  1. I only buy stuff from steam when it is on sale. I waited a whole year to get the Price of Persia games on sale. Sure enough, this year they were on sale, so I bought them. If I miss out on anything this year, I will merely wait till next year to get them on sale again, maybe even cheaper. I'm hoping Rocket Knight goes more on sale, though I suspect it wont, so I'll probably be buying that one on January 2nd.

Additionally, I recommend picking up The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom. If you liked Braid, then this should be worth your $0.50. I beat it in a single sitting, so don't expect any more than half a dollar's worth of game play though.

VVVVVV is also a real winner if your a fan of 2D platforming. It was worth $5, so it should definitely be worth $2.50.

  2. Ceiling Masters, Re-deads. Re-deads more so I think. The fact that they would paralyze your character with fear would practically paralyze me with fear before you start whizzing the control stick around going "WAHHHHHH!" And then they would latch on to you, and when you would finally break free there would be another one just waiting for its turn. Not so scary anymore really, but they sure did do a good job creeping me out back when I was... 10 was it?

  3. In the non-player's choice version of Metroid Prime, if you defeat the Alpha Pirate, and don't claim the artifact that he drops (by just leaving the room, and going sufficiently far away), then you can permanently miss getting that artifact, thereby making it so you cant go to the last area. They fixed this in the Player's Choice version by making all the doors lock until you grab the artifact.

There's also a bug in Final Fantasy 3/6 (might actually just be for the Japanese version, not sure really) where if you leave at least one of the rats in the Opera House alive, play the game until you get to the World of Ruin, then come back and get killed by said rat, it will warp you back to the Opera house in the World of Balance, and you will be unable to finish the game.

  4. My question is how do you change directions during a run. I've always thought that you could only run in one direction at a time.

Because of this thread, I also started playing this game (I cant believe I missed this gem). Anyway, this question also kind of interests me, I know that you can change the direction you are running by merely moving the d-pad, but it takes a quite a bit longer than what is shown in the movie, however, I noticed that while you are running, if you press the jump button you do a little slide move, looking back at the video, I noticed that Alundra goes into the slide animation a little bit before quickly changing directions, so I think it has something to do with that. I don't have time to test it right now, but I will soon, and post back if I find anything concrete.

  5. 4) After having left DotA, I found the lack of Death Match mode in HoN rather depressing.

Death Match was seriously my favorite game mode. I am sad that they never implemented it in HoN. The inclusion of DM in DotA 2 will constitute an insta-buy on my part.

  6. Hmm, I had an invite to the beta from fairly early on, but only actually played it once, and incidentally I am feeling somewhat of an itch to try it again (looks like the beta has been over for a while), but one thing I am fairly convinced of is that I do not like MMO's in general. Additionally, I do not have the resources for subscription based games.

  7. I bought a couple of S-Video Cables a while back, and one of them had the same problem, and it was because it had been manufactured poorly, and had the pins connected wrong, While the other one that worked had them connected correctly. It kind of sucks, because you just don't know what you are going to get.

Note: All of these cables were Pelican brand, but the one that was bad had different packaging.

Also, I was never able to fix the other cable because I didn't want to mess with trying to get those pins out, and in the right place.

Well good luck with getting your cable working.

  8. Commencing dump of personal video game ringtones.

98% of MP3's encoded from original video game formats @ ~40kbps (with my phone, you cant really tell the difference, and free space was at a premium.)

    All songs < 30s long.

Well anyway here they are in mp3, or wav if you wish to convert them into something higher bit-rate (all songs encoded on 08/09/2009 are not available in wav.)

Edit:Last Link was borked, try again and it should work...

I'm currently using Zelda themed ring tones with Hyrule Field as ring, and Secret! as ringtone.
