  1. 30 minutes have passed. And nope, they didn't. Still, what a voting turnout, gentlemen! Could this also be the highest turnout I've witnessed as a PRC host? I can't even remember myself. But anyway... Total number of mixes - 12 Total number of votes - 17 Highest possible score - 51 This PRC is definitely for the history books! Second highest turnout, highest overall entries and vote quantity at C:TS, and a heck of a lot of difficulty deciding who gets the points - absolutely *wonderful* work, gentlemen - "I Feel the Cosmos", indeed. (Okay Bev, shut up with the Katamari references already and announce the winner...!) Binweasel and his weedy chocobo collided into a last place wooden spoon worth 3 points. OneUp, Pleiade and setokaibarocket make up the joint 9th place gang with 4 points each. Bundeslang, your PRC successor (hopefully), could only muster 8th place with 5 points. just64helpin dumped his broken computer into 7th place with 6 points. DZComposer launched his jazzhands into 6th place with 10 points. evktalo strummed his way through to 5th place with 15 points. Hylian Lemon could only serenade as far as 4th place with 16 points. analoq and Nutritious share their champagne and a joint 2nd place finish with 19 points each. And the winner for PRC130 is Theory of Nonexistance with 27 points! Seriously, the turnout overwhelmed me - I wish I could be giving prizes to more than just the top three, but all the OCR store has is a bunch of clothes! But anyway, well done everyone! You've certainly made this a PRC to remember! Aaron, Dustin and Justin - please PM me your mailing addresses and preferred hoodie sizes so I can order the prizes as soon as possible. [EDIT: After checking out the store, this doesn't seem to be the case. If any of the lower rank contestants want it, I can send you an OCR bumper sticker for taking part. If so, please PM me your maiing addresses so I can get right on it.] And now, as the sun sets in the UK as well as my time here, I'm ready to take up the transfer of administrative rights with Garian (providing he's around). Unless, do you still have access to C:TS's primary servers, Aaron? I'll make a full farewell writeup in a couple of hours or so - I'm in the mood for a bunch of chicken wraps at this time. PRC131 should hopefully start tomorrow, with Bundeslang as your host. Are you all ready for the changeover?
  2. Am I going to be searching for ANOTHER Katamari image to signify this? Wow, thanks for the news! It's all heating up now, with just 30 minutes left. And I'm telling you this now - only two remixers have yet to vote. But will they? O.o
  3. It's a little too late for bonuses Nuts, but I'll at least put it up on Doulifee's server if you send it my way
  4. Alright! We've got a clear set ahead of us, and now we shall move on to the voting stage! So, this is what you're going to do. You're going to visit the ThaSauce link and check out all 12 entries (and the one ineligible). Once done, you scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out the form - select three mixes and file them from first to third, with a reasoning attached. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will automatically gain 3 points added to their score. You have until Friday, October 10th at 1:29PM EDT (don't worry Bunde, I think you should be able to start PRC131 the next day). Since (as above) I'm "moved to tears" to the amount of entries we've got, I will grant hoodies to second and third place as well as our winner! Again, well done for the fantastic turnout! Eligible analoq - cheers, rexy Binweasel - 2:26 to Damycan bundeslang - Theme of Fantasy Love DZComposer - Dreaming of Brass Love evktalo - Remembering Rosa Hylian Lemon - We Love You Rexy just64helpin - Digitized Heart Nutritious - Return of Love OneUp - Melodic Love Pleiade - Evolution of Love setokaibarocket - Always and Forever TheoryOfNonexistence - I Love This Radio Ineligible The Runaway Five - Theme of Love (Jazz Ballad) Sir NutS - Hello Miss Rexy
  5. Glad to see you got it up in the end, bro. Still, how the heck can I describe the turnout for this contest? Seriously, I can not be any more amazed by the turnout for one thing! 12 legible entries? Putting it this way, I am happy to say that this is the second highest PRC turnout ever! (The first obviously being PRC26) I'm currently validating all the entries now (And TheEndOfTime, I didn't even get your message, unless it meandered over to my ThaSauce inbox, which I never get notifications for anyway). Hopefully we should get a voting stage going pretty soon
  6. Well, I suppose there's no harm in extending the deadline by four hours so OneUp can get on (or as soon as he hosts his entry, whichever is quicker). Consider it done. Now get on there and get it up
