  1. On the way-off chance that Inspector Gadget is added down the line, use this mix here:

I didn't have a Gamecube, so the major differences are unfamiliar to me (yes, I play using the Wiimote). However, thank you for getting rid of Wario's bike, Rumble Falls, and New Pork City. I DO miss Mario Bros. classic stage and DK's classic stage. So far, Project M is goodstuff. I haven't tried the wifi friendly version yet.

Anyone else? How's it handle online?

And please bring back Mr. G&W's parachute :(

    I miss it.

  2. Better late than never, right?

I'd never heard your music before but was thoroughly impressed. It reminded me of what attracted me to OCR in the beginning, and that was artists who had fun with their music.

BSOD'd is my absolute favorite track. It's just plain soulful and funky. It's FONE-KEH! The kind of track you'd love a live jazz or funk band to play. The Yoshi mount cameo was the icing on the cake (I'd been waiting to here that in another song....)

Nostalgia Breaks Heart, JPEG Jive, and halc's This Broken Heart remix round out my favorites (I like breakbeats and I like chiptunes ... the two put together = Homer's doughnut face).

    Nice work PROTODOME.

P.S. Her #0000ff Eyes off of BLUENOISE gets props also. : )

P.S.S. 'twas the 30 page Chiptunes thread that lead me to you.

  3. I've wide-toothed combed through all 29 pages to avoid a dreaded double-post and I have yet to see someone say this, so I'll suggest it:

If I don't see a remix on April 1st utilizing only ONE instrument from some of these mentioned in the thread so far (non-exhaustive list), I'm going to be very disappointed:

    Wind chimes

    Gregorian chant

    solo voice (Han?)

    Kazoo

    Zimbabwe uyulating

    Yogic rock banging

    Nose flute

    Mellotron

    Xylophone

    Barbershop

    Harpsichord

    Pipe organ

    Marimbe

Steel drum (hint: SMB 3 and SMW have tracks that sample them already)

I want to see at least 4-6 mixes. Fry up your killer studio chops and get to work... NICE work.

  4. I'm not a freak fan but, it should be seven.

    It really should be.

you know, it would be nice if they put that energy into something else... something new. A follow up to a franchise that they left behind, despite how well it was received. Like say, oh... Einhander II.
I am so not interested in this. I'd prefer an HD Chrono Cross rerelease. That'd be swell.
Aside from graphics, translation and audio quality, FF7 still stands the test of time. The game is extremely long with tons of side quests, secrets, character customization, etc. Combat is still fast-paced and fun, between limit breaks, lots of magic/summons and command combinations. A next-gen remake/retranslation of the game would easily stand on its own.
Same with Spiderman movies. I don't think a remake is possible.

What they said... +"Rad Racer" to The Coop's comment.

  5. Lord willing, I'm going to see Lecrae that Saturday the 18th. I will also be at GenCon at some point that same weekend even if no one else from OCR is there because I happily promised ny brother I'd go this year. So if you go, you might see me there. : )

It would be nice to have more video game music nerds with us, though.

  6. Advice for organizers from an old-schooler and previous meetup attendee/planner:

A mix of scheduling and spontaneity will work best. Set in stone must-do events with a specific time frame (Indy ex: Saturday 2p- 7p GenCon events; Chi ex: Sunday 3p - 5p visit John Hancock tower; etc.). But also schedule free time (Friday 1p - 4p - whatever... maybe go to x's house; etc.)

In my case we knew for sure we were going to djp's house on such-and-such day, but in a spontaneous act, we found out Disco Dan's brother's band was playing live at a local bar/club so we all went to see them without having planned or thought of it before.

Not everyone can/will participate in everything proposed, therefore be sensitive to your majority, be mindful your minority, and remember that you can't please everybody 100%.

And for goodness' sake, make sure more than one person knows their way around town!

  7. The first one had Jun Senoue trying to imitate Nakamura's style and not doing particularly well (when Jun himself has made his own fantastic Sonic music; see: Rusty Ruins)... And they thought they could get a "retro" sound by using a crappy compressed drum sample because I REMEMBER THOSE DRUM SOUNDS FROM THE PAST BEST SONGS EVER.

:( I always liked that drum.

  8. You know that you guys don't have to have just one meetup - you can have more than one in different locations!

Yes, but it might not be economical for everyone to attend two (or more) meetups.

Still, Chi-folks could organize one in their area (maybe around the time of the Taste, possibly head up tp Gurnee for Six Flags), and Indy folks could organize one in their area, and those fortunate to attend both, could/should.

Chicago & Indianapolis seem to have the biggest interest so far.

  9. WHAT THE SHIT. Including you and me once I'm posted, I think that makes, like... 7 posted remixers currently living in Indianapolis. There must be something in our water. Probably excess fluoride.

Do you actually live in Fountain Square?

I'm really not one for amusement parks, so my vote is no on all that business. #1 vote is still Indianapolis obvi.

    A really good Naptown commercial.

My brother is in Fountain Square. I'm Northwest side, but we're originally from Kalamazoo, so I can't account for what may or may not be in the water!

GenCon = potential for wonderful setting and Grimm's got the hookup on everything else. Chicago traffic IS heart attack inducing if you're not used to the big city.

    I vote OCR-MW @ GC in AUG.

P.S. Giodorno's pizza might last you four days, but Antonio Pizza lasts a lifetime.

  10. So apparently the bills have been indefinitely postponed.

How does this change anything? Doesn't 'postponed' imply that they will come back?

Kinda like the backstory to an RPG where the evil isn't decisively killed, just sealed away for 1,000 years until all is forgotten and it becomes legend.

Not to worry; in 3012 a young politician with pointy ears and a green hat will destroy SOPA once and for all (PIPA will be the optional sidequest SUPERBOSS) and reunite the 54 states.
