  1. Seems more like a mix of Zelda 3 samples and FM synthesis.
  2. I am familiar with Tryezz's work outside OCR and was pleasantly surprised to see him appear here. Check out his youtube channel
  3. Finished it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSJQATRDBSw Will upload on 8bitcollective once it's back.
  4. Updated a bit http://tindeck.com/listen/eknt
  5. http://tindeck.com/listen/erld Using ripped MMX1+2 samples. Justice Beaver is not the final title, just thought it would be a funny boss name. Needs: Intro, some better transitions, more drum parts, etc.
  6. Alright, so it's a rumor. But there's many things giving the rumor some weight. It starts off with Feargus stating last year that they would like to work on the franchise. Then, last month Obsidian had a job posting for a "highly stylized, high profile RPG". It's unlikely this is an original franchise, given Obsidian's history, the "high profile" description and how their only own IP Alpha Protocol was a commercial failure. Yesterday there was also an interview with Chris Avellone where he's hinting at something with "One thing I'll say - being an independent developer gives you access to franchises I never thought possible a few years back." So why would Square-Enix ever farm out one of their franchises to Obsidian? For one, they already have a relationship with eachother now through Dungeon Siege 3. Second, we know there are precedents for this. There's Front Mission Evolved, but more importantly they gave their flagship IP Final Fantasy to Grin. That game never got released though, as Grin shut down after Bionic Commando flopping hard sales-wise and the company expanding too fast to keep itself going after that. Still, it showed that SE were very much open to the idea of licensing out their stuff. I can't find the specific article, but I recall SE being queried on why they're not doing anything with the Chrono series, and their response that the sales had just been too low to warrant anything new. Now, we know that Obsidian is making an XBLA game, and it would probably make sense that the aformentioned RPG they need a 2D character animator for is that game. It doesn't seem too outlandish that Square-Enix would task Obsidian with making a low-risk, downloadable Chrono title instead of going the AAA budget route.
  7. There's nothing bad about games coming out every now and then that try to emulate a cinematic feel. It can be a cool novelty. Just as we get movies sometimes that aim for a comic book presentation/narration. But the AAA spectrum of games has just gone completely overboard with this now. Imagine if every big Hollywood movie coming out was the same as Sin City. Would you really like that? Games are now at the point where this is no longer a novelty, it's the standard. Each medium should strive to its own strengths and what makes them unique, not some sort of self-loathing. It saddens me how little thought is put into innovating player-driven narratives (or player-driven worlds when it comes to MMOs). If a game is built mainly around cutscenes and railroaded scripted scenery I will not buy it, no matter how well made it is. This type of experience just fails to excite me.
  8. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/06/14/notch-and-todd-howard-the-one-on-one-interview.aspx A funny meeting behind the scenes at E3. And it manages to be much more interesting than the average game journalist interview.
  9. There's so much great free stuff out there you can use nowadays, both synthesizers and samples. It's not like you're crippled just because Omnisphere isn't within your reach. I don't even feel like I need Omnisphere or any of the other modern "high-end" software.
  10. No it didn't. All we needed was a sequel to the Raimi Spider-Man, without Spider-Man in it. It would only star JK Simmons as Jameson and his office antics at the Daily Bugle.
  11. The ones with bonus scenes have all been made by Marvel's own in-house studio. Movie rights to some Marvel characters are still owned by other companies such as Spider-Man and Fantastic Four. I'm going to assume this is the case for X-Men as well.
  12. Each song should be split into 2 separate file, one that plays the introduction, and the other is the loop file which is seamless at the start and end. Dunno what DAW you're using, but FLStudio lets you bounce with a wrap feature which is great for reverb and such.
  13. http://morphcat.de/superbatpuncher/ Awesome.
  14. They do this because they assume you'll leave the room when commercials start.
  15. Advanced and flexible envelope controls, with a visual interface where you can "draw" the lines like in the FL automation clips. Plenty of LFOs, with a delay wheel, which you can tie to any other function.
  16. After hearing about what the DotA community is like, and given that Valve is working on DotA2, I think I can understand their reasoning.
  17. The Pentagon got hacked recently by a single British UFO conspiracy nut (who commented on how ridiculously easy it was).
  18. Sega doesn't have the resources needed to enter the hardware race again. They would need to start over almost from scratch, building up rep and third party support. They could probably forget about getting EA behind them, who seem to want to have as few consoles on the market as possible. Microsoft spent a huge amount of money to charge into the market, the first Xbox was merely a stepping stone and I don't think they actually made any profit from it. Now put Sega in that scenario and in the state they are today. Also as Rubber Suit said the future of consoles remaining relevant in the long term is not as certain anymore.
  19. But they'll cry foul as soon as they female plate armor that isn't skin-tight with massive cleavage.
  20. Perhaps they will raise the bar for console online potential and actually make Xbox Live a worthwhile service. Oh, who am I kidding.
  21. http://www.camelaudio.com/AlchemyPlayer.php You just need to register an account on Camel Audio to get the bonus pack of presets. It's a solid set of sounds.
  22. I think the chances for these types of projects are very slim unless a dedicated programmer is at the very core of the group.
  23. Glorious PC gaming master race laughs at you filthy console peasants and your primitive online services.