  7. It's too late for me though; Nario already showed it to me last November.
  8. The People's Remix Competition 130 PRCv5-26 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! And let me extend the welcome through to the fifth anniversary! I can't believe that the year that has passed has gone by so quickly - as the old saying goes, "time flies when having fun". So, let's recap what happened last year. It's been a slow start due to there being a string of "Chickenwarlord vs the World" segments up until PRC111, and by then we managed to see a lot more fluent new faces that establish the class of 2008 as we see today. I look at everyone around here and I have the full belief that they have contributed well to the contest over the past year, regardless of how many wins (or lack thereof) secured, how well certain PRCs have done in comparison to others, and the like. As you all know, PRC anniversaries tend to have a tenuous history of prizes that never happen (unless it was PRC52, when the prize indeed was a promised set of bragging rights). But not this year! Since this might be my last formal contribution to OverClocked ReMix, I will treat the winner to an OCR Hoody of a size of their choice! It's a win-win situation - the winner gets rewarded for their remixing efforts, and djpretzel gets more money to roll in. If the turnout gets high enough, I might even offer prizes for second and third place too, so I would love to see y'all get to mixin'! Before you do, let's look at the source tune. We're looking at a very popular franchise here, not to mention one of the staplemarks of the entire series and its exposure in the western world. It had recently been released on the Nintendo DS in remake form, provided a lot of revolutions in storytelling and mood setting for RPGs of this time, and rightfully has a place as one of the finest SNES titles ever made. The source tune from it is one of those surprising numbers that I swore could have been covered by now but actually wasn't - apparently taught as a music piece to Japanese school children, there is a lot of room for a wide range of different interpretations much like so many other themes of this genre, and so we might even see something welcome for this one. Do you want your game and tune? Look past the jump! Final Fantasy IV - Theme of Love MIDI | MP3 | SPC I'm really sure you can make not only myself proud, but the competition and all its past hosts proud too. Let's see the fifth year - and my run in hosting this thing - sizzle in a blaze of glory. Spread the word, work on the track, and let's make this one to remember! And now, for my last time... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by THE TUESDAY AFTER THE NEXT - October 7th at 11:59am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of the previous contest can't take part but their vote will be doubled. Doulifee's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifee, and we'll help you out.
  9. Alright! Just before we get involved with the anniversary (which will start today), we shall look on at the results for this round. It's been very close, but I can reveal that someone managed to (do this), while someone else lost their Celestial Brush. But whom? Total number of votes - 6 Total number of mixes - 2 Highest possible score - 12 The winner of PRC129 is setokaibarocket with 10 points! Once again the early bird catches the worm. Congratulations on your win! You know what to do regarding source tune selection - I won't be surprised if you pick yet another Fire Emblem theme though. Since your choice is for PRC131, you have 2 full weeks to think over the source tune - plenty of time to make a decision. Once you're done, send your source tune selection to Bundeslang - hopefully if the ThaSauce staff time this right, he will coordinate PRC once PRC130 is over. I'll meet you there for... *sniff* the last PRC that I will EVER host! But still, let's see PRC's fifth season end in style!
  10. Bagh... only 2 entries. Might as well get on with it, in spite of the poor turnout. The mixing stage is over. The voting stage has begun! You are instructed to visit the ThaSauce page, check out both entries and make your judgment on which is better by filling in the form at the bottom. Contestants don't need to vote as they won't affect the final outcome. The winner of PRC128 (Hylian Lemon) has a vote that counts twice, so let's hope you win them over. You have until Thursday, September 25th at 11:59AM EDT to make your vote. PRC130 will be a special event and will start as soon as this compo is over. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC131! Binweasel - La Mort de ce Belle Vie setokaibarocket - Son of the Shogun
  11. Of course there's an extension. I thought PRC126 made the compo hit rock bottom when it came to interest, but what the hell has happened here?
