tales)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
The voting stage is done. Which one of you varmints went off with Scrooce MacDuck's hard earned fortune? Total number of votes - 3 (wut?) Total number of mixes - 2 Highest possible score - 6 This is getting more pathetic... oh well. You choose your winner:- And the winner of PRC109 is OneUp with 6 points! After all that promise we end up with the weediest vote count in the history of the competition. But what's done is done - OneUp, you managed to pull through with this one, and it's now up to you to make a decision on what source tune should be used for the next PRC. Remember, it can be any song as long as it's not covered on OCR (site projects don't count). Thanks very much for your time, gentlemen. I'll see you again tomorrow provided we got a source tune together. -
PRC109: A Little 'Disney' Trouble at Duckburg (Duck Tales)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Right, so we have enough for a competition. You know what to do - visit the compo link and fill out the form. Which of the two mixes do you prefer? Place them in the ranking grid and state a reasoning for it. Contestants don't need to vote as they will cancel their votes out. The winner of PRC109 (ToN) has a vote that counts twice. You have until Thursday, December 20th at 4:59AM EST to make your vote. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC110! Chickenwarlord - Mountain Climbing OneUp - Duck You! -
PRC109: A Little 'Disney' Trouble at Duckburg (Duck Tales)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
We have one entry, but it's still not enough for a competition. I'll apply another 24 hour extension, but if by the end we don't get another entry, Chickenwarlord will win by default. -
PRC109: A Little 'Disney' Trouble at Duckburg (Duck Tales)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Nope, it's usually meant to be at least a full 180 hours from the initial starting date. Still, this is kind of puzzling me over why previous PRCs have become all this sluggish. -

Well, what a surprise. No entries and the deadline has come around. It looks as if we'll be extending the deadline again. -
The People's Remix Competition 109 PRCv5-5 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Previously, Theory of Nonexistence took his first PRC win in a Lemmings related contest, and if anything showed, practically *anything* could overpower anyone who claims more last place wooden spoons than the usual (!). Still, it's time to focus on the present. We've gone back a gaming generation, even though we're still with Nintendo. This time, we swapped green haired rodents for all things in the mallard family... and the evil animation corporation that is Disney. Duck Tales - The Himalayas MIDI | MP3 | NSF (track 6) This better not kill PRC like the same series killed its Animé equivalent XD Whichever, we need more Duck Tales love. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your image to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, December 15th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. Okay, the voting stage is officially over. And we shall see what kind of results we got out of that. Who reached the exit safely? And who was mistakenly assigned to be a bomber to send the winner through? Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 9 Highest possible score - 18 And once again we saw the results coming... The winner by an unanimous vote is Theory of Nonexistence with 18 points! Dustin, way to go on your first win! You must have come a long way from your rap contribution earlier this year; shame you didn't finish your work but I saw some promise from you. Either way, you'll need clarification now for the next stage - today, you'll need to come up with a source tune for the next competition. It can be any song as long as it hasn't been covered on OCR (site projects don't count though, so stuff like Sonic 3's Carnival Night Zone theme is still fair game). I hope to see you again tomorrow for PRC109. Be there

The mixing stage is over. Now we have two entries, we will have a voting stage. This is what will happen - Register at ThaSauce if you haven't done so already. Head to the competition's page and use the voting form at the bottom to decide your preference between the two entries, with a reasoning attached. The remixers can't vote as they will just cancel each other's vote out. Alex's vote counts twice. Once you've submitted your vote you can return to your Christmas shopping (!). You have until Thursday, December 6th at 4:59AM EST to make your vote. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC109! Chickenwarlord - Suicide Cave Theory of Nonexistence - French Metal in My Pocket

I admit, I haven't been an active remixer for several months. It's just a case of trying to adapt to my new home setup if anything. I tell you what though, the first PRC that happens in the new year, you can be sure that I'll have a go with what I've got going.
-
And 24 hours later, it gets *another* extention. We might have got an entry, but more could be required. If not, then Chickenwarlord will win by default.
-
Well this is kind of embarassing. The deadline came and no one submitted anything. Looks as if this is going to get an extension. >.>

OCR01551 - Parasite Eve "Beauty's Abomination"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I find it ironic that this would be Reuben's last submission. I didn't check it out properly until today though, and from what has been proven, he showered the original source tune with such grace and beauty that Yoko Shimomura could be proud of. It's times like this that I envy his skills to carry such skill into solo piano and still love him for it. Definitely a highlight as far as Parasite Eve coverage is concerned. -
OCR01650 - Pokémon Red Version "Clairvoyant Eulogy"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Hah, you judges thought the source tune sounded like the "gameboy batteries were dying"; if you heard it as it was in the game itself (as stated, at Lavender Town), you'd know what it was like that. Still it was awesome to see a twisted source like that transformed into an equally twisted arrangement like this one. As The Damned said, it's a shame that it's not on the Pokemon project lineup, otherwise this would have made one heck of a release track or something. -
It's rare that I ever type much outside the competition forums these days, but when Nario told me about the news, I got here as fast as I could. I just can't believe what has happened here. Reuben had so much of his life ahead of him, and I never would have guessed that he could have ended up losing it all this way. From the mixes I've seen he adds a lot of feel to his work and it was so sweet to see it all that way. I just found it horrible that he ended up being a part of a significant tragedy. There's only one time when I spoke with Reuben directly though, and that was when I was seeking for remixers for the Dragon Warrior project (which is still kind of stagnating, and still will be until I locate someone to take over my project management duties). He provided a complete finished work on the Zoma boss fight from the third game, and instantly blew me away with that. If there's any kind of musical example that we have to see around here, it was from this guy. I may be a poster of very little words here right about now, but whichever, we as a whole at OCR will collectively miss him.

