  1. is it at 1.8.whatever or is it still what it was?

We are now running 1.8 on the server, we even have a new map running. To get to it, visit the portal room. Fastest way to find it is type '/spawn' then go up the stairs behind you.

I'd like to be added to the whitelist, if possible. My sn is LuketheXjesse, as usual.

You have been added to the whitelist, let me or aba know if you have issues connecting. For a little extra info on the server, visit http://angryitch.com/?p=177

Edit, Luke, aba wants you to cut your hair before you log on, not sure why....you ocr people are crazy

  2. In preparation for the eventual release of the recommended build of craftbukkit, did some updating of the ocr server, primarily permissions. So, if you log on and find that you can't do anything, let me know and I will take a look at the permissions and see what's missing.

  3. The OCR TF2 community has some of the classiest drunks in the gaming world and I feel they are not being properly utilized. So I propose an event, a friday night drunk tank where we bring some of our classy drunks together, brush, necro, kami, etc, for an evening of tf2 and drunk discussion.

  4. Which is true. Bukkit isn't yet released, so for at least the OCR server, it won't be updated until Bukkit 1.8 is released and Multiplay installs it to the server. We'll let you know when the server is updated.

This and we will be adding a 1.8 world to the server when we update, likely temporary since there are a few significant parts of map generation currently missing from 1.8.

    edit:

had me to the allowed list if there is one

    drbleck

I assume you are talking to Brush, but if not, you are already on the other one.

  5. (And I was serious before, I think you're awesome and don't want you to go D: )

    I will second this.

As for getting better on the OCR server, I found it helpful to either spec or just outright stalk the players I thought to be the best in each class. Sniper -> Lumpy, Spy -> Paranoid/Powerlord, Heavy -> Frogg, Demo -> Krug, Scoot -> Necro, etc. Not only did it help to become better at each class, I could avoid getting my ass handed to me as often.

  6. There appears to be a problem with the server, can't get it to do much of anything at the moment. I've already contacted multiplay, will see how fast they get around to addressing the problem, whatever it may be.

now the Abodoss official server seems to be down?

I am getting a exception connection timed out error.

hmm, maybe you're the problem, you logged on and bam, server blows up :P

  7. Might be a stretch, but does anyone know where I can pick up the tf2 weapon models. Been trying to decompile them myself for a couple of days now but the recommended decompiler, StudioCompiler, fails to produce anything usable. It either crashes outright, or produces an smd with nothing more then a diamond in it.

  8. Hmm... I'll have to consider this donation thing. Is there anywhere where I can learn more about this?

Abadoss always welcomes a little help, for donations and other ocr minecraft info, here's a link. http://angryitch.com/?p=177

Donators will be getting a wider range of commands and benefits, so don't let /tp and /cprivate being the only thing on the list discourage you from donating. Also, any of you old timey donators, couldn't hurt to donate to aba since he's paying for things now.

  9. So, donators are going to get a little extra in the coming days. We are going to set up an array of kits containing an assortment of useful items, tools, torches, ores, etc for donators to choose from along with the option to create a custom kit of 5 stacks (excluding a few things like diamond/gold/iron blocks)

So, how does it work? The donators gets access to the diamond tool kit every 4 hours, which contains:

    • 1 shovel
    • 1 pickaxe
    • 1 axe
    • 64 torches

Then they get to pick two more kits, either two more standard kits or one standard and one custom kit. A few rules for the custom kits.

    • 5 items or stacks the list
    • No Iron, Gold, or Diamond blocks.
    • Other items can be limited based on admins discretion.
    • One use per week(may change based on admins discretion).

Once we get a few more of the kits set up, we will start taking requests, hopefully some time this weekend. For now, any thoughts on the plan?

OH right, aba just informed me that donators can now kick mobs to death with leather boots, enjoy that.

  10. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone had nominated Launchpad and enough people voted to play on it. Then I realized it was an older version but oh well.

We had some productive conversations ingame about some issues such as map scale, confusing layout, and suggestions for functional geometry, but I'd appreciate any and all feedback. Screenshots in particular are really helpful when talking about specific parts of the map. (Especially since I can just check back here if I forget.)

I had two issues, the rather large scale of the map made it feel like it was taking forever to get anywhere/that you were tiny, and the fact I could see huge distances made it look like it was going to take forever to get anywhere. In terms of scale, you have a number of large faces with little door/windows in them that contribute to the feeling of being to small for the map. Along with that you have several areas that 12 people can get into and it doesn't feel like pregame mayhem in a small room.

5gorge and badlands are relatively large maps, but there aren't to many locations on either that let you see huge distances. Each point is essentially an independent room with a number of confined short hallways between them, most of which corner right as you leave the point area. You don't get that feeling with Launchpad, instead you get a number of areas that scream free-for-all, like:

    launchpad.jpg

There are limited obstructions, so you have a fairly clean line of site from one end to the other, plus it is fairly wide. The area around point 3 on badlands is large, but it's hard to see from one end to the other and no where do you feel like you have a huge amount of space to work with. Maybe a little bit with point 2/4 on badlands, but it isn't straight line space, like that screenshot.

Overall it's a good layout, but it could use a little re-scaling and tweaks to line of site. Hopefully that makes sense/is helpful.

  11. emot-siren.gif IF YOU PAY FIRESLASH FOR A RESERVED SLOT, YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IN GOOGLE CHECKOUT emot-siren.gif

I can't do this for you. Seriously. Because the subs weren't tied to item codes, I can't cancel them. You need to do it. Otherwise you're donating to the "throw sand in the gaping hole in FS's wallet" fund, which gets you a shiny box of nothing.

So, does this mean I won't get kicked on a regular basis due to the reserve slot or are you going to implement a random "kick player for fun" plugin?