  12. No feelings on iMushroom / Echidnas May Eat Your Brain? It's still a very comprehensive review, mind you. The Project Chaos team welcomes your feedback
  13. The People's Remix Competition 129 PRCv5-25 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Seroiusly, just saying that is already making me feel a little subdued. To think, this would be the last proper contest that I will look upon as a host. I swear, I need to come up with some kind of speech for the end of PRC130 or something. O.o Looking into the more recent past, PRC128 provided some much needed Mario Galaxy representation. Though the turnout didn't turn out to be something to cry home about, the variety was excellent all around and it all came from a cheery fresh-out-of-Labor-Day effort from Hylian Lemon which secured the fate of where this current competition would go. Technically, we can say that we're still sticking with the Wii, even though this particular game also has a release on the PlayStation 2. We are talking about one of the last games of the great Clover Studios before Capcom's decision to dissolve the team, and an epic tale concerning Japanese folklore, wolf goddesses and - wait for it - painting. It's a weird combination, but it works! Okami - Cursed Shinshuu Plains MIDI | MP3 Man, if I wasn't in the middle of finishing up a work placement, I'd take part in this in a heartbeat. I'm with Ben on this one - Okami is FANTASTIC, and I advise everyone who loves videogames to get out there and play it. Eh, enough with the excitement already...! GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, September 20th at 11:59 am Eastern US Time.
  14. ...quiet voting spree, huh? Once again I turn out to be late for an important part of the competition. It looks as if I need to set an alarm going for next time >.> But anyway, the voting stage is over. Every vote has been finalised, and the bonuses have been applied. Now, which of you made it off the Gateway towards the first Grand Star of the game? And which of you got tired trying to catch those buggered star bunnies? Total number of votes - 7 Total number of mixes - 3 Highest possible score - 21 setokaibarocket tripped his way into third place with 11 points. evktalo made a decent opening campaign into second place with 12 points. And the winner by an unanimous decision is Hylian Lemon with 21 points! Well, who would have thought that one of the quicker-made entries would win the compo? It still was a well deserved win though, so well done once again Ben! You know the drill now concerning the next source tune - I expect your selection to be in my inbox by Friday. And that concludes another PRC. I will be with you on Friday for PRC129!
  15. You could have brought it up prior to the deadline, so I'm sorry - entries are closed. Concerning Nario's track, I'll try and at least host it on Doulifee's webspace and list it on the PRC webspace there at least when I get around to it. Bonus entries are bonus entries Now, I know I'm 5 hours late but let's plow on with the voting stage. You have three entries to make your vote from, so head on over to the ThaSauce page and listen to them. Once done, use the voting form at the bottom of the screen, place them from first to third and state your reasoning. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will automatically get three points added to their score. The vote of the winner of PRC127 (Binweasel) counts twice. You have until Tuesday, September 9th at 11:59AM EDT to cast your vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC129! evktalo - Cosmic Plumber Hylian Lemon - Dream Drifting setokaibarocket - Shroom Trip
  16. The People's Remix Competition 128 PRCv5-24 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last compo paid host to the second source selection from setokaibarocket, and the second Fire Emblem based round this season. The short source tune invited quite a few participants, and it was a widely-crafted composition effort from Binweasel that after striving hard for the past few rounds has finally achieved his first PRC win. I'm getting the feeling that Nintendo games, first party or otherwise, have been part of a good luck omen for PRC participation over the past few months. So it's by no surprise that for this competition - our second based on the Wii - we are looking at one of 2007's best selling titles and a return to platforming goodness from everyone's favourite Italian plumber. Yep, you've guessed it...! Super Mario Galaxy - To the Gateway MIDI | MP3 Binweasel sent the track acknowledging its name to be "Chasing Starbunnies" or something; I'd just went by what it said on the actual OST release, if that's ok with him. But anyway, let's move ahead from the chit-chat and get to mixin'. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, September 6th at 11:59 am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. 17. I'm not implying at all - it's an easy way of trying to explain what to opt for in a PRC sourcetune to first-time winners. I generally rotate it around the selection of franchises that ended up with a site project to their names. Anyway, Binweasel has sent his submission to me. It's not Kirby, but it's still damn good. I'll meet you tomorrow for PRC128!