The People's Remix Competition 108 PRCv5-4 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last time, Alex Smith came to the fore into a Descent based competition and took - after what seemed like a while - his first win (though correct me if I'm wrong, lol). As far as the source tune has gone, he's gone for something pretty fun. I may have only properly approached this franchise through the PSP version, but no one can really deny that this is a very iconic game today. Someone needs to call for their OWN drills to help these poor rodents from their own impending suicide...! Lemmings (SNES) - Opening MIDI | MP3 | SPC What can I possibly say about all this? You better make a strong showcase of mixes before they fall into a pit unknowingly. >.> GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your image to be 6MB or less in size. Right, the voting stage is now over. Let's see who managed to fly home safely and take the bacon with them. Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 6 Highest possible score - 12 And I think we all know where this is going to go...! The winner by an unanimous decision is Alex Smith with 12 points! Well done on your entry Alex, and again for a standing unanimous vote - very cleanly deserved. And for that, it's up to you to choose the next PRC source tune. I can't remember if you won prior times or anything, but I'll mention this - it can be any song as long as it hasn't been covered on OCR yet (site projects don't count, so stuff like Sonic 2's Wing Fortress Zone music for example is still legible). Once you've made a decision you should PM it to me. Thanks for your input everyone (and Kyle, don't worry about the mixers - just be happy we got as much votes as we got this time around ). I'll see you all tomorrow with the source tune.
-
The mixing stage is over. And now, we move on to the voting, and it's all a straight forward process. * Sign up at ThaSauce if you haven't done so already. * Go to the PRC page there and fill out the form at the bottom of the page - decide which of the two songs you prefer with a feasible description. * Click "submit" and get back into the Thanksgiving rush (non-American residents need not apply). You have until Thursday, November 22nd at 4:59AM to make your vote. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC108! Alex Smith - Mr Real Ale Alex Chickenwarlord - Foreign Currency
-
But someone might though. We only got one competitor so far, so it's getting the extension anyway.
-
Well there are several reasons why it got a move to ThaSauce. Reason 1 is that not everyone is able to provide themselves with their own web storage so that could be an issue when they try to submit their own songs. The second reason is that even if PRC originated from OCR, there's this awkward belief being passed around that djpretzel is completely against that sort of thing and felt that tucking them away at a quieter part of the forums would cause activity to drop. Hence, third-party support in the case of TS would help boost its support that way. And this may be a silly final reason but it had to be stated anyway - the tallying system on there is a lot easier to manage than Excel spreadsheets (which I used prior to then).
-
You have to, it's a straightforward process tho. Do you have any issues with it?
-
Bah, I must have mislabelled the MIDI before I even uploaded it. I'll fix it accordingly, and by the time I do the link you provided won't work, Chick (can I call you that?).

The People's Remix Competition 107 PRCv5-3 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! It was all about baseball with robots last contest, where Base Wars ended up receiving coverage from a couple of competitors. And after a fair game with no foul balls required, Aussie judgefgt TO scored his first win a while, and a close one to match as well. This contest, we're returning to 3d first person shooters. And it already had 2 PRCs under its name way before I took the reigns, but that shouldn't be a bother, right? Anyway, who's up for launching fire in a six-degrees-of-freedom environment? Descent - Credits MIDI Those who like to use MIDIs with their arrangements, this has shown no excuses to get stuff done on time this time. Do it, otherwise TO would sick a rabid joey on you all. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your image to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SUNDAY, November 18th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. PRC106: Three strikes and you're scrap metal (!) (Base Wars)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
In Wii Sports fashion... that's the game! Who pitched more runs than the other? Let's find out. Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 5 (-.o) Highest possible score - 10 Alex Smith only just got struck out to second place with 7 points. And the winner of PRC106 is The Orichalcon with 8 points! Lee, we so missed your aussie judgefgtry. Nice comeback for the PRC, man. Hopefully you won't be as late as Nutritious was for the next source tune though. I hopefully want to get PRC107 up by tomorrow night, so if you can think of a source tune for then that will be great. Thanks for your time everyone and I'll meet you at the same "base" for the next compo. (God, I can't do baseball puns to save my life.) -

Alex, I'm not part of the admin team for R:TS so I don't really know what's going on concerning your track. I'll get in touch with Garian as soon as possible. Still, once again I screwed up with the ThaSauce time feature. The clocks going back around the world seemed to screw things up, and this is actually 5AM EST, so... The mixing stage is over. And now, let's let the voting stage commence. There are two entries, so all you have to do is visit the competition link and decide on your preferences between them with a reasoning attached. Contestants don't need to go through this procedure at all as their votes won't even affect the final score. The winner of PRC105 (Nutritious) has a vote that will count twice. You have until Friday, November 9th at 5AM EST to make your decision. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC107! Alex Smith - Watch a Fat Boy Run The Orichalcon - 42 Minutes Precisely
