  1. Shroomish is my new favorite.

Also I don't think we should do the whole 'favorites' thing as that sort of thing is discouraged on these forums.

Back on topic: Do you guys think Black Kyurem and White Kyurem will be the only alt Kyurem formes or do you think there'll be a forme that's the combination of all three dragons (Kyurem is said to be what's left over from the Original Dragon comprising Reshiram and Zekrom). B and W Kyurem are pretty much missing a whole 3rd each as they are: Remains + 1 dragon.

  2. But why does gen 3 happen at the same time as 1? Gen 2 and 4 I can see, but 1 and 3?

I don't remember anything personally. The only thing I can find from a few searches was the Celio machine FRLG/RSE connectivity, but that's not very concrete at all, is it? Hmm!

  3. That's right, the Sinnoh games start because the player trainers want to investigate whether their local lake has a red gyarados, like the newscast says has been seen in Johto's Lake of Rage, and that itself came about because Team Rocket exposed the lake to a radio frequency in G/S/C.

Jasmine left Johto somewhere in the time after her defeat and before you meet her in Sunyshore.

  4. Sorry, didn't mean to lump you in with the haters.

I still think your statement is wrong. Currently an 85 on metacritic with great reviews from professional critics as well.

Not a prob. I'll concede I probably should've said that reception to the game(gameplay depth in particular) seems a bit mixed. I believe you that the gameplay is good enough and I definitely agree the music sounds really great. Again, I was interested in this game hitting eShop and I really think I would've enjoyed it, personally. I like Zelda 1-esque dungeon crawling and I own Super Smash TV on SNES.

The only reason I haven't played BoI is because I don't really like playing games on my computer.

In other news, Metroid NES will be hitting the 3DS next month!

  5. People like ocre jump on the bandwagon of hating it yet have never played it.

Huh. I don't remember typing that I hated the game. I was actually interested in the game hitting the eShop.

The 'lack of an ESRB rating' reason I stated before is enough for me to understand why Nintendo didn't put it on their store.

Oh, and I bought Manhunt 2 on Wii and would've much rather had the uncensored version, thank you. I know the issue here is religion, rather than violence, but I applaud Nintendo for skirting that issue, rather than opening the door for moronic talking heads to take aim at them.

And hey, at least it's on Steam.

  6. Not only what you guys have been saying but, this game has never been rated by the ESRB. On Steam, it didn't need a rating to go up there. Even if Nintendo really wanted the game on their platform, it would've needed an ESRB rating and can any of you(that know what they're talking about) tell me this game would've gotten an M over an AO? I highly doubt Sony or Microsoft would've passed this onto their platforms either, yet people are decrying Nintendo for this decision. I think Nintendo should've cited the lack of an ESRB rating rather than religious material for their decision but what's done is done.

Apparently the game itself wasn't all that great anyway.

  7. Ideally, the best time for Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 to come out is November, as Black Friday and Cyber Monday are on that month.

I think they're saving that sweet spot (pre-Black Friday) for the Wii U's drop.

I expect we'll see Pokemon B/W 2 in September or October; they don't need the help of any big sales day to sell heaps of a Pokemon title.

  8. Dillon's Rolling Western impressions!

This game is pretty fun so far. Many of you might have already seen the preview on the Nintendo Direct video, but: it's a tower defense game with an emphasis on/twist of 3rd person action (with an upgradable tower/equipment system) and you have to protect the livestock of different villages through 3 waves of marauding rock monsters.

Some may be turned off to find out that the game is controlled primarily with a stylus (Directional movement is handled with the Circle Pad, and you have to drag your stylus in the opposite direction you want to go and release to give Dillon a boost in his ball form; sounds a lot worse than it is. So far in my playthrough there's no use of the 3DS's face buttons) though I've had very little annoyance in the controls. The combat is fun if a little repetitive(so far I can roll into enemies, grind enemies after a roll and perform combo claw attacks) and enemy behavior and your attack options get more varied as the game goes on.

Each village(map) has to be defended for three days (which is further divided in half- a daytime and a dusk. During the day, there are no marching enemies, and you're free to explore the map and gather resources. You have to collect 'scruffles' (they look like turnips) in order to bolster the amount of livestock the village has. You can find mines on the map and in those rooms you can attack/grind on rocks in order to glean ores and gems which you can either sell for more gold or fortify your town gates. The daytime is a mad rush(some reviewers complain there's not enough time to 'do everything' but I completely disagree; the game intends for you to hustle and I feel there's plenty of time to do that) to get all your towers ready and turn in your resources into the town (where you can actually sell and fortify the flock) while night time is where the tower defense portion of the game comes into play. The town will be locked down and your enemies will spill forth from their 'den' locations, and your towers(divided into shotgun:close range, gatling gun-mid-range, and cannon-long range/powerful) will go to work. Also on each map there are 3 "ruins" (which you open up Metroid Prime Morph Ball Door style) where you either collect high-gold-yield gems or Zelda-esque heart pieces. (One thing to keep in mind is that you can build up a Combo by grinding on enemies continuously, which yields better ore and bigger gold rewards) For that reason, I've been doing combat by grinding each enemy consecutively while avoiding getting attacked. You can also get better ore this way when you mine. There's also the option to 'claw attack' which will kill your enemy or ore pile faster, but you don't get as much resource for it.

I've made it up to village 7(haven't started it yet) and so far there have been a lot of new enemy type (and even environmental) introductions to keep things interesting. In one of the maps, you have to buy dynamite in order to cross a bridge and get easier access to some enemies/resources, as well as a giant tower enemy that (when a timer expires) will destroy your towers one by one. There's a map called 'Fort Denial' which is a 3-tiered mountain with a ton of mud (that Dillon can't roll through on your initial playthrough; so you have to walk through it, though there are non-mud paths that you can roll through as usual) and it was incredibly rewarding to tackle it and succeed at guarding the village. Then, in the next map (which doesn't feature mud :3) they introduce another enemy that can jump up onto the next tier from the ground (as opposed to following a predictable path, as the other grocks do).

Another thing that amazed me about the game is that it takes up very little space on my SD card (374 blocks) but offers a ton of content (as opposed to Mighty Switch Force which takes up a HUGE amount of space(1,617 blocks) and has kind of shallow gameplay offerings; though that game isn't quite as expensive as Dillon's Rolling Western- $9.99.)

Definitely worth the purchase, in my book.

  9. I'm pretty sure there's a good reason behind the '2' name structure for this followup(though selling two copies is a good one from a business standpoint.) We might even get a new region adjacent to the Unova region(similar to Kanto/Johto's placement) and it would share the same pokemon from gen 5 mixed in with older ones. They're probably doing this to get more mileage out of the BW engine/brand before moving onto whatever they have cooking for 3DS. Every other engine got at least 4 games(r/b engine: red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal; r/s engine: ruby, sapphire, emerald, firered, leafgreen; d/p engine: diamond, pearl, platinum, heartgold, soulsilver). We'll see how it all plays out.

  10. On the new games front, I got Tales of the Abyss today. I decided to get it since I didn't get to finish the PS2 one way back when and I can take this one anywhere.

The visuals are decent (don't expect silky smooth models or very impressive use of 3D). This is pretty much the PS2 game made portable with a bit of 3D implemented. The most significant change is the drastically reduced load times, which are pretty much instantaneous here. I recommend headphones to get the most out of the music and voice acting. Having fun with it. And it promises to be a pretty lengthy game! If you didn't get very far in the original PS2 version and you liked Tales of Symphonia, I think it's safe to say you'll probably like this one. :3