  18. Yep, you just need to PM/email the source tune to me and I'll take it from there.
  19. Actually, you'll be surprised over the votes. I forgot to apply the bonuses from the voters and the previous competition winner, and with that in account, I'm actually ready to provide the results. So, here we go. Quite a better turnout from last time... now why couldn't you do this for PRC126? >.> Total number of votes - 8 Total number of mixes - 4 Highest possible score - 24 bundeslang is left to go home with a last place wooden spoon worth 10 points. Tevin-Illithane wasn't far off with third place, scoring 11 points. Xenon Odyssey jumped the gun and tripped through to second place with 19 points. And the winner of PRC127 is Binweasel with 20 points! Sorry Bobby, but you just lost out. Binweasel, congratulations on your first PRC win! I knew I thought I'd see something come around after what you provided with the Robowarrior PRC, and to see you provide something developed from such a short source tune shows that you might become a promising asset yet. So, it's up to you to pick PRC128's source tune. Remember the core rule - the song must be one that hasn't been covered on OCR before. So, it can mean a tune from a popular game (Kirby's Dream Land - Float Islands) or a tune from something that has otherwise been undercovered (most of the Kirby 64 soundtrack), though songs previously heard through site projects (Kirby's Adventure - Butter Building) still count. I'm excited to hear from you. I'll meet you on Friday for PRC128. If you're not there, then you'd better have a good explanation for it.
  20. ... I KNEW I did something wrong with the tags again. Concerning that I was born in the North of England, my English is surprisingly crappy. o_o()
  21. Not to be nasty or anything, but you SHOULD have taken part. I swear, if I ever partake in a PRC in the future, I won't rest until I actually give *justice* to the Crash series. Stupid two participants... stupid two voters too... Trying to shove it aside, the mixing stage is over. The voting stage has begun! Go to the ThaSauce link, pick three entries out of the legibles and order them from first to third with a reasoning attached. Contestants are encouraged to vote as they will automatically gain 3 points upon doing so. Make sure you have impressed setokaibarocket, as his vote will count twice for this round. You have until Tuesday, August 26th at 11:59am EDT to cast your vote. The winner will get to choose the source material for PRC128! Eligibles Binweasel - Steel on the Skyline bundeslang - The Heat is Off Tevin Illithane - Solemn Oath Xenon Odyssey - Gangsta Knight Inelligible Siamey - being for the benefit of mr Knight
  22. Yes, thank you. My wireless connection was terrible last night (hence the delay of getting the compo thread up to begin with) so I didn't have time to check the code or anything o_O
  23. Nah, this won't at all forge an earlier retirement than the usual. I just feel really disappointed as a Crash fan more than as a PRC host; it's a weird connecting factor, since outside Sonic and Donkey Kong Country, I've literally forced myself to see into everyone else's childhood listening to what's on the site. Is this an understanding over how put down I feel?
  24. The People's Remix Competition 127 PRCv5-23 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Do I have to start with recapping the previous contest every single week? Seriously - from this point on, PRC126 will strike me painfully in the back of my neck for weeks to come, most notably because of its poor turnout both on the mixing AND voting fronts, not to mention having a strong heart concerning the Crash Bandicoot series. I'm pretty sure I won't see Mutato Muzika in the same way for a long time thanks to this. But with that out of the way, setokaibarocket took the win, and anyone who ends up incorporating as many Windows references as possible in the space of just over two minutes gets massive props for otherwise lightening a grim situation. Assumably these events have also resulted in him facing a change of plan from his original PC game choice. Much like I revisited the past, seto decided to revisit his by picking a source from the exact same series as what he picked for PRC114. But will his choice of this certain Nintendo RPG brand be a lot more successful than mine? Fire Emblem (Rekka No Ken) - A Knight's Oath MIDI | MP3 Thinking of it this way, Nintendo-based products were complete winners during the middle of the PRC season, so we might be onto something with this one. I see plenty of room for multiple adaptations on this one, but what would you think about it? Either way... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, August 23rd at 11:59 am Eastern US Time. Doulifee's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifee, and we'll help you out.
  25. ... Do I need to start the closing thread already? My confidence has hit rock bottom, and you very well know why. Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 2 Highest possible score - 4 What does this tell me? Well, this tells me that this is actually the LEAST POPULAR PRC for quite some time, and this has actually really thrown back my confidence not only as a host but also for the hopes of seeing some further Crash loving in the videogame remixing scene. The bottom line is the so-called "difficult decision" certainly didn't pay off, and people find Crash "too inaccessible" to consider offering some kind of love to. I'm disappointed with this. But moving on... The winner by an unanimous decision is setokaibarocket with 4 points! It's been prophesized from the start apparently, lol. Seto, please make sure that you send the source tune in well ahead of time so that we don't have to painstakingly wait for you like with the Fire Emblem PRC. I'll be there tomorrow for the next PRC, and hopefully I'd be in a better mood by then and all -.-
